    Since September 2019, my life has been about loss and endings. I hope that will change soon. I appreciate the reminder that it’s all a part of life, but I’m so tired. I commented recently that I wonder if some people die because they can’t deal with any more losses. That’s Winter talking. I’m ready for some positive change, for some opportunity to move on and not remain stuck in this sad cycle. Thank you for your support for my skin and my life.

    Hi Kelly the Scottish Winter plays havoc with my skin and we had snow last week. My rosacea and eczema prone mature skin has been going mental tbh and flaring a lot. I've had to stop my retinoid and any other actives, concentrating only on soothing/healing. The Niod modulating glucosides is a favourite and current daily staple morning and night. Over that I've been using the Aveeno calm and restore serum (I had to stop the cosrx snail essence and Mary and May centella serum - both were stinging/burning). Finally the Avene intense soothing cream and PC calm mineral spf30 is my spf of choice during a rosacea flare. Once it calms down I'll slowly introduce my other products back in, but for now it's pretty simple tbh. Best wishes.

      Oh no, the last drags of winter have been harsh! It sounds like you have your emergency routine down, just going down to the soothing basics! I just reordered a new bottle of Niod MG because being without that one is not an option!

    My February faves are discovering Stratia Liquid Gold from yourself and Facetheory Exaglow Serum (5% tranexemic acid, recommended by Rob from Mad About Skin). LG has been so reparative for my skin and I really see a difference in my moisture barrier strengthening over time. Exaglow has worked beautifully hand in hand with Vit C to fade acne scars and redness in about 3 weeks time. Great to hear that you’re mind and body are strengthening with swimming. Over the past 8 months I’ve been working hard on running on the threadmill and I love feeling and looking fitter~

    Amorapacific is onsale on Sephora page I think they are pulling out of Sephora because it's like almost 50% off the 5 oz essence is 104$ and they have a set that has mini products that was 95$ for like 45 and the other stuff is onsale too ,I was looking at it last night but I still don't know if I can pay 104$ for an essence even though it's like 70$ off.

    Definitely trying the hero balm! My routine is already stacked with soothing products like mugwort, centella, and ceramides but I’ve accepted that the redness from my rosacea prone skin will never truly go away. Thanks for the rec!

      I mean, I used to feel this way about the redness from my rosacea and then I talked to my dermatologist. She recommended excel v laser and it’s made a massive difference in my redness. Life changing if your redness if vascular, which can’t really be improved by topical skincare

    • @cmnguyen221
      @cmnguyen221 2 года назад +1

      @@noneofurbusiness5223 I’ll typically use a mugwort essence and then a centella serum. I don’t think one is better than the other, but I personally think centella is more multi-purpose

      @@kzvegansuperstar I’ve definitely considered laser, but I have a darker skin tone (Fitzpatrick 3-4) and can scar easily. I know lasers traditionally can be risky for people with darker skin tones so I need to look into it more

    • @kzvegansuperstar
      @kzvegansuperstar 2 года назад +1

      @@cmnguyen221 totally valid concern! the excel V laser is a vascular laser and doesn’t ablate any of the skin’s surface so shouldn’t pose the same risks as a resurfacing laser, but talk to your derm of course!

  • @aaronrose641

    I'm curious about how you would use the hero rescue balm vs a cica balm like the la Roche posay cicaplast! This or that? I guess also versus the beauty of Joseon glow serum. I have acne prone skin and am still trying to make sense of what to use when. My understanding is that something like BHA is more preventative, pimple patches are when you have active white heads, spot treatment like the inkey list succinic acid is for the red under the skin ones, and the balms are for calming or healing after something pops.... And the glow serum is more for the aftermath.

    Just ordered the Mediheal serum to try! The ingredients list is quite long! I was surprised to see xylitol and corn starch! Food for your face? :-) Thanks for all of your in depth videos. There are so many videos out there about products that influencers rave about, but they don't tell you why! i love that you go into to texture, ingredients, how things work together and all of the rest!! *(& shocker, no TONERS made the fav list??!!!! lol ) Thanks again!!

    • @KellyDriscoll
      @KellyDriscoll  2 года назад +1

      I'm so excited to hear what you think of it! Xylitol is a water binding sugar that can actually provide a nice amount of hydration for the face, corn starch helps the texture but also has some moisture to offer too! No new toners this month because I'm focusing on emptying some older open products, you'll see a lot of toner and essences in my next empties video!

    Hello. If you had to choose between the Amorepacific vintage essence or the SK2, which one would you choose?

