Hello Dr. A, I found this video very helpful and informative. Another quick question - if Labs are doing Internal Split-Sample testing, how many total samples would you recommend on a semi-annual basis? I am sharing it with my team here at Medical Electronic Systems. Our automated semen analyzer is on the CAP proficiency schedule and your video gives a great overview for my team to learn from. Just wanted to send a shout-out! -Eric Carver, General Manager, Medical Electronic Systems.
Thanks, MES! This article from LabCE should be helpful to you. They recommend a minimum of 2 samples, twice per year. My opinion is that the number you select may depend on your volume of testing. If you have a high volume, maybe you should do more than 2. www.labce.com/spg1816410_protocol_for_split_sample_testing.aspx This thorough article from COLA recommends 5 split samples. I always err on the side of doing more than is required. Based on this article, I would do 5. www.labflorida.com/internal/COLA/guides/elf09.pdf
