In Minnesota we have Lake Sturgeon that we catch on the rainy river and lake of the woods, our sturgeon taste more like tuna then halibut. but then Lake sturgeon are completely fresh water and spend no time ever in an ocean
Ive caught bigger Sturgeon on worms and 6 pound test, and a float reel. Took over 45 minutes to land. The water was only 6-8 feet deep. Believe it or not!!!

@POCFISHING465 More importantly, why wouldn't you fish with a guide if you had the resources, time, and connections? Especially in areas you don't know, it allows you to get on the fish quicker and learn more to make your next trip more enjoyable.

you know I could have sworn that it is illegal to even keep one let alone take it out of the water and pull it on the boat but some one tell me if im wrong ...
travis gray It is legal to keep a few only of a certain size, and during a certain time of year. But in places such as the snake river, and etc.. it is all illegal. Still I think it should be illegal everywhere.
***** I only thought it was because I have a friend from Idaho that I helped out get started on salt water fishing for reds and specs and when I asked him about this he told me that it was illegal to take them out of the water let alone keep them pretty sure things are different in other states but I kind of figured that keeping them was a dead no anywhere.. but thanks for the information and I see what you mean about it should be illegal but I don't completely agree I think it should be more like how it is in main with moose hunting where you pretty much put your name in a drawing and the winner gets the chance to hunt and harvest a moose.
