    this is a review:
    Let us start off with the bass as we break down the frequencies. The lower end is everything you could expect for good quality, balanced bass. It is deep and solid. Kicks with a kickdrum sounded round, smooth, and punchy. In every other instrument, the low frequency output is well-defined and well-articulated. I only have great things to say in this area.
    I alluded to the midrange when I discussed the sound signature. Vocals and instruments in this region were natural and clear with a good range. However, the saturation, richness, and thickness were mostly standard with no surprises. One thing to note is snare drums did not sound very dynamic upon the strike of a drumstick. I have a big preference for fully saturated and warm midrange outputs, so this is where a lot of the Fidelio X3's sound signature differs from my personal preference.
    One big highlight of the Fidelio X3 is its awesome treble. The clear, bright, and crisp output made it incredible for instrumental music, especially for those who appreciate string instruments. Anything involving percussion like a cymbal or hi-hat was sharp, tight, immediate, and crisp with a sparkling touch as well. The remarkably clean and wet treble carries a lot of energy and I was impressed in almost every way. The only aspect I see room for improvement was a slight, but noticeable, lack of solidity and depth when metal is being hit.
    Here is the part you have all been waiting for: The Fidelio X3's soundstaging. These are open back headphones, and I will confirm that these have a super wide soundstage. I am going to say it again. It is super wide. There is massive depth and width, where all dimensions are extremely well-defined. You just have to experience it to understand. You will not be disappointed.
    Closing off with the auxiliary auditioning results, the imaging of the Philips Fidelio X3 was very realistic; staying true to the original production or recording. The layers were precisely produced with a perfect amount of detail. The resolution was nearly perfect across the range, as it picked up practically everything and anything in a quality encoded track. If you think you know your music, listen to the tracks all over again with the Philips Fidelio X3, and you will simply find it a totally new experience as you may discover things you have never noticed before.
    Deriving from this, the frequency separation was excellent. Again, every detail was almost perfectly reproduced, thanks to its clear, high definition, and clean separation. At the same time, the entire spectrum was cohesive with no transition effects, making it sound exactly as it should. I was also very impressed by how clean the sound comes out to be. It is hard to get much better than this.
    Overall, the Philips Fidelio X3 are incredible audiophile headphones for those who want to enjoy music at home without bothering the entire family. If you find its sound signature acceptable, which I understand is not everybody's preference, these headphones are very appealing in many ways. Do keep in mind these are open back headphones, so those in close proximity to you will still be able to hear what you are playing and are intrinsically not designed to block out external sound.

    Heres the difference
    2XHR - Consumer targetted, has a fun sound for normal consumers

      @@RootDen. It has everything to do with the graphs. You're saying any difference is placebo because Zeos hears no difference. But the graphs say something else. Apparently Zeos' hearing isn't as good as you think it is. You can disagree with the facts all you want, but that doesn't change them. Overall, X3 are less bassy and less accurate than X2HR. That's the objectively measured facts.

    • @tetrisgoat
      @tetrisgoat 2 года назад +7

      @@DuSeun If anything, this shows that measurements aren't everything, because ears are different, and the way sound waves interact with the available space.
      I have both, and the X2HR doesn't do anything better or more accurately than the X3. I can't even pick out the bass line with the X2HR. All I get is "is there bass? yup. what does the bass player do? no idea". The bass on the X3 is not only more accurate, tighter it is also less boomy. As a bass player, being able to pick out what other people (or even yourself! not that i would use these on either gigs or practice due to being open) are playing is kind of important. The X2HR's lower midrange is covered by the bass bloat, and the highs are sibilant as frick.
      I find nothing pleasant or accurate about the X2HR. If it measures more accurately, then you apparently need ears that are shaped like the measuring rig's. The clamping force is less though, which is one of only three points I can see where the X2HR has a redeeming feature (the other two being easier to find a replacement cable, and often better discounted). Like, I am not an X2HR hater or X3 lover. They are tools. And I expect a tool to do its job. If your hammer fits your hand perfectly, but is too small for mine, that doesn't make the hammer bad. Or those who decided how it would measure. Measurements are a guide, not a god.

    got both x3&x2hr, be honestlly and the sound is very very big different, the x3 can feel better dynamic, more tight bass details and less dynamic compression. if you listen to the violin or piano, you can hear the “Grainy” and “muscle” is more spririt than the X2HR. But X2HR still have these advantages. the 1st is the x2hr got deeper bass expansion. Yes!! the X3's bass is powerful but not too deep. The 2nd because the X2HR sounding more soft in whole frequency, especailly in treble range, you can feel some deeper soundstage and extensive soundfield.

    Also as a headphone aimed at audiophiles, so Philips say, why does it have an impedance of just 30 ohms? In my opinion a headphone like this for home hifi use would have been better with an impedance of at least 120 ohms. I find low impedance headphones do not work very well with hifi amplifiers, not much clarity and distort fairly easy.

    Hey, thanks for giving these quality reviews - two more headphone candidates now have been dropped from my search 😊 I would like to ask, if that's appropriate - what headphones (either closed or open-back) would you recommend with the following preferences: (1) I really like the tonal balance of the Sony mdr ex-650 earbuds, and would like something similar, but with a touch more detail, and over-ear. (2) About 200-300 EUR in price. (3) Easily driven from a smartphone, not needing a hi-res player or DAC. (4) Punchy, clear bass with a good sub-bass (not overbearing though), clear treble, but not too crisp or metallic, clinical, analytic and fatiguing (I'm returning the Beyerdynamic DT 700 Pro X for this reason). Mainly I need the headphones to relax at home in the evening hours, but also maybe to travel sometimes (so leaning slightly towards closed-backs). If you want to hear the bass they can produce you need a parametric EQ (I use EQu on iOS which is no longer available unfortunately). When using EQu you need to use a good headphone amp if you want to drive them to satisfactory volumes (when using the anti-clipping feature) they can actually pump out a lot more bass than you think possible! This does leave something to be desired when streaming Hi Rez but huge step up in resolution and details makes it worth it imo. Sound stage and separation is fantastic (especially with the Mojo but still very good with portable Sabre DACs like the Hidizs DH80S). Apple dongle is “OK” but it’s not going to drive the X2s to their full potential (even though they are fairly easy to drive!) The bass has improved a lot after using EQu to push their extension further than is possible without using parametric EQ. I’m pretty happy with them especially after getting mine open box for less than $100!

    • @PixelBlenders
      @PixelBlenders Год назад

      Ended up buying the X2HR open box for cheap to compare and honestly I didn’t think they had much more in the bass department. If anything, they sounded a bit more expansive in the sound stage department. Unfortunately, the clamp pressure on my head was a deal breaker for me. Hurt my temples even with shorter listening sessions. The X3 is just a better headphone imo but I ended up returning them both since none of them could hold a candle to my KZ ZSX IEMs that was much cheaper. Those things just give me everything I want and are wanting for nothing!

      I have been using the X2 since it came out 6 years ago. Decided to treat myself and bought the HD600 recently. I really enjoy it. At first I was kind of unimpressed because there is less bass than what I was used to. But after about a week of listening to it and letting my ear adjust to the sound, I love it. Switching back to the X2 now makes it sounds colored in comparison. X2 is still the more fun headphone to listen to as it has a more v-shaped sound but the HD600 has better clarity, no sibilance, less colored/closer to original music sound. Worth a try.
