The save/load states and the rewind features are definitely great quality of life improvements, I am definitely getting this game, so happy I can play it now on modern consoles.
Thanks for showing the Rewind, Graphic, and Zoom options in the video. Nice touch to the review
sometimes we forget :(
REMAKE SILMERIA PLEASE!
whos that😂
@@qwerty6789x Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria for the PS2.

This guy doesn’t make the games, you know that, right?
Thats what I've been wanting for years
One of my fave battle systems of all time
yea, I've seen others try to copy it, but it's never as satisfying.
To this day, still my favorite JRPG of all time. I payed like $250 for an original PS1 copy and I don't even regret it. It's that good.
why wouold you pay that much lmfaoo
@@dukenukem7043 sadly, that is pretty normal for a lot of PS1 RPGs these days for would-be collectors.
@@radicaldreamersteve5743 You can just emulate lol
@@MJ-oi6ul Yes, you can, but some people do want the original hardware or a legal version. You can now play this on PS5 as well.
I bought mine from Funcoland when it came out. Still in great condition but I emulate now to avoid wear and tear.
I most definitely recommend a guide if you want to achieve the best ending, known as Ending A. There are very specific conditions and circumstances that need to be accomplished, and the game does very little to inform you. It is almost impossible to accidentally get this ending.
I beat this back on psp. Never knew how to get the best ending. Thinking of diving back into this
It shall be engraved upon your soul! Divine Assault... Nibelung Valesti!
So good!
Iconic
When u play a Valkyrie game . Expect to hear this amazing iconic line
I miss it
"Mugen no tenshin, blade art!"
A good review by someone who has actually played the game, thank you. I also appreciate this guy isn't shouting loudly at us nor making any forced unfunny jokes, I wish more youtubers were composed like this.
As opposed to all the reviews by people who never played the games? What an idiot. As for his lack of shouting and lack of unfunny jokes, it's probably because he's too depressed to speak above a whisper or attempt a joke.
This to me is the pinnacle of ps1 jrpg's, I love this game on each replay I do of it and it's a shame the sequel decided to change the combat system.
i love the battle system in this one but i personally enjoyed the revamping the sequel did, it felt new and refreshing yet still felt similar to the first one. i do wish we had more games with the lenneth battle system tho!
@@myaaurora The sequel's combat was what actually made me stop playing it, I really didn't like the transition from full turn based into this FF XII kind of approach, and it felt like it really squandered the uniqueness of the original system.
@@myaaurora Try out Indivisible and Exist archive :)
Actual unfiltered masterpiece of a game
The art kind of weirds me out, but the sprites look good.
@@aliasmcdoe You're entitled to your opinion, but personally I don't think the art looks that great. It gives me mid-2000s Falcom vibes back when their art was really cheap looking. My kind of art is SaGa, Final Fantasy Tactics, Fire Emblem Shadows of Valentia, Bravely Default, Octopath Traveler, Persona, etc. This just looks like someone trying to copy European styles while not being very talented.
I will say, though, if your name is a reference to Duck King from Fatal Fury then that's awesome.
Good grief, you people call everything a masterpiece. Newsflash: your toys ain’t masterpieces.
@@Jordan3DS What does cheap-looking mean? Anything that is not 3D ?
@@but_iWantedTo_speakGerman So video games can't have artistic or emotional significance? Your views are outdated and illogical.
Would have loved for this to get a Switch release! And a physical release for that matter. I guess I will just have to grab this on PS5.
I've been playing the PSP version of this game for a while now. I'm right near the end, in Asgard Hill. It's been a frustrating journey at times, but I've had a lot of fun. It's one of the most unique JRPGs i've played. The combo system is great!
I would give this game a 10, but I always found the time limit (as generous as it is) not enough to enjoy all the characters you can add to your party. Still, it's a PSP classic and I still have my original copy. Beautiful game. amazing music, extremely underrated gem of the RPG genre.
