1:58 This is a strike of genius from the developer side. This escape sequence does in no way rely on you managing portals. It's an action sequence, and the developers knew it. So to make sure that the moment isn't ruined, they hold your hand this once, without the player realizing it.
You didn't mention the secret that I expected to see that not a lot of people know. When you are testing with GLaDOS, there is a chamber that when you press a button, instead of dropping the thing you need, it throws garbage at you instead. GLaDOS acknowledges this and asks you politely to simply ignore it, but if you grab the radio and head into the Ratman den in the test chamber, there is a spot that you can place the radio that will start playing a garbled message. This is a nod to an achievement you could get in the first Portal, but you can also take it a step further. The sound you're hearing is actually a form of data transport in which sound is used to transfer an image from one place to another. If you can change the sound into a picture, it gives you a rather pleasant image of a Companion Cube, on the moon.
Pánfila Filomena If you actually read my comment past the word "Portal", you would know that it is Portal 2. I just said it was a sort of homage to an achievement. Not the actual achievement.
Ok I actually made a pterodactyl noise when I saw that you replied to this comment. I can now rest easily knowing I have made a youtuber laugh. Love your vids by the way, so keep it up.
lmao that happened to me at the best part of a new movie (it was a few years ago i dont remember what it was) and i screamed so loud my friend thought i like cut off my arm or something
The AngelofFire 7:48 big spoilers, but isn't it canon that Chell was the daughter of Cave Johnson and Caroline? and that they couldn't take care of her and had one of their employees(Doug Ratman) adopt her?
Regarding number 9, I think the rule issue is "A portal, once placed, cannot change its orientation." The panels in the neurotoxin chamber are moving...but they maintain continuous orientation until they leave the screen.
***** Also, Read the comments. They show how he is right. Portals cant move like they did in Portal 1 test chamber 10 because then when something enters and exits the portal its velocity would increase or decrease accordingly. That would therefore rip apart what ever was traveling through it as one part of the object would be going faster than the other part could at that moment. This also rips the portals apart leading to why they disintegrate in Portal 1 & 2 when a portal is moved along the axis of its opening or rotated along a point off the portal. Both of these instances cause a change in velocity comparative to the axis of the portal's opening.
They can't move, or it would break anything thats passing through. Except for the fact that the portal would desapear, it would be fine as the only thing that passes through the portal in this part of the game is a laser
I'm gonna add something. We knew that portals can be placed on static (static?... Sorry, English isn't my first language. Anyway, something that does not move) walls and floor and, according to relativity physics, the "static" (it sounds awful, sorry again) and the constant linear movement (once again, I don't know how is called, I'm just translating from Spanish) are the same things. This explains #9 because there's no acceleration in the wall that's moving, so it's the same. And in Portal 1, when the portal disappears is because the wall starts moving, in other words, there's acceleration and therefore there's no constant linear movement and the portal is not in the same place.
"There is a fan theory that Chell is the daughter of Cave Johnson and Caroline, though I find that very hard to believe." Wasn't there explicit evidence in the game? I haven't played it in a year or two, but I certainly remember lots of evidence pointing towards GLaDOS being Caroline, and also being Chell's mother.
well there could be a thing about chell and caroline being the same person as int the end of portal2 glados says ...thought me where caroline lives in my brain.... and then ...caroline deleted... then: goodbye caroline.
I believe that there is complete and absolute canon evidence that Chell is in fact Cave and Caroline's love child. Whenever they have her they're both "married to science" so, they give her to a lowly scientist that raises her as their own. On take your daughter to work day Chell is there with her adopted parent. That is also the day that GLaDOS pumps neurotoxin into the air and take the human test subjects. This was obviously very close to when Cave dies. And he states in a message that Caroline should run the facility and to force her if she refuses, to "drop her in my computer". So, maybe when she did the neurotoxin she kept Chell because Caroline was still pretty relevant in her core. Also, the BIGGEST piece of evidence pertaining to Chell being their daughter is at the end when GLaDOS sends her away. The opera song that the turrets sing is a parent (mother) saying good bye to their child. I personally think it's completely canon that Chell is their daughter.
