How to improve your linear rail blocks in 4 steps

In this video I`m going to show you how to lubricate new linear rails.
1 disassemble
2 clean the parts with degreaser
3 assemble
4 apply white lithium grease
There is a huge difference between before and after this action.

The best improvement is not to buy cheap rails. Either buy good ones, an IGUS rail or for 3D printers a round rail is actually the better solution because its a hell of a lot faster than a flat rail. Flat rails are designed for extreme loads , round rails less so but their issue is the footprint required to mount them. In myopinion spend more time fine tuning your eccentric nut because unless you are looking for .01 accuracy it is not worth spending the money. I'm a retired Chartered Engineer and can speak with some experience

I just finished mine, but did not remove the balls, I cleaned them by soaking in IPA and de greaser and then lubing with Super Lube-21030 Synthetic Multi-Purpose Grease. I think that is a lot safer as no balls are removed on purpose, I few did come out of the retaining clip, but were easy to reinsert. I also did everything in a magnetic parts basket.

I think maybe 33 but I'm not sure... anyway you will see when you assembly it, you should have a gap on each side for one more ball...

Depending on how frequently this would need to be done, I might just rather buy new blocks as needed. There are plenty of other things I'd rather be doing than this.

Is recommended to do this after you buy a new block. The point is to wash it from the anti-corrosion stuff.