Well it's not underrated its a 11/10 for me, but its very old now (from the PS1 were the used anime as cutscenes instead of 3D) so not many people know about it.
One of the best games i ever played. Takes me back in time, so many good memories.
Best memories, the music breaks my soul
If Valkyrie Profile 2:Silmeria is rereleased it will be an instant buy for me. Maybe I'm biased but its one of my top 5 JRPG games of all time.
Same here. Loved that game almost like no other. Ffx and chrono cross also sit high on my list but I have those remasters. I wanted vp silmeria for year but lenneth has been remade, like 4 times already tho lol
The rewind feature help me with farming boss/mobs drop so much easier
I just think it is a huge shame they didn't remaster this game, just ported the PSP version. Still, the game aged like fine wine and still look pretty darn good.
This game is entertaining even today. It has aged well. I had bought it day 1 for the PS4 and platinumed it within the span of 2 weeks. It was my first psp rpg game as well. I love this game to bits. My team that defeated the Iseria queen was Lenneth, Lucien, Brahms and Jelanda.
Bring it to the Switch! I'd love to play this again on a modern handheld.
One of the best JRPG ever made. The music, the voice acting, the graphics, the story ❤
The moment I saw this was available on PS Store I bought it right away. I've replayed it so many times and I just wantto finish Hollow Knight so I can replay VP again!
It's in my top 3 of PS era JRPGs. For newcomers, play in hard mode. You get better gear and more recruits, so it actually becomes easier in the endgame compared to the hamstrung easy or normal mode.
Is this more or less a 1-for-1 port of Lenneth for the PSP, which is based on the inferior Japanese version? Or did SE add the QOL improvements from the international version with this release? Things like sorting items, using L/R to switch characters in the menu, changing inactive members' equipment, Lenneth's skills being removed when changing equipment, etc? Not that big of a deal because the core game is unchanged. But it would be a welcome addition if SE implemented those improvements as well.
I totally disagree with this.
Hard mode can become easier only IF you know what you are doing (which means NOT newcomers), unless you advise them to also seek for a guide (which for a first experience shouldn't be used, as getting ending B is part of that first experience, too).
Also, Hard Mode is Hard not because the random mobs are harder, but mostly because of the annoyance of the exclusive Hard mode dungeons (and actually, the hard mode bosses can be very unforgiving if you are not correctly prepared).
Again, unless you use a guide is very unlikely you will get the especial equipment you mention, because you need to use the not so obvious transmutation system, a special item to get better gear, or even find the correct materials which are very hidden (including the Seraphic Gate stones), or finding the well hidden hard mode weapons/armor.
Also, all your characters start level 1, great for the experienced because we know how to build our characters to abuse the level 1 start, but for a newcomer can become overwhelming IF they don't know the system or what they are doing.
And finally, unless you are playing in easy, Hard mode will only offer one more recruit than in Normal, and that's the end of it.
Normal is...well that, Normal, it lets you go on a normal pace in your first experience, to learn the system, and to travel through "normal "difficulty" dungeons, especially because is very likely you will even get ending B during your first play.
Then you can jump to hard mode with a guide for ending A, correcting all the mistakes you probably made in your character build, same guide that will advise you in which Characters to focus to send to Valhalla, and that will tell you how to get all the awesome powerful equipment, and thus, make the game easier than in Normal.
EDIT: Also, playing in Hard, you will miss the Black Dream Tower and it's awesome soundtrack.
Glad it has those sharp pixels, it looks pretty good.
Hoping that they also release Valkyrie Profile 2 in the PS4/PS5 or Switch. I also miss playing that game...
I absolutly love this game!!! I play this game at least once a year. And i hope with this version theres a trophy list for PS4/PS5. That being said, i dont understand why did they use the PSP version when there is a very great high quality HD version on the Apple store and Google play store. I have the Android version. Now ill say this... The platforming on the cell phone is a pain. But i got thru the entire game on my phone and its easly beatable. If you can just check it out and see the resolution, its an amazing visual upgrade. On an OLED screen, its top tier. They really should have used the phone version, which is weird to say, but i love this game and i feel it would have been a better option. But yea great game.