Kimmeh Geary For a second I thought I replied to the wrong comment...anyways, what I said is that this is evidence more than hard enough to take to a court battle! The only thing that can throw this off is a plot twist large and complex enough to make sense, and that would be a somewhat difficult task.
For me, I definitely feel like chell is the daughter of an important figure at aperture, considering her name shows up as “Chell, [REDACTED]” in the lab rat comic
That Wheatley dialog is amazing, that's the only thing on this list that i was really bummed i didn't know about. Especially since it's so easily missable and this game is basically all about the inane character dialog.
Syyborg Gaming AMAZING FACT 1 i saw this at 13:20 at the end of portal 2 in the back of the orchestra you can see a strange animal hoping in the background next to a light..................maybe an uncovered easter egg if you see it too can you please make a video about it? make spread the word? if you do please give me credit your answer is appreciated
i was sure that I knew everything about portal... then I saw #2.. *HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT #2????* BTW fun fact that kinda goes along with #6 (where you talk about wheatley not being able to be fizzled) I have actually made portal 2 levels, and messed around with weatley's model. and there are four interesting (unused) animations I found. Their names are: sphere-react-fizzler-happy, sphere-react-fizzler-freeze, sphere-react-fizzler-spin, AND sphere-react-fizzler-flinch. (those minus signs should be underscores, but youtube comment layout wouldn't let me do that) Each of those animations show wheatley react by acting fearful of something behind him, act like the fizzler "tickled" him, or act like he thinks he is about to die, but realize he doesn't. These animations look like they are perfect for the situation of the player holding weatley and walking through a fizzler, and weatley being afraid of what might happen. ALSO I found animations titled: sphere-react-laser-freeze sphere-react-laser-ow sphere-react-laser-scream AND sphere-react-portal-happy The "laser" animations show weatley getting hurt by lasers, and the "portal-happy" animation shows weatley having a joyful expression and looking around himself, ( _probably expressing that he is happily surprised by having gone through a portal_ ) All these unused animations really make me think that Valve originally planned for weatley to have been hold-able in some chambers, and have him react to the obstacles within. Or maybe even more... *Valve might have planned for the ability for players to be able to grab weatley from the walls!* They just never got around to utilizing the animations because they thought no one would think to grab weatley in the moments he pops his head out of the wall! It's an interesting idea!
6:13 actually in the first chamber with the reflection cube wheatley also appears and you can grab him and take him through the emancipation grill and watch him not get fizzled. no need for custom maps.
The outside is FAKE. (my theory) In Portal 3, if they make it, you pick up the Portal gun, which is behind the shed, pickup the cube, and place it on the red button, which then opens the sky up in the background, and you continue testing, as GLaDOS gives you harder test chambers.....like my idea?
Nah man, its been confirmed there will be no portal 3, but half life 3 will be a crossover. I cant wait to see Chell Rattmann and Gordon Freemans kids :)
DropTheBase Incorrect. Heard on a video they are actually confirming Portal 3. Not sure if it will be a crossover but if it were to be that would be cool!
BonyBack Bailey The turret opera doesn't "say" anything. It's a mixture of Gibberish and bad Italian. “What is the story behind the Turret opera song? Was this something you wanted to do with your opera background?” "The composer, Mike Morasky was the driving force behind the Turret Opera. He wrote all the music. He requested that I use my legit voice (operatic sound) on some of the takes. He chose the takes to use. He asked me to make up some words. So I did so in my bad Italian." -Elin Mclain (voice of GLaDOS) in a Reddit Q&A
Syyborg Gaming It's actually italian and it says: "Cara bella, la mia bella, la mia bambina, o Chell! Ché la stima, ché la stima. O cara mia, addio! La mia bambina cara, perché non passi lontana? Sì, lontana da scienza, cara, cara mia bambina!" Etc...
Syyborg Gaming P.S. it says "dear child (as in daughter), Chell" Not that irrelevant ;) "He asked me to make up some words." Legit answer, otherwise it would spoil the entire game ;)
@Milky H Reverb is simulated inside the game engine to give the effect of audio waves bouncing around the geometry but effects like the old aperture speakers on cave's voice and the autotuning on GLaDOS's voice is baked into the raw game files. You may be confused since the perpetual testing initiative lines from cave do not have the speaker effects.
