honestly, I feel like there is too much bling on the fingerboard. A standard D28, D35, 00028 or a D18, will look beautiful in the way that they are plain and understated, but sound awesome!
Yeah, I’m torn. The 42 look or some of the Taylor’s cross the bling line for me. This is slightly more subtle? Hell, maybe I’m kidding myself as the J200, Hummingbird, Dove look doesn’t seem to scare me away (although I only own a simple J45 and HD-35).

That’s funny, Sean. I do love the look of Martin’s standard line in Natural finish. My HD-35 is like 5 now and the Sitka has a really nice gold hue. As it has adjusted to its role as an instrument, vs a tree, its tone has opened up. Yours? And, FWIW, on certain songs a J-45 just sounds right. Still, my next acoustic will be a fingerstyle queen as that’s 80% what I play.
Sounds great! I will always pay for great tone! But, I guess I am reluctant to pay for things that don’t improve tone… (that being said, I did pay $75 for the tobacco burst finish on the RainSong Jumbo I bought from Paul. But that is probably my “bling” $ limit).
Quentin, it really shows you loved that one! As you always say, you’re a Martin guy. And they do suit you always!

With the balance of tone delivered (backwards shifted) I really wanted to hear some fingerstyle. Not even a thumbpick. How does it sound compared to a sinker hog or adi/rosewood 0000? I realize pickin’ is where you make your living so I get it. And, it’s great pickin’. This beauty’s subtleties may shine au natural?

I just built this guitar, on Martin's website, about 6 months ago. I had a different headstock and I did not specify the bracing. Awesome guitar! Awesome channel!

Stunning to look at, beautiful tone. Lots of bling makes it look like it needs to be in a museum. So, could the same guitar be ordered without the bling; and would it sound as good?