A physical edition would be so sweet 😊😊😊
Tell limited run lol!
I have wanted to play Valkyrie Profile since I was a kid!
Game is amazing. It's crazy how much better the A ending is, and how hard it is to get if you don't have a guide.
Ya, the devs definitely made a stupid choice when making the ending so hard to get. In an interview they said they did that on purpose, for reasons I cannot fathom.
@@skins4thewin To sell strategy guides
@@alanevans6482 Lol
And please for the love of Odin, the “J” in Einherjar is silent! You literally hear Lenneth say it in game!
This needs to come to the switch.
I really hope they they release Silmeria on PS4-PS5 soon as well.
How am i just finding out this got a digital release on plaustation in september. I bought Valkyrie Elysium on release an never heard a peep about this, im gonna download it right now.
It was supposed to release in September, but got pushed back. December 21 now.
@@adrianjenkins5877 oh i see, i was about to go on the PS store and try to download it, i guess i will have to wait a few days
What I love about this game is, some bosses are extremely hard if you dont know what to do lol but if you know the proper gear and their weakness, its easy as cake. You can even 1 shot Fenrir.
Sounds awful
the day we explore RPG games without an online walkthrough or guide even discussing with friends is such a memorable moment...... and frustrating too...
I feel like I should be playing this right before my Saturday morning cartoons start (Digimon of course)
haha, I'm glad you said Digimon :) I think Yu Gi Oh came on after lol
It should be after pokemon, because if my memory is correct, its the same voice actors from 4kids
thanks! i remember playing this game when it was release of ps1..what a childhood memories.
Loves valkyrie games love valkyrie profile 2 on ps2, masterpiece
Agreed
2 is ok. It doesn't have the character quality or overall charm that 1 has.
@@FredHerbert999 . True, also, while I liked the gameplay and the ost, I hated what they did with the story.
I'd still kill for a remaster of it, or even just an emulated version of it for the PS4/5 with widescreen and upscaled resolution.
I have it for PS2 still and it's a blurry low framerate mess, and doesn't emulate well at all. The UI is ugly as well, making things hard to read. And after using the ds4 and DualSense, I can't stand the DS2.
I had no idea it was out yet, sweet! I'll get stuck into this on the morro, despite what people said about Elysium I enjoyed it, won't be everyone's jar of peanuts but I definitely enjoyed it, I got lenneth as a pre order bonus, and I heaps miss games of this ilk, great review take care till the next one
same hre, pretty sure it's coming out on the 22nd
A physical release on the Nintendo Switch would be amazing.
Now if only we can get Silmeria. Haven't been able to play that since my PS2 finally burned out.
If this goes well i hope VP: Silmeria also gets some attention to get remastered.
This is one of my favorite games of all time & has what is my absolute favorite video game music soundtrack of all time. The story, battle mechanics & music are absolutely amazing! It's a travesty what they did w Elysium... That is NOT what Valkyrie Profile is supposed to be! I have no clue why they thought taking it in that direction was a good idea. So so dumb...
It’s gonna be such a blast playing this classic masterpiece on my PS5 come December 22nd. 🔥
Stay salty, Nintendrones.
Insanely good game with the most badass rpg characters in existence. Belenus, Gray and Suo are ****ing awesome! Reap the judgement of the gods… Extreme Void!
Would love this on the switch, i have psp version still, i’ll stick with that.
They've added Trophy support like some of the PlayStation classics titles?
Much better that this thing called "Esylium".
I enjoyed it on my psp and hope to enjoy on current gen.
thank you for the video! man the voice acting in this game was phenomenal
Lol I assume that is sarcasm, as the voice acting is pretty bad.
@@skins4thewin Lenneth's VA is great.