Did you notice the room where you get the dual portal gun for the first time (before backtracking though chamber 19) is the room where you were supposed to be lowered into the flames on the lift at the end of Portal 1. The portal gun you find there might have been from a previous test subject who wasn't as lucky and ended up in the fire. Afterall, all Aperture technologies remain safely operational up to 4000 degrees Kelvin.
That can't be because there can't be two test subjects testing the Portal Gun with the same portal colors. Several tests happen at the same time. So the portals would be connecting to the other tests. And as for the other thing, in the old Aperture facility, there is a poster which said: "This test is unsolvable without the *Aperture Science Handheld Portable Quantumm Tunneling Device* , so there WERE portal guns back in the '50s.
DarkProtoAnly what are you basing this on? Because Rattman moved her to #1 on the roster in Lab Rat? There were rosters of other test subjects before Chell was born, testing with portals. Right before you enter the first 1950's gel chamber, there's a sign telling you the test is impossible without the "quantum tunneling device". Cave mentions they were testing with portals in the 1980s also.
The daughter theory is very believable, but it's obvious she's adopted, as GlaDOS says so sincerely while she is still unable to lie. Chell is the (adopted) daughter of someone who worked at Aperture. GlaDOS' turrets sing to Chell at the end of the game. If you translate the Latin, (which will make you teary eyed), it clearly says, "Beautiful dear, my darling beauty! My child, Oh Chell!". Chell is a play on the word "cielo". The words sounds about the same. Cielo means sky, or is sometimes translated "heaven" (the Latin in "Cara Mia Addio" uses the word to mean heaven, but Valve used it as a double meaning for Chell's name). So: Caroline sets her daughter free, and the first thing Chell sees is unending sky. The only reason Chell is still alive is that something inside GlaDOS -- Caroline -- can't actually kill her, and doesn't want her to be gone. GlaDOS deletes Caroline so she can actually let Chell go. I find it very obvious, and super intense. I love the deeper meaning to the game. A bonus here is if you notice, GlaDOS' voice and mannerisms change as she "becomes" more like Caroline -- more human. One easter egg you missed, by the way, is the room with the portrait of Caroline and Cave Johnson. :)
Why does it always feel like there was an apocalypse and 90% of life on earth are now dead or zombies when I play Portal/2? It always seems like outside of the Aperture labs, there is nothing left...
***** I have played half life 2 while my new death star was being built. I just mean right outside of Aperture labs it feels like left 4 dead or something...
6:22 If you create a test chamber or play in one with a grid, then spawn wheatly using the command "ent_create npc_personality_core" you can get him in game, though he is the same as the one you find in the test chambers. Fun Fact: Any of the times wheatly appears to peak at your durring the game he can be picked up, If you were to noclip through the wall you could grab him most of the time.
At the end when you fire a portal at the moon, you always have to fire a blue portal as the portal under Wheatley is always orange after you reach the stalemate button, even if you fire a blue portal under Wheatley to get there, they will switch.
The theory that Chel is Cave Johnson's daughter is actually one of my favorite theories, and there a several other bits of evidence in the game to support it.
But old aperture was built in the 50's chells estimate age in portal one was 20. Portal one takes place right after the combine invasion which is around 2022. Why cant we just have a character that has no backstory and enjoy their story forming.
CaptainBlue777 But that's just a theory... A GAME THEORY!!! Seriously though, you see the cube get emancipated more than once this video and no bodies fall out, so I find that unlikely. You know, unless they're programmed to recognize dead bodies as something to be emancipated... :/
CaptainBlue777 Don't take Game Theory as fact/canon. While it mostly makes sense, it doesn't really fit. Most Game Theories are incorrect, but it's fun to see the speculation.
TwighlightLugia in the chamber with the companion cube (in portal 1) i got to an almost silent room and got right beside it,i could here things, creepy things
1:50 I saw the moving surfaces, but because my mind was like: "You cant place a portal on moving surface." I didn't even bother to place a portal on it and spend like 45min there trying to figure out what to do XD
Sorry, but to be fair, they were just about the only things you could shoot at there. I think the logic excuse to allow that is those platforms were in-motion (at a constant speed), which is a unique opportunity from everywhere else in the game (or the prior game, for that matter). Therefore, we have to assume that if the platforms stopped, the portal established *while moving* would close.