  • @assimpleasgravity
    @assimpleasgravity 2 года назад +1

    Hey Kelly! I would love to try the green rescue balm (still reluctant since I' have to order directly from their site) and the Amore Pacific seems amazing, but sadly not in the budget at the moment... I really felt it when you talked about the struggle with sensitive skin in harsh winter weather and to top it all off I've just switched from adapalene to tretinoine and my skin seemed fine for like 10 days and now it's caught on. I'm currently trying a miniature size of the LRP lipikar AP syndet cleanser (you mentioned it as your fave 2-in-1) and I like it so far, but I'm still a bit undecided whether or not I should go for that one or the Bioderma sensibio gel cleanser?
    As someone who used to train in swimming 3 times a week when I was a teenager I love hearing about how you're building strength and realizing getting better. I've waned to get back into swimming for a while - with some reoccurring blockade in the upper back - this might be the motivation boost I needed.
    Talking about new beginnings, I've just this week restarted a fitness routine trying to balance working out without exhausting and overwhelming the body, keeping up with self-care and generally being attentive but not obsessive ... I'm restarting a (hopefully but not mandatory) daily yoga practice because during the first lockdown my daily yoga helped my immensely.
    Feeling the in-betweenness is definitely true for me right now ... but I'm going to say yes and accept the ending of some things ... As always, thank you Kelly!
    Also, thank you for making this a UNICEF fundraiser video. As a European, I woke up to a very devastating new reality last Thursday so I really appreciate this.

      @AwakingOceanborn 2 года назад

      I was trying to decide if I should switch from adapalene to tret and you just gave me an answer… NOPE.
      I feel you, I’m also in Europe, and my mum and I didn’t even realise what had happened until lunchtime because on Thursday we spent all morning on a consultation for my LASIK surgery and they didn’t have the news on at the clinic and we didn’t tune the news in the car. It was definitely a “WTF did just come on TV” when we saw it on the mid-day news. It’s horrifying.

    • @assimpleasgravity
      @assimpleasgravity 2 года назад

      @@AwakingOceanborn Hey, yeah, it hit everyone in my immediate circle like a ton of bricks even if you sadly could see it coming for weeks prior. What is nice is to see the solidarity of the so many countries.
      With the switch to tret, I've only switched two weeks ago so I can't say anything yet but since I have very reactive dry sensitive skin I actually feel like my skin is handling the switch much better than I thought, there's some irritation and of course dryness but what could be considered irritation or purging is so far minimal. I didn't even feel the need to wear makeup to conceal it I just look a bit exhausted to be honest. :)
      For reference I've been using adapalene for close to two years now.

      I'm so glad you enjoyed this video! I guess the biggest difference between the LRP and Bioderma cleansers is the light moisture the LRP provides, if that is something your skin especially likes stick with it, if not bioderma is super gentle and pleasant to use! Good luck with your new routine, sounds like you are starting off kind to your body which is so important as you build your stamina (not just physical). Pushing yourself too hard never works out long term and I love when you said attentive not obsessive! 😍 I like so many in US are watching the Ukraine situation closely, it's beyond belief that war in Europe could happen again in our lifetime. I hope we can all find ways to support our fellow humans in need at this time.❤

    • @assimpleasgravity
      @assimpleasgravity 2 года назад

      @@KellyDriscoll Thanks Kelly! The light moisture is really nice, so I'll stick with the LRP first and try the Bioderma once summer comes. Although I'm so confused since my skin has these tiny whiteheads that seem to come and go in a matter of hours (and thought it was the shea butter) but I guess that's the tretinoin... so I'm letting it do its thing and trusting the process.
      The attentive not obsessive thing actually comes from experience during the pandemic were I wanted to rebuilt a yoga and fitness routine but in retrospect just overdid it. So "attentive not obsessive" has kinda become a mantra for this new year.
      And with the current situation here in Europe, you said it so well that we just need to find ways to support fellow humans in need🤍

  • @AwakingOceanborn

    What a month has been indeed. If it makes you laugh I’m watching this while whacking my new pair of Dr Martens with a tiny hammer to soften them up. The hammer has strawberries printed on it.
    I know it isn’t a serum for moisture barrier but have you ever tried the Blanc Doux Probiotics Cera-Liquid? Because it does look very promising, sort of like the cream skin refiner (which I haven’t tried either) but with ceramides which is what caught my eye. I really get what you say about products with a tiny bit of oil in them being great, I don’t have the budget for Amore Pacific but my skin loves when I add a drop of a light oil to my moisturiser or, when I use it underneath, to a lotion. It’s not that I need thicker/greasier moisturisers, those make me feel shellac-ed, but the addition of straight up oils does my skin so good.
    My favourite product this month is the Suntique I’m medi sunscreen, fully physical spf that isn’t incredibly matte and drying (actually kind of a “healthy finish”) that doesn’t make me look ghostly.
