I have to say that it is unusual for me to like another version of a song. I almost always liked the first version better and dislike the second. I loved Conway Twitty’s version. I researched to see if he wrote it…that’s how I got here I have to say that I also loved this version. When you factor in there is no background vocals, few instruments, no sound studio and probably recorded with someone’s phone…this was an amazing version. I really wished he could have recorded this himself. This song always made me kinda sad, not because I mourned anything I lost, but what I never had with my own father. This song best describes my husband. I love this song!!! Thanks for sharing. Thank the Lord for good fathers
Conway sang it like he felt it. Gary is singing it like he wrote it & he's trying to match Conway's magic, but just can't reach it. This version is good, but Conway's version is amazing & timeless.
Again, a great talent unrecognised by the world....he made several songs on her comfy tour of Australia and New Zealand.....Gary and King did best duet of Up on The Roof (no disrespect to the legendary James Taylor).
Don't think so. Buffett's "That's My Job" has nothing in common with this one but the title, and the title isn't unusual, just an everyday expression. You might try asking Luke Combs about "Even Though I'm Leaving," which tells virtually the same story as this.
Beautiful! This made me cry. Made me think of the Heavenly Father...

Does Gary believe this song may have given the legendary Jimmy Buffett the idea to write a song with virtually the same name?
