EGD Ellipse

In this tutorial video I will show you how to construct an Ellipse. This is only an approxiation and is mainly used in the EGD subject. You will need to know how to apply the middle point method.

nice! of course you know this is not an ellipse, but four circular arcs tweened with each other (so the tangents at the joins are the same)

The only reason I named it as ellipse, is because in SA schools they call it an ellipse and this will make it easier to find. Wish they could name it to an oval and that its only an approximation.

With respect, that’s not actually an ellipse, just an approximation, which makes all that marking and geometry a bit strange, given there’s a simple way to draw an actual ellipse using semi-axes and straight edge

and as such ... an ellipse is a concept and not truly drawable. (unless you use a loop of string round two nails when it is truly drawable but incredibly hard to descibe the line). You've drawn an oval of sorts.

It's drawn with drawing instruments, it will remain only an approximation but at least a beautiful cousin.
