Separated at birth.
Absolutely thought they were the same person for like a month until I noticed the name difference
@@bitchlasagna1 Same. I found them at the same time and liked both. I thought it was one person but I knew there was something different, lol. Then one day I saw Paige and thought, “isn’t her name Caroline” or vice versa. Then I found the other and binged watched both.
True! They are so cute together 😂I can’t stop giggling
In Shabby Chic’s defense (lol), the designer who coined the term-Rachel Ashwell-has said herself that she avoids faux old pieces that have been painted and intentionally distressed to look worn.
In her book she says, “To buy a piece that you will have to turn into something shabby is to miss the point, for the appeal of a piece is in its natural aging, not in the false creation of the appearance of age.”
So the inventor of shabby chic would actually agree with you :)

@@user-zk5rt3gb3e I have some tricks I use to get the energy out of things, as I believe in getting rid of bad energies and that there are ways to do so, so you can have used things
Loved/love shabby chic! But I’m into florals, quilts, old stuff, and chintzes! ❤❤❤
@@user-zk5rt3gb3e: I am the total opposite. I love antiques; wearing used clothing, jewelry, and shoes; living in old lived-in homes, and beautiful, thoughtful architecture, art, design, music, literature, and craftsmanship created eons ago by someone else. ❤
So you buy new new new? Ay!
I love the combo of the two of you. Paige grounds Caroline's energy and Caroline lighten's Paige's energy. A beautiful duo - more please!
i looveeee this.
It's beautiful what you said 😊
Just such a great pair. I think y’all could easily have a successful show together. Chip and Joanna who?
@@GenericAccountVLR OH! That would be a great video! Let them critique some of Chip and Joanna's homes!
@@Caroline_Winklerwe loooooove uu both!!!
I'm one of those guys that constitute that 20% of Caroline's male audience and also a long time subscriber of Paige's channel. Everyone has already spoken very eloquently about this video so I'll just say this: to me, the point of this video is about the beauty of a friendship being born, right in front of our eyes. Unlike a shabby chic piece, you can't fake that; this is pure vintage. ❤
1000 points ❤

Find yourself someone that looks at you like Caroline looks at Paige 😅❤
Hahaha
awww ❤❤❤
Noticed this as well! LOL So cute. I love the friendship.
If I could find someone who was that giddy in my presence, I'd marry them!
31:54 Agreeeee
Love it. The only point I’d make is that you recommend just going for a real vintage Persian rug instead of a faux vintage rug because they’re easy enough to find…but ignore the fact that real vintage Persian rugs (bigger than a large bath mat) can easily cost literally thousands of dollars (even on Revival).
Dunno, just struck me as odd. I think the better advice would be “go another design route if you don’t have $$$$ to spend on a real vintage rug,” not “duh, just get a real one”
lol right? ....like we hadnt thought of that 🤔
Or just buy it still if the quality is up to your standards and you like it…
Yeah like all of us can afford a vintage rug that costs thousands of dollars 🙄
@@Rebelliousrefinementright? I can't remember the last time I bought a piece of furniture or home decor that wasn't vintage or second hand and I disagree with them on the rug issue. Vintage rugs, new old stock, persian rugs, etc. are so hard to find at an affordable price. If it's quality and you like it then put it in your home.
Shame on anyone who hates on Caroline’s vlogs. They are gold 🥇
I tried really hard to be a hater. I even unsubscribed but damn I just had to keep coming back lol
@@Sssilentlaugh I felt that way with Paige Wassel when I first started watching 😁 (Paige don’t come after me lol) but there’s something about them that you love and relate too. And that natural raw honesty that does not apologize, is by far my favorite attribute about them both. ☺️💜

There are a few reasons why I could think someone may not want to actually get a real vintage rug.
1. they want a washable rug that also looks vintage because they have pets kids etc. (the ability to clean something yourself without emptying the bank is valuable to a large family house)
2. they intend on having it in a indoor outdoor space like a covered patio or something. (Outdoors isn’t really good for natural fabrics)
3. in art room or something messy where you don’t want to have a real piece of history get ruined by accident.
4. You’re in a dorm or a rented space or a space that you may not stay in for a long period of time and may not have the ability to take things with you when you leave.
