The absolute truth of these muscle cars like we had in Australia,is their longevity, they are vehicles that people absolutely love, and love of high performance vehicles is a relationship that goes on forever, even restored like this vehicle is a gem, beautifully restored, and I bet a pleasure to drive, shmick and glorious detail, well done.
When I was 18, now I'm 60, I had a '70 SS 396 (402), Gray, with a black vynal top, with power windows, factory air and console, all the options. I kept it for years, kicked myself for ever selling it. I wanted a firebird, haha. I've never seen another one like it.
I am 56 and had a 72 SS 454 4 speed. Dark Brown with White Vinyl top and white interior. I got heavily into street racing and sold it to build a V8 Vega. Wish I still had that Chevelle.
She's a absolute beauty ! All it needs is a 454ci engine and then she would be perfect , although the 396ci is a great big block engine in it's own right.
L-34' s ,350 H.P.5500 red line Tach is Correct,Only The L-78 Had the Higher RPM Tach,375 H.P.that Tach is Correct,as That's A 350 h.p. L-34.& A/ C Was An Option on the 350 h.p. L-78 375 396 & LS-6 450 h.p.,A/ C Was not An Option.A nother Reason this One Sold Fast,Besides the Most Desired Fathom Blue Paint,Was The White Interior,White Stripe 4 SPD's Were & Still Are Hard to Find.Was a Beautiful Example & Another Dealer Close by to Jeff,Believe Has the Same Optioned Car, but With Black Interior & Headers & Alum.Intake,Which Sounds As Bad As A L-78 396,Might Be Little Stronger Than the L-78,According to Idle & Exhaust.& it Does Have A/ C
what are the things on the hood that almost look like they're holding it down in the chains. I see it a lot on cars from down south but not many from here in Maine where i live
Ryan Whittier they're hood clips, they pretty much make sure the hood doesn't flip up or fly off when you're driving really fast but I like them because I think they make the car look good lol
Hood Pins ,Good. For Safety Against Hood Flying Up @ High Spds.,If U didn't t Close Hood Good & Also Believe U Can Get A Sm.Padlock on Them , to Prevent Someone From Popping Hood in Unprotected Storage to Either Steal Ur Carb.or Engine,If I Recall 70' s Did Not Have Hood Release Inside Car? But Useless if Someone Had Crowbar ,As Padlock Was So Small.
That is NOT A Super Soort steering wheel. They were all black with SS insignia in middle. This is Not a true SS car, If it dont have an SS steering wheel, that's part of the SS package. I owned 4 of them over 30 years. Other than that, nice car but a true SS, unless they removed the wheel.
