It is difficult to classify which Bee Gees song the best. Each time I listen to their song I would love that song. Its amazing 😊❤❤ Each song has its own unique groove and awesome lyrics wow no words to say.......😊😊😊
Just go with it. Heck I can’t even understand what they’re saying half the time but who shives a get- it’s like being in heaven for about 3-4 minutes.I’ve been listening and loving the bee gees back when my mother use to put the 8 track in on all of our road trips we’d take. She was born in 1941! Anyway -I love your reaction-it makes me so proud watching how this generation enjoys/reacts to this trio and baby brother-Andy. Thank you!
YAY!!! I've so been looking forward to hearing (and watching...) Your reaction to "ONE"! I think You sort of missed the words preceding "the slave part"😉 - "...You'll be my only possession, I'll be a slave to You, We hold the power together, Just me and You..." My absolute favorite part of the lyrics is "You know my life is in Your hands, And every breath we take is planned, And all this love goes on forever..." I've lost count by now of how many times I've watched this official clip of "ONE". I've adored the song, ever since I first heard it back in the day, and I'll never get tired of listening to it. However, it's seeing these three Musical Geniuses on stage together during this performance that always brings a huge smile to my face - Robin in that cap, not able to keep still for one second, Maurice smiling and moving to the beat, as he's looking at his brothers, and big brother Barry tapping his feet, while turning his arm out towards his younger brothers as they sing the chorus together, "We are ONE"... Well, You didn't disappoint - another great and honest reaction (which is why I keep coming back for more...), my friend!💕
"You'll be my only possession, I'll be a slave to you", that's the give and take balance, then "we hold the power together" instead of apart 🙂 Fabulous song! I wonder what Barry looked at at 1:48 🙂
Yes, they both hold the power. You missed a line, "You'll be my only possession...I'll be a slave to you...We hold the power together, just me and you.." So they are are equals. Go back and listen for it, it's my favorite part, that and the syncopation starting at around 5:40. It's like an emotional crescendo if that makes any sense, lol!
Barry is right they both hold the power, that is how they become ONE... She is his Possession and he will be her Slave ! It's actually both ways without the one you cannot have the other.. That is how much their Commitment means to each of them... I Love this song..💖💖
1989 was the year fans waited for after the fierce backlash for most of the 80's. It was a glorious return to radio in America and it seemed like they were back for good, but it wasn't until 1997 when the accolades came pouring in and they scored their final Top 40 hit with the worldwide hit "Alone".
I love the moment early in the song when Barry turns and smiles at Robin and Maurice. What a beautiful thing to see! Maurice's smile throughout and he has some dance moves too - so enjoyable. Lovely song and I can see why it was a top ten for so long!
I really like Mr Cool's (Maurice) dance moves. I've always liked the Bee Gees and I've been a real crazy Barry fan, but Maurice just got hotter and sexier and more good-looking As Time passed. I understand the song Man in the middle had a lot to do with him being between Barry and Robin and their disagreements, but in some ways I think that he was probably the most underrated Bee Gee. He was in the background more than Barry Robin. At one point Barry called Maurice the soul of the group another time he called him the heart of the group. That's why the Bee Gees ended with Mo's passing. 💔😢 The heart stopped and the Soul left with Moe's passing.
@@Tessiefaye I agree. Did you ever see the fighting back interview with Vanessa redgrave? She approaches the dock and Maurice is standing there between two pier pillars and he is just so handsome and sexy in that picture. If I was her I think I may have fallen off the boat.
I'm very emotional listing to this reaction to "One." It takes looking at their whole body of work to realize they were not an ordinary group but a fantastic combination of three musical geniuses. I liked this song since I first heard it; it just touch the part of me with the desire to be "One." I still Swoon to Barry's voice, stage presence, and boy he looks good in those jeans. I love them all but I've always had a special place for Barry in my heart. Good music
The lyrics prior to that one your asking about.. Barry sings You will be my only possession, and then, I'll be a slave to you...together we hold the power... as one..
You need to check out the studio versions of their songs. They are so fantastic and they give you the actual brothers as they're singing the song. Get well God bless 🙌
One of my favorite songs! Thank you for finally getting to it. They once said the album name One was in reference to them being as one. This album was supposed to have been made with Andy, but of course, he passed sadly just shortly before they were supposed to start it. Andy was going to become part of the group it's said.
On the one hand, I think they are referencing themselves and their harmonies in genius lyrics full of great pickup lines. On the other hand.... The album is titled ONE, and the cover is a black and white close up of each of them side by side, not smiling. (It’s fascinating to see the facial similarities.) They called the tour One For All, a play on The 3 Musketeers’ “One for all, and all for one” motto, but the song is definitely a reference to the Biblical scripture traditionally used in wedding ceremonies, so a commercial love song. Andy died in 1988, and the album includes the tear jerker dedicated to him. WISH YOU WERE HERE. Because he was supposed to join them in time for that tour, I’ve always wondered if the song ONE was written, or at least conceived, before Andy died, with plans for his face and voice and presence debuting his becoming an official Bee Gee. What a fire that would have ignited!!! Instead we get what I always see as a slight space between Barry and Robin’s faces on the cover where Andy might have been, and in a true “show must go on” style of seasoned performers, they deliver an upbeat love song, and a standout concert tour, with every interview asking about Andy. That 1989 tour was one of their best!!!
You know, its funny, I was staring at that album cover this morning analyzing the space between Robins eye and Barrys eye. I do think that was going to be for Andy.
I agree. I'm looking at it right now, and the picture is stripped down of their faces, without hair and other physical traits. So many familial similarities.
Okay, first THANK YOU for reacting to "One." I love this song with the fire of a thousand Suns. There are all the great components i.e. Barry's magnificent voice and beautiful harmonies, but there is so much heart too. Watch Barry at 1:48. He sings "I can feel you by my side when you're not there," and turns and looks straight at his brothers. I melt. I love the lyrics, even the possession, slave and power sharing thing. I think he is just trying strongly to convey equal devotion. Musically it is just wonderful. I must have heard it a thousand times and the bass line at 3:51 right before Barry sings "I will follow" never fails to raise the goosebumps. I don't know if I ever heard or read anything specifically about this, but the Bee Gees did a concert in 1991 in Berlin, after the wall fell. There is video of this enormous crowd in an outdoor amphitheater and they are singing along with this song with such strong emotion. It made me wonder how they connected "One" to reunification. Regardless, Thank You. I love this and the "One" album is just great.
_Yes, yes... that groovy "roll" right before the lyric definitely gives the song an extra boost/edge and it's nice on the ears. Always loved the sound of bass anyway. Thanks for your feedback!_
@@hereonthe3L I am with you. A good funked out bass line is one of the great things about many songs on the 1975 Main Course album. They emphasized with dual bass lines, from the bass guitar and one on synths. Picture Nights on Broadway and Jive Talkin' and Wind of Change. Love it all.
This was recorded at a special meet and greet in Shepperton studios England for many fans of the boys! I just get a glimpse of the top of my head at the 2’15 mark. It was a great night for all involved as they rehearsed for their upcoming “ONE” tour. “ONE” is my own personal favourite album.

