FILM DESCRIPTION:
Interpol agent Louis Salinger (Clive Owen) joins forces with New York prosecutor Eleanor Whitman (Naomi Watts) to put an end to a powerful bank's funding of terrorism. Also, how bout the fact they’ll know someone shot him in the head while he was on the ground. Blood splatters, gun powder residue on face and floor. This is assuming the bullet didn’t go through which in that case bullet marking on floor.
They’d also probably know the second casing came from a different rifle.

He put the planted casing next to the one fired by the patsy shooter (so: yes, it is "in the right place") , there's nothing to prove to investigators that the rifle wasn't loaded with one in the chamber and a full magazine, which would be a reasonable deduction from the forensic evidence available.
If it was real, they would have had only one bullet in the mag or a full mag. If you’re planning to snipe someone you don’t plan to miss.

here's what happened as far as I understand it:
they get two snipers, with the idea being one of them unknowningly takes the fall so the investigation gets shut immediately. The corrupted cops were told beforehand which room the first sniper is in so they can nab him without any chance of him escaping, and so the captain can plant the second casing. The timer is there to make sure the first sniper misses his shot, otherwise Calvini having two bullets in his skull would reveal there are two snipers.
Why not just let the original Sniper take the shot and then kill him?
All of us do know that the trajectory in the forensic reports will not match and then someday, someone will open the case..
@@mdahsenmirza2536 it's later explained that the second sniper is a dedicated hitman to the IBBC (big scary international bank that's the antagonist of the movie) so they hired the first gunman who had radical political ties. I'm pretty sure the whole scene is supposed to be a spoof similar in design to the JFK conspiracy

The second sniper was there as an assurance, they didn't know the man was going to move right then, which is why the second shot doesn't happen immediately. If the first guy did get the hit, he still would have ended up dead, as would the speech giver.

The cop is opening himself up to intense scrutiny once they figure out the trajectory of the killing shot didn’t match our sniper and that he was executed while on the floor with a shot from a standing position to the head.
Also like a hundred of rooms to choose from with window access to the square and he knew exactly the one the sniper was in? Was the cop trained at Treadstone with Jason Bourne?

So apart from this movie being one of the strangest yet best plots I've seen in my life that I struggle to understand it but the amount of details in it is just amazing.
I train LE and the military in weapons and tactics. There's an old adage:
"A handgun is a great weapon to use to fight your way to ANY rifle."
Id rather have a handgun for engagements in a hotel than a bolt action rifle. Stop regurgitating fudd lore.
As a detective the only scenario that would force you to realize something is off would be if the mag for the sniper is full. Because after seeing that it’ll make sense for one cartridge to be on the ground due to the extra bullet already in the chamber.. but two cartridges on the ground? You’d have to make sure at least one bullet is missing from the mag for them to assume he was the primary suspect.
Yes but he shot the first bullet and missed. So that’s the first round. The second round is the one he killed him with.
@@zacken123 I think the commenter was saying the gun can hold X amount of rounds, he only shot one bullet, so the gun would be -1 rounds, instead of -2 rounds like was planted.
You could easily explain that as not having chambered a round before fully loading the magazine, e.g. if he has a 5 round mag and two cartridges are on the ground, are you expecting 3 or 4 rounds in the mag?
Also the angle of the wound, and from where the sniper fired that round.

Unless the firing pin had a unique deformity that would imprint onto the casing primer, it would be difficult to match the casing to the rifle. Even if it did, the bullet would not match the unique rifling of the barrel.