I thought I had to wait for Wheatley to hack something. Then I got lost and shot a portal at the laser (which I didn’t see at first), and just shot portals at random. Then I realized what I had to do, and I made sure to look directly at the implosion.
I started playing Portal 2 again and the part in the game with the sped up line from GlaDoS came up, flooding back memories to this vid. Though my tastes in videos have changed quite a bit since first watching, it's nice being able to retrace some of my steps from 7 years ago. To those of you reading this, I wish you all the best in your lives, wherever they may take you.
I think the theory that Chell is Caroline's daughter makes A LOT of sense. I mean, that is the only _good_ reason I can think of why they would go to the trouble of putting Chell’s name in that science fair project. Otherwise, it would be completely pointless, and just poor storytelling. And besides, have you not seen the lyrics to the song that plays at the end, Cara Mia?
yeah but if that is true then WHY WOULD SHE PUT CHELL IN THE LIST FOR TEST SUBJECTS IF SHE KNEW THAT THAT TEST HAD BEEN DIFFICULT ENOUGH TO KILL FULLY FREAKING TRAINED OLYMPIC ATHLETES. *Inhales sharply* BOI
Caleborg in portal 1 in one of the test chambers glados says “bring your daughter to work day is the best time to get them tested” or something like that
Syyborg Gaming That potato thing that chell made, it says on the poster that she used a special ingridient from dad's work appreture sience and the dad is the only one that survived the neurotoxin and the dad is rattman
Why do you find it too coincidental? The opera song , turret anthem at the end is Cara Mia Adio it's also know as goodbye daughter. It literally translates to Beautiful dear, my beautiful darling! My little girl Oh, Chell! I'm pretty sure that's not a coincidence.
righttt Caroline was chells mom and she probably set it up to where the announcer says that Caroline is deleted after she says that because she's smart enough to do that and just yeah
I love when in the neurotoxin room if you stand by the office Wheatley goes on and on about the room. I also love at the part where he kills you if you come back and stand by the pit he will say a whole bunch to try to get you to go into the pit. I also like after the turret scanning room if you watch through the glass you can see Wheatley "hacking" the door (looking back and forth).
Did you know, that nothing on a computer can be deleted, only rewritten? Computers just say they delete something by putting it in a spot where it cannot be accessed by the user and the. Will be rewritten if given more things to store, but people have been able to retrieve this "deleted" information and that means, Caroline could still be alive!
Actually grammar nazi, (lol) thank you, because I knew I Learned that somewhere but I forgot where I learned that, I would have given a link to the channel but I forgot who taught me that fact! So thank you! :)
I like to think that the reason we're able to place portals on the neurotoxcin puzzle is that portals actually can move when they're moving just horizontally, but cannot go forwards or backwards
I just want to tell you that it actually is from a command called allow_mobile_portals and the value of this gets changed to a value of 1 when entering neurotoxin sabotage and stays 0 after you complete neurotoxin sabotage for the rest of the game but you can think what you like to think
According to Greek mythology, heaven is a cornfield. U get there while listening to calm music with Ur companion (just like the game which flushes the cube out) which happens only after death. This means that the turrets killed chell while gladous calling her as her daughter. Good job there
Okay, about moving portals... I think I've made sense of it. In the end of the game, you have one portal on earth and the other on the moon. The moon is constantly both spinning and revolving around the planet. These portals are moving in relation to each other and in relation to the player. This and the neurotoxin room have led me to the conclusion that portals can move, as long as the change isn't too drastic (pertaining to the portal's orientation, anyway. However, its actual location can change much more drastically like we see in the neurotoxin room.) The molecules of any solid surface are never perfectly flat, and they're constantly vibrating, so clearly there is some tolerance for how flat or still surfaces can be. But clearly it depends more on rotation than translation of the portal, because as long as there is no rotation, the portal can be translated up into the ceiling of the neurotoxin room as far as you let it go. Who all agrees?
