Top review chap! Currently in the market for some hiking footwear and your vid just happened to appear in my feed (sometimes the algorithms are just too scary). Money's tight at the mo but you've convinced me to give these a go (I'll be sure to blame this channel when I'm crippled and/ or hospitalised due to my terrible boot decisions). Oh, and a Happy new year!
Judging by pictures online, these boots are relatively narrow in the foot ball part (though Scarpa claims that the 2nd version has a wider toebox), do you experience any problems in that area?
Hi there. I must confess that I have suffered no discomfort at all in this area and i've used these boots for some pretty long hikes over challenging terrain. Might just be my foot shape though.
It is good to see a man who really uses his boots ! I suggest proofing them with Scarpa HS12 after your next saddle soap cleaning ( after they're dry, of course ). Great review ! Best regards from America.
I had a pair of Berghaus hillmaster 2 GTX which lasted just less than 3 years. They were decent until they began to leak big time. Haven’t had a pair of boots for a while and looking for a boot that will keep my feet dry and provide good ankle support. I live on the edge of Dartmoor which in winter, is wet, cold, harsh and boggy. Would these Scarpa be good enough for Dartmoor? I have a pair of Scarpa Vortex gtx walking shoes which are awesome. Advice appreciated!
Hi Naz. I can only speak about my own experience with them, but they've dealt with just about the toughest bog you're likely to find in The Cambrian Mountains and never set a foot wrong. I only think they have weakness on wet rocky terrain. Not the best grip for this but excellent in mud, shingle and puddles etc. Hope that helps.
I use army issue Iturri cold wet weather boots for Dartmoor; you can pick up a pair on eBay, although they are becoming hard to find as many are being sent straight to Ukraine. However, you need to go up a size with them; they come in Medium or Wide widths so, for example, if you usually take a 9 and do not have wide feet, go for a 10M. They use the Defender sole, which give better grip on rock and stone than the Vibram soles.
I can't I am afraid as only had these. Still going strong though and not sure why you wouldn't want gore tex if hiking in the UK or anywhere fairly wet. Best of luck in your search though.
@@danexitsstreetview3273 thanks for your reply, I suffer with hot feet and gortex is to hot and sweaty, I prefer the cambered lining or non at all and use mink oil on the leather. Cheers Ant.
Worn many different boots, fabric, leather and so on. These are the best. Comfortable, and waterproof for years. Always buy these now
great review, just bought some and found them VERY comfortable, totally waterproof..happy with choice, thanks
Glad you like them Les. Mine are still going strong.

@@danexitsstreetview3273 just out of interest; do you know anything about the Salomon Quest 4D boots?
@@NazSBG No I don't I'm afraid. Never used that brand.

How are these for people with wide feet?
Not too sure. I've got slim fit and room left. Well worth trying first if you can.
you got a good £. Now 15th Jan 2023 in Millets UK the £ is £190.
Can anyone recommend a non gortex boot
