The doctors told us the cancer was spreading quickly. I hadn't been to church in about 6 years, but my mom told me to go and pray for her. I did this as many times as I could. The preacher and everyone in the church would pray for her. They removed a lobe of her lung. She has been cancer free for 3 years.
My step-dad got his from working in a plant that made insulation. What stunned the doctors is that it started at the bottom of his foot. He saved three teens from cancer when the local doctor was doing physical examinations for sports and noticed that they had similar spots. They were sent to different dermatologist and each came back positive for cancer. Their parents were pleased that theirs were caught in time. The doctor told them it was my step dad. He had passed away by then. It moved to his brain. Three after a procedure he passed away.
Our only hope is in our Creator who over looks all religious denominations and over looks all those who believe in Him yet do not belong to any denomination. God hears us all.

I think helping one another is the most powerful thing. Any good feelings someone might get from practicing a religion isn't going to help others around us, we need empathy and humanism in action for that. Whether Christian, Muslim, Jewish, atheist, etc. we have the power to actively help one another. That is where real change happens.

I have had such a tumultuous life. My belief in God is, at times, the ONLY thing that got me through the hell I have lived in. I know not everyone that sees this video will believe in God, I know that for some reason some of you will feel the need to say cruel and hateful things to & about those of us who do believe. Wow, reading some of these comments, I realized that people need to actually listen to the song. It's naming off many of the issues today and not stressing that all they do is pray. They are saying that we as a whole can make a deference, even if its just one of us and they pray for a better day. Because its no secret that this Nation is going down hill. So if everyone truly tried to make a difference then this place would be a better place and That's why they pray.

I can't speak for the others, but the belief in God is not my problem. My problem is the belief that asking God is the best and in some case only solution. The song sends the message "We have many problems, we should do something!" but then offers "prayer" as the only option. I just don't want people with great, noble intentions (as I'm sure many of you are) not doing as much as they could because they think prayer is enough.

In highschool(when this song came out), I sang this song in my truck and I always felt a sinking feeling in my heart, at that part. Simply cause I couldnt comprehend such hardships to truly drive me from God. That is, until I lost my military/FD careers, the girl I loved more than anyone, my house, many family members, my health, and partially, my sanity. I never denied God's existence, but He showed me what it takes to create such doubt in yourself and your complete existence. I still have yet to figure out why I had to endure these trials, but I can only hope and trust that it is for a good reason. I figure I got nothing to lose. I cant be like everyone else. All I literally have, is God. Without Him, I got nothing.

But you also see most sinners in these categories. I use to be kind of a non-believer, but after seeing prayer acthually work there is no way i have any doubt that prayer works....My mom diagnosed with stage four cancer doctor told her nothing would work...after praying so much my mom cured after only one year.....My friend....Had a blood problem doctors told his parents three times he wasnt going to make it...prayed hard for him...the impossible ...possible. Survied...etc. Im def a believer now! Good things happen to good people:) thanks God!

About two years ago, my sister was driving home. (She had softball practice.) She was hit head-on by a drunk driver. Both of the cars were totaled, the man was driving 60 mph during time of collision. Both my sister and the man were life-flighted to the hospital. My sister had suffered numerous cuts and bruises, a fractured skull, broken wrist, and two broken ribs. I prayed for a couple hours. She almost lost her softball scholarship due to her wrist. She made a full recovery and is a catcher.

I showed you two large instances of how prayer has affected my life. I did not mention the small things, praying to get into my favorite college, praying for my dad to return from Afghanistan, praying for my friend who was beaten and robbed, praying for my uncle to get a job, praying for my aunt to stop smoking and doing drugs, etc. The ONLY time prayer hasn't worked for me was this last presidential election. :)

I'm an atheist and still love this song. Remember what it says in AA. God as you understand him/the concept of a higher power. If that's Yahweh, Vishnu, Allah, the idea of karma or the flying spaghetti monster, who cares? It's about helping your fellow human and striving for better. Not for the assurance of eternal life but practicing good for good's own sake.

I use to be kind of a non-believer, but after seeing prayer acthually work there is no way i have any doubt that prayer works....My mom diagnosed with stage four cancer doctor told her nothing would work...after praying so much my mom cured after only one year.....My friend....Had a blood problem doctors told his parents three times he wasnt going to make it...prayed hard for him...the impossible ...possible. Survied...etc. Im def a believer now! Good things happen to good people:) thanks God!

About two years ago, my sister was driving home. (She had softball practice.) She was hit head-on by a drunk driver. Both of the cars were totaled, the man was driving 60 mph during time of collision. Both my sister and the man were life-flighted to the hospital. My sister had suffered numerous cuts and bruises, a fractured skull, broken wrist, and two broken ribs. I prayed for a couple hours. She almost lost her softball scholarship due to her wrist. She made a full recovery and is a catcher.

I showed you two large instances of how prayer has affected my life. I did not mention the small things, praying to get into my favorite college, praying for my dad to return from Afghanistan, praying for my friend who was beaten and robbed, praying for my uncle to get a job, praying for my aunt to stop smoking and doing drugs, etc. The ONLY time prayer hasn't worked for me was this last presidential election. :)

I'm an atheist and still love this song. Remember what it says in AA. God as you understand him/the concept of a higher power. If that's Yahweh, Vishnu, Allah, the idea of karma or the flying spaghetti monster, who cares? It's about helping your fellow human and striving for better. Not for the assurance of eternal life but practicing good for good's own sake.
