the man improvises the solo of planet caravan, and says "whatever it was" That guy makes these beutifull solos like it's nothing... I hope he beats the cancer as well as he nailed the solo
Obi-Wan Kannabis As he said in an interview "to make good music it has to come from the heart". He is one of my greatest inspirations to want to learn guitar.
a true legend, a phrase that is criminally overused these days, but where tony is concerned it really is justified. only he could turn an accident with a sheet metal cutter into a style which turned out to be one of the greatest in history. without a shadow of a doubt one of the gretest guitarists EVER!!!!
This man is a international treasure. Chops fingers off the day before forming Sabbath, melts plastic bottles for finger tips prosthesis...what else can I say other than, he wrote the most badass metal riffs of all time.
WhatSideOfTheBed DidYouWakeUpOn thats not what i meant. I exceed tony myself in terms of technical skill, but thats doesnt determine how good a guitarist you are overall. Eddie van halen is infinitely better than tony iommi technically but tony is still the better musician overall according to most people
Tony is such a great guitarist. Yeah he is the creator and master of the metal riff but the acoustic side of him gets overlooked at times. There are some songs of Sabbath where you have 3/4 of the song having such power doom and destruction then near the end it effortlessly glides into a peacfull acoustic side. Gives you that feeling like you just survived an f5 tornado that lasted for hours then the sky opens up to a clear tranquil peaceful setting. Iommi can really take you on an emotional rollercoster ride.
It’s just occurred to me that a lot of the tabs I’ve seen for this song are wrong, and why I love/hate tabs. They’re a good guideline, but probably wrong. You really gotta have a more trained ear to hear how it’s actually played. The best teacher is always the master. And here it is!!
Watched this docu the other night on BBC4, excellent stuff. Didn't realise it was a brand new Classic Albums. Take it there is extra material on the dvd release like Purple's Machine Head one?
@ColtraneTaylor I disagree: orchid, laguna sunrise, fluff, she's gone, scarlet pimpernel, spiral architect, sleeping village, bible black, rock n roll angel, heaven and hell, lonely is the word...
@gonzo5648 He had made several mentions in interviews that had HAD to string using light electric gauges due to his injury. Listen to the tone of She's Gone and there ya go! Still one of THE most important guitar players EVER!
Just buy Black Sabbath's "Paranoid". The third track is "Planet Caravan". The first two tracks are "War Pigs" and "Paranoid". The fourth track is "Iron Man".
Planet Caravan is so good. A part of me wishes Black Sabbath had of made an entire album like Planet Caravan.
I have an playlist if all instrumental songs from them. But a whole themed album from the 70s would be awsome
Planet Caravan + Solitude + Zeitgeist
Plamet !!!!!
Get it rigth for fcuk sakes
@@cicero.0209 ..+ laguna sunrise+ orchid..
They said they liked it cos it was good to get stoned too 😂😂

He did :)

Influential maybe. Definitely not the greatest in terms of skill.
@@bradhargis2261 Still the greatest though.

So humble for his immense talent. Anyone else would be a knob about it.
He's a natural jazzer, he was inspired by django rienhardt 's music after his accident.
What a beautiful sound he gets!
This is one of my favorite Black Sabbath songs... I can't get enough of it!!!
Zeitgeist on 13 has the same vibe as Planet Caravan, I like it a lot
Oh man, he's a great guitar player. Hope one day I become good as him
Calebe Priester dude has his own style, you have to find yours too. And of course, practice
No offence but he’s widely regarded as being the single best metal guitarist ever and one of the best overall, so I think that’s a tad ambitious...

@@eriksrensen9869 people throw around the term technique without understanding it
Tony's playing some kick ass jazz guitar licks and all of a sudden: ''Whatever it was'' lmao one of the greatest of all time.
One of my favorite songs by the master..
a trully master for all of us !! mighty father of the heavy rock n roll !!!
Bravisimo TONY !!!
Mestre tocando parece ser tão simples, muitos anos de pista, respeito máximo pelo sr. TONY IOMMI 😃😎😚
What a bad ass song that is, and completely underrated.
WE SAIIIIILED
I love that Iommi can play so heavy, yet play something so gentle and melodic.
Best song ever
It's awesome seeing Iommi play an acoustic guitar. Planet Caravan is one of my top favorite Ozzy-era tracks.
Such a good song
Yeah he's the living definition of the phrase "never give up"
Eu poderia escutar isso o dia inteiro 💕
I wish Tony had done more songs like this one.
Lord of riffs
one of the best songs
I have already heard this song 1000 times. Just came here to see master demonstrating it himself \m/
If only more people uploaded ACTUAL 1080p videos like you
My favorite Sabbath song
I saw em live in march 2013, Toni was amazing as always
Iommi. The master of reality

master of metal!!!
GENIUS,STONE GENIUS
The best line was "whatever it was". So typical Iommi; so legendary. XD
beautiful guitar playing and actual guitar.
@JASTERI1 It's a Taylor T5. They come from the factory with electric strings on them. They can be strung with acoustics however.
leave it to Lommi to get 270k views and 800+ likes just playing 30 secs
Joshua Cruz *Iommi. It's a capital "i"
Happy birthday Paranoid! 40 years!
Excellent! ...
You are the man, bro. cheers
So relaxing :)
Still My Hero & the King of the Heavy Riffage!!
Tony is a strong man. He will fucking smash it.
I bow before my master.
glad to hear hes doing better hope everything goes fine
That is a great sounding acoustic....and drastically outside of my price range.
MY MASTER
His phrasing is fucking awesome

dimebag did a great cover of this
trever pitts he sure did, my favorite song by either band!
Are them the extra slinky's 38-8 hes using on the acoustic
Its the same chords as "Sleeping Village" , excellent none the less.
Monsteeeer
As everything McCartney whistles is a good melody, everything this man runs around strings and scales in a guitar is a good riff.
my hero :) on guitar!
Does anyone have a link to a video or torrent where Eddie Van Halen is interviewed about Black Sabbath?
@AdariUK Thank you!
@JASTERI1 Yes but we never hear the acoustic in Sabbath much anyway.
I agree, I've been searching for such tabs since genesis and I can't find them
I'll check it out!
Very much so.
Thats a sweet acoustic. Only Toni could pull it off!
@InfiniteWhizBang he makes them himself, he explains in his book and in an interview
blues and jazz... blend it and let's Tony iommi do the rest.
Iommi rules lml
What guitar model he playing in this video??
Can someone give tabs for solo in this video?
I need bands to sound like Planet Caravan
Good Song For Space Travelling
can anybody tell the exact guitar he's using
was the fkn best
@InfiniteWhizBang He makes his own.
Does anyone know what guitar this is?
He had cancer earlier this year. From what I read he's doing well now.
There are a few videos of Iommi interviewed in front of this massive effect rack. Where are these coming from? I want to watch the whole thing!

@Treyisonfire697 open E string first then A7 D5 open G open B upsroke...
Tony Iommi is great...I'd rather.listen to his giitar work than anybod else.
@Treyisonfire697 my friend i will get u those tabs that he is playing
@Treyisonfire697 Use your ears and eyes. The man who wrote it is sitting right there playing it for you.

I love african american sabbath
I always thought Pantera did this song originally..Didnt know Sabbath did it first
oh my god..
Damn.
Go to the store and buy all the Sabbath albums with Ozzy and Dio ..NOW!
Just buy Black Sabbath's "Paranoid". The third track is "Planet Caravan". The first two tracks are "War Pigs" and "Paranoid". The fourth track is "Iron Man".
I found part of the opening riff on guitar by accident one time, but can't find the rest...really annoying.
his tuning is different to standard
