Such a valuable resource to have out there... thank you so much for taking the time to go out and film these. I these challenging times with people and instructors seeking other ways of developing their skills while they are unable to get to a mountain, videos like this really help... I’ve gotten rid of too many videos of the years that could have been useful for things like analysis practice... so thanks!
Thank you Kawasaki-san always for sharing! Level 4 exam in Whistler mtn!! Goat-gully, one of the most difficult off-piste bump in Whistler. However everyone skies really good. Why not, they are level 4 candidates. But you are much better, you are still the goat! :) See you soon on the mountain!
Kudos to all. It’s not easy. 82, 6 and 7, almost there! Who is 13?! I want to ski like that. Those are GS skis, right, being turned like they are SL’s. And, such a nice line, so fluid and dynamic.
This is footage of a practice test for the mogul run at the CSIA L4 exam. At the time of this video there I think 9 different runs that candidates were examined on (short turns, bumps, expert parallel, race etc)... while the process is different now the criteria for what good bump skiing is, and how it’s assessed at the L4 standard should still be the same. So first of all, this particular bump run is expert terrain, and needs to be skied at an expert speed, that is consistent and controlled. Turn shape and line are adjusted to the terrain - naturally formed bumps aren’t uniform, so the skier needs to adapt to that Skills are blended to produce an overall fall line run - zig zagging across the fall line, or traversing to change line aren’t good - use of steering and pressure control skills to change line works Snow contact is controlled at will - it’s ok to get air if it’s intended, and controlled - constant contact with the ground is not the target Hope that info provides a bit more insight into how this is assessed. You’ll see many of the candidates coming up short in one or more of those criteria, with only a few ticking all the boxes.
The second guy in green #38 get my vote. He played with the hill did not look like he was working hard nor did he get bucked around like the ones that did make it look like work
Those are not easy bumps to ski. At least 4 skiers excelled (22, 28, 31 and 24) in their bump runs. What set them apart from most of the other skiers is their use of PMTS movements. For more details, see my comments under the "level 4 mock ski off short turn" video.
-The Results According to Blake : ) - *1st Place goes to Number 13 at 17:07. Alpine Performance. *2nd Place, I will give to Number 7 at 14:41. Beautiful Alpine/Freestyle Blend Style. *3nd Place goes to Number 33 at 4:53. This is very good. Solid Alpine Performance. *4th Place At 5:23 Number 28 is pretty smooth. Strong Performance. This is Freestyle Skiing. Well Done. *5th Place I have Number 22 in excellent flashy style at 5:52. *6th Place I will give to Skier Number 31 at 10:00. This skier is Stylistically Right Between Freestyle and Alpine. Nice Performance. *7th Place goes to Number 30 at 6:54. Good Alpine Skiing. Just a little wild looking. *8th Place, Number 23 is very good at 1:14. Very Strong Style and Very Functional Looking. Natural. Perhaps not the prettiest style out there that day. *This Ranking is difficult. For example, I find 2nd Place to be Stylistically Most Similar to the Skier that I have in 5th Place... While my 1st Place skier is Stylistically Similar to the skiers who I put in 3rd and 7th Place. -Honorable Mentions - Number 34 at 3:00 is a good female. Nice and smooth. I would date her, and so this is perhaps the greatest prize winner of all. Number 25 at 4:23 is pretty good. Number 26 at 9:23, honorable female performance. Not too bad at all. Number 24 at 10:28 is female? This is a strong performance. Chest out honey. Sit back like you're in a chair. Chin up. This was nearly a top performance. Number 11 at 15:50 is pretty cute and skilled. She is welcome to contact me too. We will make a ski video. Honorable mention, Skier Numbers 1-6 were all on the right track. There were even more. I had trouble picking a top 8.

Is this a part of the test for instructor such as csia?? If this is the test, what is the criteria for this??

I wonder why so many content makers turn off comments
You thought 24 excelled but 7 didn’t?