Great points! Also, good vintage Persian rugs are actually quite expensive.
Then ya don’t need to get one ✨🤗
@@livb7322This is not logical. Most of what any of us have or wear is a replica of something. Unless you are the billionaire among us
And they are fucking expensive
Or…you know…extremely cost prohibitive.
OMFG. A collaboration i didn't know i needed. I adore both of your sharp but witty takes.
it was hilarious making this together, and so much fun
The discussion of making your home an authentic representation of its setting hit hard, but I think I'm nailing the "old house in the ghetto" aesthetic that I was shooting for.
I’d be more bankrupt than I am presently if I had to redecorate to fit into my new neighborhood / city / state every time I moved 💀
It's one of the things some of the RUclips interior design commentators do that irks me, is like when Paige says why is the parquet flooring in the bedroom/it doesn't go with the design. Most of us can't change the flooring in any our rentals or homes just because it doesn't go with what we can change for much cheaper like furniture or paint which you can get cheap or bring with you place to place. Most people dont rip up a floor just so the design is better. They just have to live with it.
That's how I felt about her fave part of that one room- the floors. Esp these days so many (if not most) of us can't change things like floors.
I want to hear reasonable design advice that applies to the majority of the population lol
the "inauthentic" argument is so dumb because most people can't just up and move their lives to an area that suits their style. if you want a rustic style and can only afford an apartment in the city, then keep your rustic style; there's nothing wrong with the outside of your apartment and immovable features not 100% matching your aesthetic.
I love that the complimenting hideous spaces segment is yalls equivalent of “everybody’s so creative!” 😂
I was smiling ear to ear through this entire video. Such a perfect collab!
I'm so glad!
I have literally never clicked something faster. My two favs in one space 🤩
i obv had a hard time keeping it a secret
There’s a difference between not preferring a particular style and the style actually being poorly executed. Not being able to discern between the two is not a sign of good taste or sophistication. It’s just weird.
And snobby af
What a gift ! You two should get together more often...virtually if you can't travel all across the country each time, which you can't. Love you both !
It was like watching myself with my friend! I would be Caroline and she would be Paige. It's like a cute dog plus cute cat situation that works perfectly. Please please do more collabs together to increase everyone's global happiness
Omg living for this pet analogy
Caroline’s home is wonderful. So personal and fantastic design sense. It is rare when one see a home on RUclips that you see every object, furniture etc that was actually curated by the person.
Bah so kind. You gotta check out Paige’s then! Epitome of curation
@@Caroline_Winkler You and I have a more synchronous design style, but I just love watching Paige curate things for her home.
I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. The two of you together is incredible. Please make this a regular thing.
I have a *beautiful,* colorful, *fake* vintage “Persian” rug that’s kinda plush and 100% wool. It doesn’t have that fake faded look, which I can’t stand, and didn’t cost me a fortune.
I love it so much I bought another one exactly like it that’s in my garage waiting for the current one to wear out. It’s discontinued now, but I’d buy it again. ❤
#3 - except if you have pets/kids/are prone to spilling. Risking ruining a a vintage rug with an unfortunate wee/runny poop/puke/spill is a lot more stressful than if you just have a fake vintage rug.
I just got my vintage Oriental rug back after having it cleaned. Will not be putting it back because I have pets who sometimes think the rug is just grass. My car Willie who had to be euthanized the day after Thanksgiving had made the carpet a total disaster. I just can’t afford to put out $600.00 a pop to keep it clean😢
This is AWESOME!! The reason I found Paige Wassel RUclips channel was because Caroline had recommended on favorite interior designers, once upon a time, and she wasn’t wrong. She is cool

Moi aussie! 🎉
I totally agree with what you said about how we’re influenced by the spaces during our upbringing. The cool thing is I’m now seeing touches of this in my four daughter’s but they make it their own which in turn inspires me back. I was absolutely influenced my own mother so I’m in the middle of it all and it’s wonderful!
I love this!! More videos like this, please! Also, starting from the 13:00-ish minute mark, it would be so helpful if you guys would say WHY you thought it didn't work! I personally thought it looked like a teenager's bedroom, didn't see anything wrong with it (other than the way of the rug).