@@FeiTheVillain It's ok. Whoever does the one of her as a child is pretty awful. It's kind of par for the course for back then tho. It's not god awful but it definitely ain't good.
Actually didn't realise this was coming out, lol. Thanks!
Too lazy to emulate it, so probably a much more easy way to play providing the port is decent
I'm ready to play this for the first time. 💜
A classic game was hard AF but my favorite in the franchise
I have to say, the font is actually befitting the pixel style approach of this game(I mean...look at Pixel Remaster of FF series). Plus ..the sprite is also beautiful compared to the android version...
My all time favorite game!
I got this a couple years ago on my android... and it's great. Very similar to the psp version and emulator version. If I'm being honest, it does not look like they did too much to the game. Not enough for me to purchase it yet again...
Lol I like how almost every modern reviewer is finding it hard to pronounce "Einherjar", "ayn · heh · ree · aar".
I still say einhärjar
Kind of strange since it's said in the game so often. Perhaps the reviewers are just rushing through the game, because they don't have much time and as a result, they're not able to pay full attention to details like that.
To be honest, I play this game since I was a child and never paid attention to it.
It's IGNorance. How are you shocked? Those liberals get paid more than us for being IGNorant.
One of my top 3 favorite ps1 game of all time, still have the physical copy in my collection worth a good amount now. Sad that they don't have jpn voice and eng sub option. I had to play the import version back then. Still remember my arch nemesis of hamster hamster.
I can't wait for the 22nd
I love valkurys and ein her jars.
excellent remaster, does this game have trophy support
Yes it has
Players coming back to gamefaqs for guides guaranteed. True ending of this game is somewhat impossible without a guide
You can probably remap buttons in the ps5/ps4 settings if you need to.
Been playing Elysium and been enjoying it so definitely gonna check this one out too love getting into a new JRPG series
More of the world needs to get on board with this game. It’s earned a better legacy than what it got with Elysium.
Elysium is the better game in the gameplay, though. past VP games are a slog to play whereas Elysium actually has replay value cause it isn't some tedious slow paced playthrough. VP1 combat is many times more repetitive and its platforming gets really annoying later. Its storytelling is outstanding but as a game, there's little to no incentive to play it after the A route, meanwhile Elysium is gorgeous and the combat stays interesting and flows naturally whereas turn based really is outdated nonsense. the one thing that should have carried over is VP1's free flying overworld. better than a menu driven map. story and overworld map gameplay are really the only things that places VP1 above Elysium.
@@fivefive9514 I strongly disagree that Elysium is a good game even worthy of being compared to its predecessors. It's just another by the numbers square action rpg with weak story and a bland world design. They couldn't even be bothered to sync the voices with the animation.
@@MrArrow54 at least the characters have faces instead of moeblob pixels with portraits that don't even move their mouth. VP1 world is like a popup book compared to Elysium 3D world locations.
@@fivefive9514 lmao u can't seriously expect them to have the same level of graphics it's a bloody ps1 game. However it's such a good game it can be ported over and enjoyed years later with no polish needed. Do u think anyone will think about Elysium in 10 years? No because it's nothing special.
@@fivefive9514 heavily disagree. Elysium was all in all pretty dry
Best RPG ive ever Played on PS1 ERA
Great game, only gripe is I wish the 2d character models had a few more pixels. I really like the pixel changes say in the FF1,2 and 4 on psp. (Controversial to pureist, but i like big sprite upgrades)
I have only one question, is it digital only or does it have a physical version?
what are the weapons that feature dual sense adaptive trigger on ps5 version? also what are the maximum resolutions for both ps4 and ps5 versions?
Please make a video about Brigandine: Legend of Forsena.
I remember this playing on my Ps2..
Sorry i can buy it stand alone or it is only with the digital deluxe edition of valkyrie elysium (i have the pysichal copy)?
You can purchase it separately
"Such is your fate!"
Can we all please beg limited run to do a physical release? Pretty please?
