He was a great goalkeeper in his day, but I think this tournament was one too far. I think a younger keeper wouldn't have conceded the soft goal to West Germany and made the mistake in this game.

And the referee did not see any of it, Baggio's handball and Wright's foul.

If Baggio is closer to the goal line than just one of them, then he is offside. When I watched the game in July 1990 I had the impression that the goal was regular. However, with this close-up of the clash between Shilton and Berti, it’s no longer clear.
