I remember watching this live. I was 15 or 16 at the time and stumbled across the test pattern countdown whilst tuning channels into the family TV some days earlier. I had not heard about a new channel starting. At that age I didn't read newspapers much, and other TV channels certainly were not talking about it - but I suspected it was a new channel and given we only had 3 channels - 2, 7 and 9 at the time (I don't think SBS was around then) - a new channel appearing was fascinating to me, and I was perplexed what this countdown signal was all about. Nobody else I knew could tell me anything about this - I felt like I'd made some sort of exciting discovery that nobody else knew about. I took a note of when the counter was due to reach zero, and tuned in again days later at that exact moment. And now I get see the first minutes of the channel 10 broadcast in Perth yet again. I actually recall thinking at the time it looked lame, cheap and tacky compared to the other stations promotional bits you often saw between ads.
I was on a kids quiz show back then. My parents have it on video somewhere but is there anyway I could find it ? ( without having to have the VHS converted to a disc)
Perthshire Scotland where bulls swim a mile thru pristine trout laden waters to another pasture rich island beckoned by the scent of heffers on the breeze
"X" marks the spot for, I have no doubt that Perth was awesome to exist in via the 1980's but real question is that, how is it now via the 2020's as of now after 34 years later?!...If is television is anything to go by as of now?! Still I appreciate that awesome singing jive though, I believe you atleast back then sigh....
Twiggy Forrest, Gina Reinhart, Rose Porteous, Hank Marvin. Snowy White...Virginia Guiffre,,, plus a few pretty popular Sports people... a variety of people like living here coz they dont get annoyed
Rubbish. Perth is the fastest growing city in Australia. All the direct flights to London, Rome, Paris, Dubai etc are changing the dynamics of Perth. Also Perth is about to overtake Brisbane as 3rd largest city in oz ..chew on them apples
Also Not Used In Brisbane Until September 1988 After Change Frequency From 0 To 10

This is probably the best TV promo tune ever here in Australia. Thanks for sharing.
You’re joking right? 😮
“That’s Melbourne that’s Ten” = much better!
This was around the same time that Brisbane switched from TV0 to 10
Hahaha I remember filming that!
was everyone wincing and avoiding eye contact because it was so unbearably cringe?
What were we thinking in the 80’s

No one famous lives in Perth. Too remote.
