You never know bravery until tested and up against true life/death situation. Whenever I feel my life is difficult or stressed, I remind myself of people who had to endure war times like WWII and sometimes sacrificed their lives for posterity and freedom. I’m humbled and grateful. Women (or anyone who sacrifices for others) like this should always be honored and never forgotten.

She later became a flight instructor. Nadezhda also was a squadron commander in the 46th Taman Guards Night Bomber Regiment (aka: The Night Witches) during the Second World War who achieved significant domestic publicity after completing 18 bombing sorties in one night with navigator Yekaterina Ryabova. It is no wonder that almost every family in the former Soviet Union had one or more of their members killed in that war. More than 25 million dead (soldiers and civilians) Germany about 6 million mainly soldiers) the British and the US about 400-600 thousand dead mainly soldiers. That's why that war has had such an effect up to this date in the Soviet and today Russian psyche. And I think it's a shame because the European Union chose to honour the day of the WWII (9th of May) as the day of birth of "Europe" EU, on the very day the Russians honour that day to remember the great patriotic war. The effort to downgrade and eventually forget what happened then is obvious along with the effort to distort history facts (e.g. EU parliament "voted" a resolution that acknowledged that the ones who started WWII are the Nazis and the Soviets). It seems that time goes by, social conditions change, but people remain the same ready to repeat the same policies they once deplored, but in essence embrace, without even understanding they are doing the same things. I think Nazism has far deeper roots within western European civilization and expressed many more than what is only related by official History to a group of "bad" Germans with Hitler as leader. That's why a lot of them fought along with the German army especially in the eastern front

@Ryan Shirtz What you say is right. Especially for the thousands of Polish officers who died by the hands of Beria and Stalin. I am not an expert in history-but from what I know there were also Finnish soldiers' divisions fighting the Soviets along the Wehrmacht. And what was the Polish approachment towards it's neighbours, especially Czechoslovakia, before the war? How many millions of Soviets died in the hands of Stalin? How many more Russians suffered in the hands of Stalin before and after the war? Russians, and generally the Soviets, did not fight for Stalin, nor for communism in which they had suffered, but to defend their motherland. And also how many German young people had to leave their families and face the reality of war and death in europe and the eastern front. Not all of them were fantasized by Hitlers' Lebensraum. They wanted to live a normal life and many of them did not come back. These all are real history and one has to look deep into it, up to the lives-and souls-of ordinary people to understand what happened. These were historic events triggered and planned by the then leaderships of those countries. What I am trying to say is that, instead of revisiting and remembering what happened then so as to get insight of what happened then and not repeat it, especially todays' Europe's (EU) leaders choose to downgrade it, even not refer to it as if it didn't happen. Something which can not be done by the Russians for the reasons I mentioned in my first comment. Result: Since 1992, with the downfall of the Berlin war, communism and the disintegration of the Soviet Union, instead of having a peaceful time and cooperation of countries, all hell broke loose and we had countless wars (middle East, Yugoslavia, North Africa) initiated primarily by European countries (Britain, France, Germany, Italy etc) USA and NATO, who should have been taught by what happened in WWII. Instead they see enemies and adversaries everywhere. The world is actually RUNNING towards WWIII

But to present and or reflect on German values as anything civilized is absolutely ludicrous in the face of concentration camps and especially the fact that German Wehrmacht, upon entry into the Eastern front had a whole army of human extermination units called Einsatzgruppen (soldiers of death) who were responsible for rounding up defenseless Slavic, Roma and Jewish civilians and their children in the thousands and massacring them en masse in the forests all over Ukraine, Belarus, the Baltics and Moldavia. Ultimately, the most gruesome, horrific, brutal acts of human genocide were committed by German forces thus resulting in the Holocaust of 6 plus million lives. It was this rampant German beastly brutality that summoned the Russian people to fight with all the resources available at a cost of 24 million lives. @@oscarwildeghost "the heroic Poles" - damn, that's a good one! 🤣
Want to talk "civilized', bitch? Let me tell you about your heroes.
They are not some fucking martyrs, sweetie. The Soviets had a damn good reason for attacking them - they were returning their rightful lands, that Poland occupied during the Polish-Soviet War. You know, the war *that Poland started.*
During that war the Poles carried out mass executions of civilians and a full-scale ethnic cleansing. In 1919, Jozef Pilsudski set up concentration camps in which 70,000 Russian prisoners of war were tortured to death or executed. Among the prisoners were many officers, elite guardsmen, as well as civilians.
The prisoners of war were completely deprived of medical assistance, including from representatives of the Red Cross. On October 20, 1920, Wilson, secretary of the POWs Department of the American Christian Youth Association, visited Prisoner Camp No. 2 in Wadowice. He testifies that people were severely ill and their clothes were rotting. The wounded lay for weeks without bandaging, worms started to grow in their wounds, and an unbearable stench stood in the barracks. The prisoners were forbidden to go outside, even to relieve themselves. They were fed with scraps, used as a pulling force when transporting goods and as live targets for shooting.
On December 2, 1920, the High Commissioner for Epidemic Control and Colonel of the Medical Service, Professor Godlewski, reported to the Polish Minister of War Sosnkowski that on November 24 he visited the Wadowice POW camp together with representatives of the League of Nations. One of the representatives, Professor Madsen, described what he saw as follows: *"what is happening in this camp is perhaps the most horrifying thing that I have seen in my life."*
Godlewski himself says the following about the conditions in which prisoners are kept:
      - "The situation existing there is simply inhuman and contrary not only to all the requirements of hygiene, but also to culture in general."
      - "The prisoners who were there made me shudder with their appearance: to such an extreme they were starved, emaciated and exhausted."
      - "If this state of affairs continues, in less than 100 days, everyone in the camp will die out."
Among the Polish prisoners of war, about 3,000 died. And not because of poor conditions, but from typhus. Nuff said.
Well, Russians were not the only ones who were massacred by the Poles. They also did it to the Germans. Just two words: *Bloody Sunday.*
Poland cannot into space, but Poland can into genocide, I guess.
Should have killed more of those fucking dogs. Hopefully soon we will have a chance to correct this shameful oversight 👌

