  • I purchased this rack 8 months ago and this is what I've learned. Great rack, good quality, and hits all of my expectations. The rack has a heavier load capacity than most regular bike racks. It also folds into a VERY compact unit. Here is the Amazon link: linktw.in/iBYZbR
    All Accessory Links are below:
    I get a lot of requests for Amazon links, etc. I have them all organized here by topic, along with more in-depth information here: www.evolutiona...

    Thank you for your video. It had all the info I needed. What you shared with us that other videos for this bike rack didn’t show is the movement of everything after all was tightened. I didn’t know if that was normal. You showed that this is normal. THANK YOU so much for showing that as I had all tightened the way it should but have two 60 LB e- bikes on my rack, is a lot of weight. As you showed us the movement is normal. 🙌🙌 GREAT VIDEO 👍👍👍

    This rack euthanized my $10k e-bike because the tilt feature failed. Buy at your own risk.

      @berniecolin7 3 месяца назад

      What happened? I am thinking of buying this rack

    • @freedom3594
      @freedom3594 3 месяца назад +1

      @@berniecolin7 , the tilt feature is very suspect. The rack is supposed to tilt so you can open your tailgate. When you tilt the rack back up it “locks” in two different positions when it should just be one. The first position ensures that if you accelerate your vehicle l, your bikes will return to the tilt position and fall off the rack as you merge onto the highway. The second position is actually locked and secures the bikes. It’s VERY difficult to tell the difference until your bike(s) are dragging along the asphalt behind you. This rack should be redesigned so it only has two obvious positions. Tilted or locked. It’s the in between position that kills bikes and is a danger for all on the road.

    Owner about a year. Very pleased with rack. Two ebikes @ 54 lbs. each. The tight hitch is excellent. There are spacer arms that come across the top and have unlimited mounting options to each frame. Bikes sit still. Use the ramp alone, but loading works better with another person to check for contact points. ***** Five Star. My bikes are 2.5" tire width on Blix Aveny Model.

    Great video and review of the Thule EasyFold bike rack. It's not my favorite bike rack but has several great quality such as it's weight, ease of handling and compactness. We (Kody Technologies) make a bike rack light with tail, turn and brake signals for the EasyFold (and many others) and wanted to share. The lights keep you safe on the road. I've used a wide variety of bike racks since we're in the business of bike racks and you did a great job of summarizing this one. Thanks!

    Does the lock mechanism on the receiver portion of the rack get gummed up? Seems that a simple lock like this, located so close to the pavement, will be subject to getting fouled up by road salt, dirt, etc. and will soon cease to function. When you tighten down the knob all the way, is that sufficient to keep the rack solidly attached to the receiver without locking it?

The did not come with the longer tie down straps, for the fat tires, so thats about another $100 for 4 straps for the two bikes..drove to Calgary to pick it up. They wanted $300 to ship. Sadly did not look on Amazon only at Thule dealers.

      They are heavy, Gloria, but I think a ramp is the easiest way to go. My rack sits up high because of the vehicle. It has a fairly steep ramp approach. I don't think a lower vehicle would have that issue, therefore making the angle easier on the pushing up of the bike. -Tom

    I load three bikes (one of them is an e-mtb) on the roof at the moment and I’m considering this kind of rack. But I cannot decide: I actually think either kind of rack is not really safe (watch how much this one wobbles just by touching it)

    • @tjmahon325
      @tjmahon325 2 года назад

      Best rack for E Bikes that I have found. It wobbles because the back of the car is wobbling not the hitch or rack. Plus our Pedego bikes are 50lbs and my wife can not lift them on the rack without the ramp that comes with this rack. Works really well. Took a 1500 mile trip to Wisconsin with 2 Pedego's and had no issues. One issue I found is with a cover on it will block your tail lights and license plate which is not a good idea when driving after dark.

    Hi Tom, I have a similar set up as you and was curious about the weight for the rack. I have the RCS and its heavy as you know, the rack states it recommends a max of 65lbs each bike. Have you had any issues with your two bikes on your Thule? Does it feel secure?

    • @evolutionaryTom
      @evolutionaryTom  2 года назад +3

      Hello, Mike. I've had zero issues and it does feel secure. I have no hesitation on long trips. Our second bike on the rack is a Rad Mini. I take the battery off when it's on the rack. I also take off the bags unless were going somewhere fairly close by. I used to have a 300 plus pound enduro motorcycle on a trailer hitch rack that I'd tote around. Getting used to that took a long time before I wasn't driving with white knuckles. I think it's the same for this rack and E-Bikes. Every trip you have with no issues will make you that much more comfortable. BUT, I will say this. Slow and steady on the loading of the bikes is important. I don't think the system is overbuilt. So I make sure the tilt mechanism is in the secure position, that the bar clamps are as tight as I can get them, that the receiver lock pin is in place. I check all of that a few times before I take off. I've heard of people finding out their bikes where tilted back when driving because I don't think they clicked it in the up position hard enough. I don't want that to be me. Those are just my thoughts, Mike. -Tom

    Do you think it would be ok to hold a hyper scorpion (90lbs) and a rad mini step thru (60lbs)? Also, any issues w a step thru bike, do you need a crossbar to lock in in place?

    • @evolutionaryTom
      @evolutionaryTom  4 года назад +1

      David, it might be 10 pounds past the rated limit but if you remove the batteries you should be well within the limit. You do NOT need a crossbar to use this rack. You just need a bar that the clamp can reach. The clamp bars are pretty adjustable. I would think it could still reach a bar on your bike. Just my opinion. If it didn't, you could always return the rack but make sure you can before you purchase it. I think it would work though. Thanks for the great questions. -Tom

    Hi how does it hold up on the highways in your opinion above 50 mph? Thanks

    • @evolutionaryTom

      Great question, MG. It's not rock solid, even when you tighten down the anti-sway feature where the mount goes into the 2" receiver. It will sway just a few inches either way. At first I was concerned about that but then I realized that a little give is good because it helps buffer the large bumps you might drive over. The bikes sit on the rack very solid. I've never had to stop and tighten anything back up. Highway speeds aren't an issue. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. -Tom
