- In this video we compare the Vango Banshee 200 Pro vs Kings Big Daddy Deluxe Swag, I quickly set both up then talk about where to use each system as well as giving you a few opinions.
I hope you enjoy the video.

Firstly, great video & thanks for doing it. However, it’s probably not a fair comparison or usage description.
Effectively, a tent is a “shelter” and a (traditional) swag was a “bed” - no shelter at all.
These days, swags seem to have merger into the tent category with some people calling them “swents” as its a tent WITH bedding (mattress, blankets etc). Also, I think a larger swag like you were showing is more for when you want to camp somewhere for a while, like a week or so & you want to really settle into a spot.
Also to note, a lot of people say that tents are so light, which they are, BUT you still need to add in your mattress & blanket/sleeping bag & pillow which will add to the weight. And if you took the bedding out of a swag, it would be a lot lighter too.
That said and if all things were equal, like a 2 man tent with bedding versus a double sized swag (of a good design), what would be the pro’s and cons.
A tent would in essence be lighter, but flaps away in the wind, the material acts like a plastic bag creating a lot of condensation, not free standing, needs a fly in the rain, it’s structure solely relies on your tent pegs holding. In heavy wind and rain, it could all collapse on you when you need it most. It’s great for overnight stays before backpacking on by foot. Takes longer to set up.
A swag (swent), is free standing, waterproof without a fly, venting options even when raining (depending on swag design), doesn’t flap in the wind, can be set up in a minute or 2. Waterproof bucket flooring , canvas is stronger & can breath somewhat. But yes, it is heavier.
Personally I have the 23zero Outbreak 1550 and this thing is a sturdy little “home”. It came with a fly but it’s not necessary as it’s already weatherproof. It has 4 entry options so even when it rains you can get in or out without any water getting in and it has gusseted windows so you can still have ventilation during a storm. People have commented that they’ve had their 23zero outbreak in 75km winds & it handled it without issue! I was looking at the Darche Nebula, but it doesn’t have the venting options when it rains like the Outbreak 1550 does.
I plan to get a 1m wide mattress & swap it out so it rolls up to half the size & less weigh. I’m confident I can carry it as a backpack (on my back) with my backpack on my front. I should be able to walk a fair way still.
Swags are great if you have the room 4wding or car camping. You can also roll them up with your blankets or sleeping bag still in them. I don’t know why they are not more popular in the UK as the canvas holds in body heat and they are very warm. I have woken up in mine with a few inches of snow around me and was still as warm as toast.
Great comparison video and good ideas love the swag lol I have one that is like a big canvas bivi only used it twice... also imported from Australia.... keep up the videos and be safe!!
Cheers spi another entertaining video keep them coming mate 👍🏻⛺️
Thanks for watching again brother, appreciate the support
That swag looked the size and weight of my six man tent lol, there are so many options out there so much to choose from which is great for us, great video and its always worth doing a video from WA:UK.
The swag is awesome bye the car or a sort distance walk.the light one fantastic for a good proper hike. Great video well done WA:UK.thank guys.👍🍺🇬🇧🤘
If it's set-up time we looking at, an Auto tent opens up like an umbrella!!
The Best option I have experienced
Great video love the idea of swags 👍👍
I do like the idea of a swag for speed & that's a great size but reckon you're spot on re the rain! Maybe under a vehicle awning would be good too !!
Thanks 4 the good review 👍 Stay safe
The Kings gear is considered cheap and nasty here in Australia, the after sales service is horrific
Absolutely agree, I own a 23Zero
Good vid mate another thing to test would be a fishing bivvy, probably lighter than the swag with more room and fairly cheap,... Just a thought
Cracking video I like that wag looks great stay safe atvb jimmy 😎😎
Many styles of swags in Australia, have only seen top entry swags on UK previews, but there are some side entry ones.Mine is a Black Wolf Ryeback, is side entry. Most also have an end entry. Also it doesnt rain that much in Australia.
Exactly bud, they are more for,the Australian climate, I have seen a top entry single man, but the are more like a swag
Been non stop rain here for the last fee months, east coaster here
Exactly what I’ve thought about those swag bag tents. Interesting video just the same. Fingers crossed it won’t be too long before we can all get out there
Great bits of kit if you're more of a vehicle camper, and frequent shows and such.. They are so comfy.
Wilderness Adventures UK (WA:UK) as you say a tarp over the top is what’s needed. Built in mattress is a great idea.
Good stuff mate, going to buy both of em.
I ended up selling the swag mate, I still have my banshee that I hope to use more this year
@@WildernessAdventuresUK whats cause you to sell the swag? Im still wondering should i get a roof top tent or a swag.
@@shawnyap9358 was a little to heafty bud, I bought a the Dutch Hooped Bivvy and a Dutch army tent with the cash raised.. OK they ain't anywhere near as comfy but much more manageable when transporting
@@WildernessAdventuresUK ahhh understand, yeah! Thats the same main point which cause me to think twice. Probably will go on roof top tent, but will look at overall my truck weight.
@@shawnyap9358 have a look at army tents too, 9x9s and such, had the price of roof tents and bags of room!
Good vid Spi 👍👍
awesome video man, have a look on you tube at 4wd action and 4 wheeling Australia. for tips with swags
Good vid spiro mucker 👍
That’s probably the biggest swag on the market. Good when you go bush bashing or beach camping with the kids. But in your own a single is fine
hi buddy as most things in life its horses for courses everything got it use in the right setting keep safe
Can you ask your mate where he got it from as I'm trying to get one of these imported to the UK,
to replace my one man swag, so the family can come camping.
This one is actually going soon, I have someone wanting it promised I'd wait will after lockdown so he can come get it - but I will ask him and if this buyer pulls out you can have dibs bud
Wilderness Adventures UK (WA:UK) thanks mate, defo up for buying it, been trying to find a “cheap” good double swag as I refuse to buy a roof tent.
4WD Supercentre in Australia are the Kings brand distributors, are in most capital cities. Check out reviews on youtube.
@@grantyandell8362 The problem is I'm not in Aus
Try Outhaus, they are a Uk company that make swags, just bought one myself!
🇦🇺swags all the way! Aussie 🇦🇺
Yeah! Fcuk those flimsy fly away tent rubbish!
Yeah all for different purposes really. I mean you wouldn't take that swag out on a long distance hike. Mark
Swags are bulky n heavy!! So swags take up to much room
Okayyyyy... Would you like to tell us what you use and why?