All socialist regimes are nationalist and racist and engage in atrocities, genocides and general mayhem for the personal profit of their elite, which over time often becomes hereditary. Socialist regimes traditionally enslave their workforce once they secure their power in a country. Socialism is about making a socialist elite rich at the expense of everyone else. This has been the case from the Bolshevik Empire all the way to present-day socialist regimes like in Nicaragua, China, Venezuela, Vietnam, Cuba and Syria. This is, for example, why hair weaves and cotton from China was very likely produced by Uighur slaves. It is also why there are so few Hmong left in Indochina and so few tourists from North Korea. And so on.

This demonic organization is the front for One World Government. Rockefeller and the Rothschild clans are its true "founders and financiers." They have since enveloped in others of "like mind." So let me get this straight, Allowing women to make their own free choices on whether they want to serve in the armed forces or not is seen as barbaric by the Germans but torturing women like savages is a civilized act. Then they wonder why the Soviet retaliation against the Germans was so brutal, as if Germans showed up at their doorsteps with roses and chocolates. I can only imagine how enraged and how much animosity one would develop after witnessing your women and even children being treated this way. Any soldier caught torturing any human being
(That goes for both sides, and including current militaries of the world) should be tried on the spot and executed. As far as I'm concerned if you enjoy that sort of thing that means you are seriously psychologically disturbed and vile to the core, and should have no business being in armed forces. Wars are horrific enought, so you want people with integrity, morals, and values being in charge to minimize atrocities, not sociopaths who are trying to exploit the situation to victimize people for their own sick indulgence.

That terrible war started when a young man Bosnian Serbian, in his 20s, named Gavrilo Princip (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gavrilo_Princip) decided to assassinate the prince of the Habsburg family (Emperators of Austria or something similar), so that Bosnia instead of being part of the Austrian Hungarian Empire it became part of Serbia. The Austrians demanded that Serbia hand over the murderer of the prince, Serbia refused, Austria declared war on Serbia, Russia then declared war on Austria and it was already an avalanche effect. In Serbia a large number of monumentthey are dedicated to Gavrilo Princip ("in gratitude for what he did") en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_of_Archduke_Franz_Ferdinand

@@mariepi and then Germany invaded France through Belgium. This bothers me MORE about Germany than the Nazi's. When it comes to the Nazi's, I can see that they were just a reaction to Boshevism, however foul they ended up becoming. The Bolshis set themselves up so that only the REAL CRAZIES could take them out --> enter the nazi's. What the HELL was up with invading Belgium and France in 1914 though? On some pretense that France was allied with Russia who was defending the slavs in Serbia, etc. etc. The buildup and breakout of WWI is one of the absolute just most crazy things in world history. It should have just been another local Balkan war (they had just finished another one). Instead, it turned into all that calamity. But the German invasion of Belgium in 1914, and the cruelty with which it was carried out, is hard for me to get my head around. I can at least understand where the nazi's CAME from, but I can't understand the Belgium thing at all.

After the war, and after most, not all, prisoners had been vetted, cleared and were able to emigrate, he went to Scotland and married my Grandmother, an Edinburgh local, and took her surname in favour of his German name. A while after settling down, he was questioned by UK authorities if he had witnessed incidences of German atrocity against Russian civilians or military. Until such time, they must be treated as prisoners of war.[4] After a "competent tribunal" has determined that an individual is not a lawful combatant, the "detaining power" may choose to accord the individual the rights and privileges of a prisoner of war as described in the Third Geneva Convention, but is not required to do so.An individual who is not a lawful combatant, who is not a national of a neutral state, and who is not a national of a co-belligerent state, retains rights and privileges under the Fourth Geneva Convention and must be "treated with humanity and, in case of trial, shall not be deprived of the rights of fair and regular trial".[5]"

There were 750,000 women and 36 million men, who served in the Soviet military during WW2. That means that 2.5% of the Soviet military were females. 99.5% of these females served as medical personnel, clerks, and in logistics units. They were praised by the communist propaganda machine, which promoted radical feminism. A little known fact, however, is that many Russian military men despised them. Some of my relatives fought against, and were killed by the German Nazis. A few survived and told me war stories that were not very laudatory about "Stalin's Amazons." It was not uncommon for ordinary Russian women (who did not serve in the military) to express openly their contempt for the communist amazons after the war, calling them "field whores" or "lesbians." Almost all of the officers at or above the rank of major had at their disposal one or more (even veritable harems) of Stalin's amazons.