One small issue: in chapter 9, a test chamber (defective turret death trap) is moved over a catwalk, the portals can’t be placed on the side until the chamber stops moving.
Close, you had me worried for a bit, but I knew them all. Get gud. Honesty, leaving the shower curtain thing till the end? I though Aperture's history for far more common knowledge then some of the others. Number 2 was an interesting one though, I knew portals auto alined, and that you could override this by trying over, but as for the Wheatly lines I actually unintentionally ran across these on one of my first playthroughs. Still, rather than listing some of the more minor, singular events you could have tried some of the more hidden, yet still mostly unknown things, like the Borealis drydock.
Syyborg Gaming I know, but still. Thought the hidden dry dock was less known than some other things you listed, but perhaps not as interesting, so hush my mouth. Still, best of luck on these videos, perhaps one day you'll point out something I didn't know and my inferiority complex will kick in full force and my head will explode. None the less, good videos. Keep up the good work.
Wheatly maybe prevented it for his own amusement. He also was designed to make bad decisions, so keeping the one thing alive that could usurp you is the reverse of what you should do.
The one where dead test subjects are stuffed inside the weighted companion cubes. They're the weight- and the reason while the companion cube is never met with an opportunity to go through an emancipation grid. Also, the GLaDOS bits might not get emancipated because they are robot parts. Also, they don't have a fizzle animation, just like wheatley in that one glitch.
I have a question that nobody seems to want to answer or does not know the answer. In Portal 2, during the first half of the game, Wheatley had us destroy the neurotoxin generator. However, at the end of the game, during the Wheatley fight, he floods the room with the deadly nerotoxin. My question is this - from where does the nerotoxin come if the generator was destroyed? We all know that Wheatley is too stupid and moronic to have fixed it when he took over GLaDOS' body.
The moving your portal thing also applies to: the first escape in chapter 9 (blue portal on the wall, blue portal under you) and in the moon section (orange portal under Wheatley, orange portal at the moon)
It's in Test Chamber 16 - it's one of those chambers with the turrets; you specifically have to point the laser at a turret that's sitting inside a crawl space, which will also blow the entrance to the space open. Inside is one of Doug Rattmann's secret dens - and from there, you find those singing turrets: ruclips.net/video/fbzUT-99w88/видео.html
For Number 6 You can do the same thing with Wheatley in Chamber 2 of Chapter 2 Also in the chamber where you get the Final Transition Achievement (Chamber 6 Chapter 2) You can use a Edgeless safety cube to power the button and try to bring the cube with you but it can't go throught the door.
there's a theory that cave johnson turned aperture into a science company after he accidentally made portals on his asbestos shower curtains and i love that theory because that is exactly the kind of thing cave would do
Kenneth Morgan McGregor portal 2 is how old? And, how many videos are on RUclips about it? If you watched the video when it came out, you most likely wouldn't have known.
Fun fact: You can apparently also trap yourself in chamber 07. I started re-playing the game recently and I learned this. I simply let GLaDOS fizzle the first two cubes but then grabbed Wheatley through the wall. I completed the test as normal, albeit taking Wheatley with me. Once I got outside the exit to the chamber, I left Wheatley there to also try to take the Companion Cube with me, although after I fell down to where the cube and button were (And I believe I tried to pick up the cube), I got trapped since every time I tried to put the cube back onto the button it fizzled. The weirdest part is that the game didn’t realize I got trapped and correct it like with other test chambers where you can get trapped. I don’t know if almost nobody else found this or if this is just common knowledge, but I thought I’d share the experience regardless. EDIT: Huh, what’s even weirder is that once I tried re-doing the test GLaDOS said I DID get trapped this time, even though I think this time I WASN’T really trapped. What I did was pretty much the same as last time, of course this time I planned not to try and take the cube. I put the cube on the button, and then tried throwing Wheatley up to the platform where the exit was, then out of nowhere GLaDOS said I was trapped and she fizzled the cube despite the fact that I could’ve just completed the test as normal.
Rusty Fisher You don't get it. Lets imagine that I am moving near the speed of light in relation to the earth. This means that the earth is moving near the speed of light in relation to me, flat or not.
