  • In this video I'll show you an easy way to remove rust from a cast iron surface such as a table saw or jointing plane. We will also test out a spray on rust preventative, and see how it performs.

    Interesting. I'll be fascinated to see how this goes. I'm in WA as well (in the south west), but I haven't really had a problem with paste wax. (I use a microfine wax designed for metals.) It does rub off though, and for my planer and jointer beds I have been using silbergelit, which rubs off quickly but is very effective as a lubricant though not quite so sure about how well it's preventing rust. Seems okay but we always look for the ideal solution.

    Hi Darren now winter is done in WA how has the coating held up?

      Hi Andrew, It was Ok, but not great. I found I needed to wipe it off before using the saw, and then coat it again at the end of the day. As a result, I got a tiny bit of rust. The g15 is great for storage, but not for regularly used surfaces. If you are looking for something more reliable, check out Carbon Coat ruclips.net/video/gV9JSsuJm6I/видео.html. I have had great results with that.