Chad, thank God you're back this weekend! I had withdrawal due to the absence of your Bee Gees reactions last weekend. Something I find interesting in this video that Robin, the worst dancer in history, was actually keeping time here. I think in utero he was given four disparate limbs by accident because none of them seemed coordinated together. His dancing was "adorkable". Don't know how he managed here. I might suggest he was drunk but he never touched a drop of alcohol. He was a total teetotaler. 🥀My favorite songs by These Guys I'm living every minute of it..they believe in God strongly they believe to love this deep to ever who their with..lol but very true🥀☝️🥀
It is quite strange that this was their biggest hit in US in 1980's. It is strange because they made a song in 1987 called You Win Again that went number 1 in the UK but did only go to 75on US billboard list. If this is the first song from the One album you reacted to, you should also react to "Whish You Were Here" that was a tribute to their brother Andy that died the year before. It is an very emotional song for them and they never did this live as they just could not do it.
Chad, thank you, thank you, thank you for another great "Bee Gees" marathon weekend! What a great start to our weekend, definitely "One" of my favorites and I totally agree with you that their three part harmonies couldn't be any more perfect than they are in this wonderful song. Of course we have come to expect only perfection from these three amazing men! Looking forward to this fantastic weekend you have in store for us.
Hi Chad, good to see you again, so it's always a pleasure. About the whole context, there's no conflict, who's over the other. Equality. But I'd like to tellya, what Barry said in interviews about his sexlife, before he met Linda: "I was sort of womanizer, always had rings in my pockets. Gave it to every pretty girl, which came lil near to me and I swear, it always led to bed". You see, he must have found the right words and together with his look, noone could resist. So lyrics like "I'll be a slave to you" are pretty appropriate. Same time, they had a song called "Flesh And Blood" and I'm sure, you'll like it.
It's funny, I never completely understood this song until I Married my best friend , we literally did everything together. well except Clean the house😂.. Not many Couples are lucky enough to like doing the same things. We made it 26 years together before he was called home..
Hi Chad. I believe you have reacted to Bodyguard from this album. So it is the second song from this album you have reacted to. I would like to request “Wish you were here” from this same album
YES - "Wish You Were Here" is not only a beautifully arranged piece of harmonies, instruments and lyrics, it's the brother's heartfelt tribute to their baby brother Andy. The fact that they never performed this track in front of a live audience, testifies to their deep emotional connection to the brother whose voice went silent way too soon...💜
The bee gees BY FAR my favorite...but watched September and Fantasy from Earth Wind and Fire . Jazzy stuff. Entertaining to see what they wore as well.
Thanks a lot. Very nice song but by far not my fav from the album "ONE". So the tracks I do prefer are are 1. "Wing and a prayer", 2. the crazy (for me) and odd "Flesh and blood" with Robin's particularly terrific lead vocals, 3. "Ordinary lives", 4."Tokyo nights", 5."Tears", .
I quite like this song but I've always been surprised that this did well in the US when You Win Again (that I think is much better) didn't. Maybe it was just taste in different countries or that the disco backlash was finally over and it was just better timing.
Barry always said he couldn't understand why the radio stations were still refusing to play their songs. He was referring to You Win Again at the time.

Thanks a lot. Very nice song but by far not my fav from the album "ONE". So the tracks I do prefer are are 1. "Wing and a prayer", 2. the crazy (for me) and odd "Flesh and blood" with Robin's particularly terrific lead vocals, 3. "Ordinary lives", 4."Tokyo nights", 5."Tears",
.
I don't care what they sing mate, i forgive em.
Never heard this before. Love it
LOVE the 80s BGs. ‘Nuff said. As per Jerry Seinfeld, people in a couple can be equals but whoever “has hand” can alternate.

Reaction Barry Gibb moonlight
I quite like this song but I've always been surprised that this did well in the US when You Win Again (that I think is much better) didn't. Maybe it was just taste in different countries or that the disco backlash was finally over and it was just better timing.
Barry always said he couldn't understand why the radio stations were still refusing to play their songs. He was referring to You Win Again at the time.
Love You Win Again. The stomp beat so awesome!
You should also listen to the You should be dancing recommended at the end of that video you watched!