10 - I did know this. 09 - I did know this. 08 - I did know this. 07 - I did know this. 06 - I did know this. 05 - I did know this. 04 - I did know this. 03 - I did know this. 02 - I did know this. 01 - I did know this. . . . . . . . JOKING. Appreciate, your insight.
It’s not been the auto tuned thing. They probably realized that “oh shoot people can trap themselves here and the fame releases in 2 days” and didn’t have time to edit all it in.
About the "Valve saves you by moving portals", they did that bc people would get so confused when they'd die bc they didn't realize they placed the wrong one.
I did know all those facts, but I'll give you a like anyway. Not because you told me to do the opposite, but because I feel like it. Enjoy your new like.
I hate to say it. But I know all 10 Facts you stated. The funniest thing is I never played Portal 2. I am not lying on what I am saying. Reply back to me on how I know. Don't worry I won't dislike your video. I find that kind of mean. However, I won't like your video either. Seems fair enough. I don't know why people wouldn't know these facts. Even if they didn't play it...
Ian Tennant It's simple. I learned all 10 facts as soon as the video told me all 10 facts. It sounds cheap I know. However, you can't deny the fact you and I now know all 10 facts.
Ian Tennant Thank You. I appreciate it. Although, now that everyone would know this information, I wouldn't like to see this video get loads of dislikes. So I am suggesting, if you follow my logic, then don't dislike the video.
Actually, if you translate the song that is sung to you by the turrets at the end then it reveals that Chell is indeed the daughter of Caroline. Also after you are thrown into the pit by wheatley and you meet up with GLaDos there is a painting that you can find that has both Cave Johnson and Caroline together implying that they were married or a couple.
I actually got a compliment from GLADOS, she said “wow, you’re solving these test faster then I can make them.”
be slower.
**one test camber later**
yes, you listen to me, but you don't need to solve it THAT slow
That was the set up to roast the shit out of you in the next quote
how come i speed run a level and complete it in under 60 seconds glados calls me slow
Superleto because it wasn’t under 5 seconds
she complimented me by calling me fat.

I had no idea of that extra dialog segment Wheatley had. Thanks for the laughs.

AMAZING FACT 1 i saw this at 13:20 at the end of portal 2 in the back of the orchestra you can see a strange animal hoping in the background next to a light..................maybe an uncovered easter egg if you see it too can you please make a video about it? make spread the word? if you do please give me credit
your answer is appreciated
BrickitSAM I don't see it. Could you tell me which part of the screen it is?

Actually that is one of Wheatley's deformed Turrets

Same, especially with that intense music, I almost wheezed when he said "number 10"
i was sure that I knew everything about portal... then I saw #2.. *HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT #2????*
BTW fun fact that kinda goes along with #6 (where you talk about wheatley not being able to be fizzled)
I have actually made portal 2 levels, and messed around with weatley's model. and there are four interesting (unused) animations I found. Their names are:
sphere-react-fizzler-happy,
sphere-react-fizzler-freeze,
sphere-react-fizzler-spin,
AND sphere-react-fizzler-flinch.
(those minus signs should be underscores, but youtube comment layout wouldn't let me do that)
Each of those animations show wheatley react by acting fearful of something behind him, act like the fizzler "tickled" him, or act like he thinks he is about to die, but realize he doesn't. These animations look like they are perfect for the situation of the player holding weatley and walking through a fizzler, and weatley being afraid of what might happen.
ALSO I found animations titled:
sphere-react-laser-freeze
sphere-react-laser-ow
sphere-react-laser-scream
AND sphere-react-portal-happy
The "laser" animations show weatley getting hurt by lasers, and the "portal-happy" animation shows weatley having a joyful expression and looking around himself, ( _probably expressing that he is happily surprised by having gone through a portal_ )
All these unused animations really make me think that Valve originally planned for weatley to have been hold-able in some chambers, and have him react to the obstacles within. Or maybe even more... *Valve might have planned for the ability for players to be able to grab weatley from the walls!* They just never got around to utilizing the animations because they thought no one would think to grab weatley in the moments he pops his head out of the wall! It's an interesting idea!
