THIS is how you do lgbtq representation in media, I’ve finally found a story that does it well. Even if I am lgbtq, I not a fan of how a lot of people do representation in most media; it usually feels forced and doesn’t mix well with the series, but this is pretty much perfect. Clear, unforced, and flows naturally with the series it’s put in, both you and the writer of the story should give themselves a pat on the back for this one.
That's a rabbit hole I'd rather not get into, when it comes to the whole drawing the line thing. Though I will say that this comment reminded me of an idea I had on how LGBT+ stuff could fit into a Thomas story, which basically involved someone like Percy finding out one of the workers was basically part of the group, and pretty much going from there on how the story could go. On a side note, I'd imagine the Skarloey engines would've been a fitting place in regards to identity and dead names too, given the characters who work there.
Some engines have numbers instead of names. And some engines don't like the name that was first given to them. Glad to see that Edward is always kind and respectful.
As a trans person in a very simular situation to jane.. this story hit me hard and im so happy to see representation like this in the community. I genuinely teared up when i saw this and im very happy. Thank you for making this and happy pride!!
This was such a wonderful story omg😭👏🏽 As someone who is going through the exact same experience as Jane, I thank you & The Jolly Rancher for gifting us with such great representation.
Just found this now, and I feel close to tears. Seriously, I relate to Jane a lot. I’ve withdrawn myself from a lot of people, even my friends. I’ve reconnected with most, and they’ve understood. Those who haven’t, I’ve simply pushed away. And even though I’m only 13, I’ve started pushing my rejecting family members away. They’ve been straight up mentally abusing me about this. Even writing this comment makes me realize how much I related to Jane here. Personally, I’m still trying to figure out whether I like Lily, Monika, or Doll the most. Okay enough emotional stuff, I just had to get this out.
This was quite surprising, but in a really good way. I'm not LGBTQ+, but I think it was a really nice story, and it's important to have representation and all that.
Good story. I had to go back thirty seconds and relisten on the shed scene and realise that it was not James being said but Jane. And I have had tinnitus for years so picking up similar sounds can be a challenge at times.
This story really showed how to represent lgbtq in social media, jimmy’s writing of the story was well done, even tram engine studios did a good job for being the narrator of the story. The story was really touching and does have its moments. 🙂 Anyway, great work on the video and happy pride month. 👍 🏳️🌈
Nice. It makes sense, if a machine is sentient it would eventually contemplate it's existence and it's name and just like some people jane didn't like the name she was given. It is a wonderful video.
What a beautiful story I love the concept of the whole story and tbh I've changed my name to mine used to be Riley but I changed it to Ryan I think this is a wonderful story.
Wait? Is the Engine Trans? I'm thankful that my Name is used by both Genders so when I became Female I could keep it But thank you for showing Representation to my Community although it feels weird realizing The Trains can be Trans now.
Now that is how to represent transgender folks in the Thomas and friends fandom. Now we need more stories about folks with autism. I have autism myself and I would like people to be well educated about folks like me.
@blazingswordsman5410 Non-binary by a Thomas youtuber called "DemonOfNowhere" (their oc Johnson) Gay from another youtuber and series I've forgotten the name of 😭
@@evanclarke5561Dead naming is when you refer to someone ( usually someone who is trans) by their name before their transition. It’s okay you didn’t know. Hope this helps

What a sweet story you've made. And Happy Pride Month, too! :)

@@lowcamakesstuff Jane is the vibe!!

I'll be honest. I heard "Ja" and thought, "Oh, it's James!" And then, expectation subversion. I loved it.
that’s what I thought too.
Why James?
@@AbbeyYard cause they were the same class and had similar paint jobs.
and yes I know james wasn’t on sodor yet nor was he painted red yet.
This is genuinely the sweetest, most wholesome fan story I’ve listened to in ages. I genuinely shed a tear, this was beautiful!
This made me teary eyes. I wish I had this kind of reaction and respect.
Hey!🖐😊
I’m so glad you chose to do this - Jolly’s stories are criminally underrated, especially when it comes to being adapted. Bravo!
I could totally see Edward telling Percy this story after Percy saw some old nameplates at the works that read "John"