6:10 I actually really look forward to your vlogs! Totally understand that I may be in the minority, but I enjoy picking up some of the lessons you’ve been thinking about.
bless you haha they're my favorite to make!!
same! love ‘em
Me too the vlogs are my favorite!
I knew it… about time I’m so happy this collab finally happened. Congratulations ladies. Whoop Whoop 🙌 x
This duo is taking me back to the 2012 RUclips collabs of yesteryear. I’m in LOVE with both of you
I can’t believe people don’t like your vlogs! they’re literally my favourite of your videos
I like the boho chic one very much. The colors are exactly like in my living room
what a pleasure to see people who so clearly admire each other and know each other’s work well!! wonderful video, hope you do more together
The best dating advice/strategy I've heard was from one of Paige's videos, where she wrote her number on a piece of paper before going into an antique store, just in case there was a cute single guy in there. Genius.
Wait do you remember in which video was this?
That is so funny
From a psychological and sociological standpoint I wonder what the difference is between people who like boho and people who like mid century modern. I was surprised when you both mentioned your dislike of boho (one of my favorite styles) but then it made more sense when you both agrees on midcentury modern (my least favorite by far). Personally I opt for a transitional style in my home, but I do wonder what the differences in these two style preference personalities are.
I think there is A LOT overlap.
MCM are hipster couples with good jobs/money. They live in gentrified neighborhoods and want to distinguish themselves from the masses. MCM lovers more likely to have an art background. There is a "cannon" within mid century... a ladder to climb to obtain the most cherished pieces. They dislike the elite but they are absolutely elitist bc there are like 10 major collectible pieces they shell out healthy 5 figure sums for.
Lean progressive in politics... but not always.
Embraced by couples bc the style is amenable to men.
Rarely blonde... unless bleached, platinum and short.
Boho is a more heterogenous group bc its much more accessible and literal. Leans female. Somewhat of a every woman's shabby chic 2.O. More economically, and racially diverse. Boho interesting with a lot of non-white/Anglo design styles (i.e. African, Asian, some South American). Its embraced by renters and owners alike. Boho doesnt require the design credentials but it can be overdone and be cliche.
Nice girls and invisible girls grown up and glown up. The Urban Outfitters turned Anthro girlies. Also the thrift store girlies. If Taylor Swift were a non celebrity regular person. Yet somehow if Issa Rae were too. Boho ppl like RomComs and banana bread.
Generally embraced by those who arent on the cutting edge of trends since boho was deemed "over" by the gatekeepers
No wayyyy! I've been binging y'all's videos separately constantly over the past 2 weeks and now this?? What a wonderful surprise!! ❤
1. I love this dynamic duo
2. I love your vlogs!
3. Can we get your arm workout secrets???
Also interested in the arm workout 😃
You and Paige together?? It's my dream come true ❤❤
I absolutely loved seeing these worlds collide. Caroline and Paige are so talented and so different. To me, Caroline is a philosopher and master storyteller, and Paige is an instinctual visual artist and a master of vibes. Both are phenomenal talents and so very watchable. Thanks to both for the engaging content!
You both seem confident in yourselves, & confidence is cool. BTW, I really like Caroline's art.
My two favourite design RUclipsrs together?? 🤩🤩🤩
she is queen
What a great collab! I found Paige through you when you mentioned her as one of your favorite RUclipsrs on an old video. I really like you both and it was great to see y’all together and hear y’all’s critique and banter. Making her say nice stuff was hilarious since that’s not her style (which is why I love her) and y’all had great chemistry
Same !!😂
You guys need a podcast! And Caroline you are so worthy of your viral video, don’t let anyone put you down for that 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Omg! The best combo ❤ perfect timing for binge watching before going to sleep. Very beautiful picture !!!!!
New rugs with classic designs on them aren't fake rugs. They are still real rugs. To everyone out there who feels bad about their new rug: if you can use plastic stick and peel to represent antique tile you can have your new rug. And the stick and peel is great. Also, Caroline Winkler has the loveliest touch with advice. I'm new to her and I've subscribed because she has a combination of expertise and gentleness which is very refreshing in the aggressive, hyper-critical world of interior design. She seems to understand how people really live and what their worries can be.