Hey Noisy, have you ever played Crimson Gem Saga? An absolutely phenomenal turn based game…
On the PSP? Yea, I own it - Azario
@@NoisyPixelNews Nice! Yes psp. That game was fantastic if you ask me 🙂
this game is a classic I be buying right after watching this vid did not know u can get it on PS4/PS5
Also here to plug if you guys liked/love this go play Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky. It doesn't have the story Valkyrie Profile does but it does scratch that combat itch.
Lol Exist Archive
It sucks though
There's also Indivisible by the developers of Skullgirls. It's okay, something to get very cheap because the story and characters are awful and the game is a bit janky.
But clearly inspired by VP and I did enjoy it enough to recommend fans to play it if they see it at 10 dollars or below.
The voice acting is excellent. Not sure what you mean there.
I played this game on PS1 as a kid and remember being so confused why I kept getting told to try harder.. it was too late when I realized I was supposed to be sending warriors to Asgard.. :p
I'm hoping Covenant of the Plume makes it way back at some point. Was from the age of Edgy Hero's but was a fairly good game.
One of my all-time favorite games, and still haven't obtained the A ending lol
Wait, does this exist on the PS5? When was it released or is this just a streaming game?
“Ten thousands deaths are not enough for you!” The best waifu of the game, the little spoiled princess ❤
Jelanda 😊❤
This is a freaking emulation done in the PS+ Premium PS1/PSP wrapper/overlay that they have the audacity to charge $20 and stingily exclude from the PS+ Premium list. If we were in the PS3 days, an emulated PS1 game would be $10. I feel like Square Enix misled us all into thinking this would be an actual port and not just a rom dump of the PSP version with no additional work put in. And because this is just a PSP emulation done under Sony's wrapper, there is little to no chance of any other platforms getting the game
Now the the very 1st dark soul game vigrant story a game that was so freaking way ahead of it's time even the maze in the forest was epic if u dont know what u are doing u will never pass that forest of the fog maze. 🤣 I love that game finish it in one week. None stop playing when I was in high school 😁
Hell yeah. Vagrant Story was awesome.
hmmm, so nothing new. I have it on the PSP. I am glad new players will get to enjoy this GOAT rpg.
Is this available on the psn? I know the 1st wild arms showed up on it randomly
Dec 22!
Ok, I came from Elysium and expect a game similar to that. :D
I was hoping that Square would of surprised us with a much more "cleaner' version than just emulating the PSP version since it was delayed 3 months. But sometimes Square just does things .. just because and not always for the better.
why isn't this on steam...
This game is much better than Valkyrie Elysium imo. The worst part is being unable to get the best ending unless you use a guide. I wish they made another game like this instead of Elysium
Underrated games idk have superb/complex battle system, like VP,SaGa etc more enjoyable n fun for me
Great review btw
I wish they had updated the graphics a little more, since we are dealing with a very high def system. Makes me feel like I am just buying the same game 3 times. One of my favorite JRPGs otherwise.
Is there any hope that this game will see a Steam release?
I still say Lightning Returns is Valkyrie Profile 3.
As for VP1... no one knew what the Seal Stat meant... and how important it ended up becoming.
Older VP games? Umm... they're only 2. This PS1/PSP versions and Silmeria... a PS2 game.
And a few cameo games... like "Star Ocean 3" and "Radianta Stories"....
(I still thing SO3 and VP2 are connected).
I have a question: there is the japanese dub in options in this remastered?
Fortunately, no.
Is this a physical release or digital only?
digital only for now
why they did not use the cleam UI and interface from the mobile version?
Because it's a port from the PSP version.
Squeenix with the usual low-effort remasters.
What’s the price and is there a physical copy?
Probably $/€19.99. No physical copy as of now.
Yea i'm keeping my eye on playasia
If the price is equivalent to the announced Japanese price, then about $20 US.
My only grip at the moment, is being unable to sort my inventory.