And finally, Paige's home is beautiful but to me the lounge room has too many colours in it - I don't really understand this room when the other rooms are so understated with their colours. The dark orange rug, the pale lilac sofa, the green chairs with another orangey colour in the wood stain, the strong textured black on black coffee table, the another-orange-colour flowers, the strong yellow of the books, the blue chairs in the background, the beige of the window frame and fireplace, the grey mount in the picture frame. The colours are muted but even all the same tone the effect is kaleidescopic. But maybe it's deliberate? I don't know. The lilac, black and green are beautiful by themselves (I think Japanese style does this colour combo so well, they add the tiniest touch of orange and blue) and maybe those colours don't need the dark orange between them and the fabulous colour of the floorboards. However, perhaps it's the lighting or how my screen has displayed the colours and also it is just my opinion 🙂.
Fantastic! Trying to get Paige to say something nice about interior design is genius!
Paige is how I found you!
ahh! that's how it all started! with shoutouts to each other back and forth in our videos for a bit! then we became internet friends. pretty fun to finally be hanging in person
"If you're going to buy a fake vintage thing just buy the real thing" -- is filed right next to "if you're going to earn $65k a year just earn $650k a year" in the advice cabinet. Are handknotted-in-Istanbul rugs frequently posted on craigslist?!? There's a long history of faking stuff in interiors e.g. "trompe l'oeil" or even Delftware originated as knock-off Chinese porcelain. Pretentions *are* design. How do you use design to achieve an affect. How do you give your boring affordable space some romance and luxury...*because* it doesnt naturally have those things. It needs to be done....by design.
THANK YOU! I was wondering if I was the only one who thought that was weird, I went 😎🤏 🤨🕶️🤏
Naw, used vintage dressers are way cheaper than new ones. Especially comparing vintage/antique solid wood pieces to new solid wood pieces, the used ones are so much cheaper. Depending on the style they are sometimes even free.
I get what you're saying, but it's honestly cheaper to get vintage pieces of furniture than to buy new fake furniture. The price of fake wood dressers and beds are atrocious. I bought a handful of new pieces when I got my first apartment and quickly decided to stick with secondhand furniture that is made of real wood. WAY cheaper and better quality.
@tf7602 yep. I got my vanity table for free, and the wood and style are gorgeous on it. The woman said she had intended to paint it but never got around to it and just wanted the table and mirror gone.
Y'all, she specifically said "fake vintage Persian rug" and real room-sized Persian rugs are more expensive than any car my family has ever owned. There's several hundred dollar priced fake rugs and there are several ten thousand dollar real Persian rugs. They dont exist on the mid-scale. They're just overpriced fakes.
I’m so happy to hear you supporting a more eclectic “style”, as in not sticking strictly to a theme throughout the home. I moved into a log home 4 yrs ago & despite liking the Lodge Look, I didn’t want my space to appear as if it were a hotel. I’ve collected furnishings that work together but don’t scream ski chalet, & which make me happy. Will they ever work in another style building? Maybe not, but I love them here.
Caroline is so cute listening to others while they speak. Such an enthusiastic listener.
You two are amazing together. I'm so glad you're collaborating!
Caroline, your authenticity and willingness to be real, funny, and a real person is definitely what makes you cool. I totally love you and your content. I am so happy when I see that you've posted. Keep being you. You're wonderful.
Ngl I loved the yellow bedroom. Not sure I would like the lady finger bed, but I love the colours and the plants.
I love you both! The way you look at Paige when she’s talking is the cutest!
so fun to see these two together finally!! i reached the "complimenting" ugly spaces portion &.. why do i feel like paige and elizabeth would get along SO well haha
This was fun! I can see the easy back and forth. I hope Caroline doesn’t start deleting her old videos. I like to share when I am referencing them to family, friends or even random internet people.
This is the best thing and I need more. You two together is the friendship I never knew I needed. I already watch you both.
IVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR THIS! Two total opposite characters yet both have such cool style
I love both of these lovely ladies channels so much... and here they are giving us the best collab of 2023!❤👏
Finally, the dream collaboration I've been asking for! I love seeing you two together!! It'd be fun to see you both restyle each other's homes, lol. Your personalities really balance each other out. I'd be thoroughly entertained just watching you two shop at walmart or home goods, or try to design a challenging space together!!
Seeing this turn up in my feed - amazing. The anticipation of how good this could be - truly exciting. The actual experience of the video - exceeded expectations, bravo ladies!
Also I have no idea what my style is, but I've learned so much from Caroline. I appreciate the simplicity and MIX of things all around. It's like an unpredictable organized space. :) but it all goes well together, I like it very much. I try to imitate it! With my own spin.
I was a fan of both of you and have waited for this collaboration forever! Brava to you both. 🎉
I've been a follower of both of you! This is soooo refreshing to see, hope we get to see more videos like this
absolutely obsessed with this colab 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Love these two humans together so so much. Hope to see more of this in the future 🙏
Oh my god, thank you! First of all, for the collab we all knew we needed! Second, for freeing me from my desperate pursuit of trying to label my interior style. 😄
I am so psyched for this collab !!! Have you both been quietly promising this forever because I feel like you have and this makes me so HAPPY!!
It’s like my two favorite imaginary nieces came over for coffee to talk shit about stuff and I get to eavesdrop. ❤
Can i just note: when you said you can buy a vintige piece for the same price of a particle board piece, thats only true in some parts of the world where those pieces were popular many years ago. It eastern europe the only vintige pieces sold are ones that are imported form the west, cuz the furniture from the past is heavy duty (but still) particle board soviet modular pieces, sooo yeah. Vintage pieces here are not as cheap as new cheap furniture.
Same here in north Carolina, US. Buying vintage which is in great shape can be extremely expensive and time consuming.
I love that you get right to point on your videos.
Love it! A warm hug for both of you!
I just watched Paige's video, and now I get to watch this one... So happy to see y'all together. 😍 Critiquing homes is exactly the type of video I wanted to see from y'all. 😂
I can’t stop smiling. 2 minutes in. You both are so great!
Theory that came to me in the night: Paige is sort of like sister Elizabeth, no? Dry wit, provocatively intelligent . . . Of course they make a dynamic duo😉 What’s marvelous is to find that kind of connection & enjoyment -- in one’s family or on YT. 👏🏻
OMG THE COLLAB IVE BEEN WAITING MY WHOLE LIFE FORRRRR. we love Caroline and paige!!!!
Love you guys together !! Thank you Caroline for introducing us to Paige awhile back !!
I literally just gasped seeing these two faces pop up in the same video on my feed!! I’ve been waiting for this moment all year since I found you both! Who else follows these gals and have always thought they should be besties?? Meeeeee 🙋🏻♀️
OMG! I just moved back home to Los Angeles (bought my own home) & that’s how I ran into your channel. WHICH THANK YOU! I love you! Anywho, point being I moved back from living in Downtown Cincinnati, Ohio about 3 weeks ago LOL Ive been living there pre-covid so about 5 years in a modern high rise. And i swear I thought I have seen you before! Just thought that was a crazy coincidence and I needed to share. Love, ACF ❤
Have not watched this yet but I am THRILLED for this collab. Love you both!
I can’t explain how excited I am for this collab.
For styles, I’ve started referring to myself as an aficionado of the “unfinished” look. Goes doubly so for my diy projects.
I found and subscribed to Paiges' channel way back when you mentioned her in a video. Love both of your styles and you two have such good energy together.
Love this collaboration! Please do more of these.
Umm, I haven’t even finished the entire video but I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised and excited to see both of you collaborating together! Just made my day. 😊
Obviously there are a lot of folks who like this approach this video takes; I prefer critiques that explain the underlying design principals that are in play or that have been ignored. I don't find it very interesting to simply hear whether or not someone likes a space or objects but apparently a lot of folks enjoy that. And yes, I'm aware that in expressing this opinion I'm doing exactly what I'm criticizing.
I love the way both work together. I don't know why, but I get a sense of familiarity when I watch these videos. It feels like hanging out with a sister, or a beloved friend. Thank you, Caroline and Paige!
You both are truly “Unique & Special”…this is why I subscribe to you both! I Lived for this video collab!❤️