AMAZING
Toom-san Because people pass on after they see a large post. I read all of it.
i didnt reply cuz im a dick
Here: _ , just copy and paste
Funny how people actually believe in this shit.
6:13 actually in the first chamber with the reflection cube wheatley also appears and you can grab him and take him through the emancipation grill and watch him not get fizzled. no need for custom maps.
Portal is such a work of art... especially Wheatley's rants.
I think he's a very compelling character. Then again I'm a girl, so... bias.
I saw dat video too
Nah man, its been confirmed there will be no portal 3, but half life 3 will be a crossover. I cant wait to see Chell Rattmann and Gordon Freemans kids :)
DropTheBase Incorrect. Heard on a video they are actually confirming Portal 3. Not sure if it will be a crossover but if it were to be that would be cool!
Tommy Sandal No man, it's definately a crossover. Whether it'll be named HL 3 or Portal 3 I don't know, but it's confirmed they'll meet.
It ll sure be an EPPICCCCC game then
If you translate the turret song from Italian, she Glados calls Chell her baby and tells her to "run far away from science. What a shame."
BonyBack Bailey The turret opera doesn't "say" anything. It's a mixture of Gibberish and bad Italian.
“What is the story behind the Turret opera song? Was this something you wanted to do with your opera background?”
"The composer, Mike Morasky was the driving force behind the Turret Opera. He wrote all the music. He requested that I use my legit voice (operatic sound) on some of the takes. He chose the takes to use. He asked me to make up some words. So I did so in my bad Italian." -Elin Mclain (voice of GLaDOS) in a Reddit Q&A
Really? I saw a translation video that seemed pretty legit. But maybe you are right.
Syyborg Gaming
It's actually italian and it says:
"Cara bella, la mia bella, la mia bambina, o Chell!
Ché la stima, ché la stima.
O cara mia, addio!
La mia bambina cara, perché non passi lontana?
Sì, lontana da scienza, cara, cara mia bambina!"
Etc...
Syyborg Gaming
P.S. it says "dear child (as in daughter), Chell"
Not that irrelevant ;)
"He asked me to make up some words."
Legit answer, otherwise it would spoil the entire game ;)

Torna a lavorare su nuovi video, SCANSAFATICHE! XD
2:42 I think they forgot to put an audio filter on that line.
thats what i thought too. sounds so weird to hear the voice of the actual raw voice actor
nope, looks somewhat in par with the other voicelines
It just has less of it
@Milky H Reverb is simulated inside the game engine to give the effect of audio waves bouncing around the geometry but effects like the old aperture speakers on cave's voice and the autotuning on GLaDOS's voice is baked into the raw game files.
Chell was human test subject #1. There were no previous test subjects...
DarkProtoAnly Erm, and Cave Johnson talking to "test subjects" since the 1950s?
Weren't testing the portal gun in the 1950's. Chell was the first to test the portal gun. The others tested gels and such.
There really were two people in there with Chell's surname!
Noelle Knight bonus easter egg btw caroline + cave + chell = 3 cs
hl3 confirmed
It's not Latin, it's Italian
i think rattman is the father of chell
Shawn Peralta Quite Possibly. Judging by the Aperture Comics.
Why does it always feel like there was an apocalypse and 90% of life on earth are now dead or zombies when I play Portal/2? It always seems like outside of the Aperture labs, there is nothing left...
Mhm, I know the feeling. I always experience that too.
Play Half-Life 2 it runs along side Portal 2.
You've got a pretty accurate guess
***** I have played half life 2 while my new death star was being built. I just mean right outside of Aperture labs it feels like left 4 dead or something...
Maybe because Valve are going to combine the post apocalyptic world of Half Life with Portal????
Ali Masswi That would be amazing
but highly unlikely.
6:22 If you create a test chamber or play in one with a grid, then spawn wheatly using the command "ent_create
npc_personality_core" you can get him in game, though he is the same as the one you find in the test chambers.
Fun Fact: Any of the times wheatly appears to peak at your durring the game he can be picked up, If you were to noclip through the wall you could grab him most of the time.
To be honest I kind of wanted Wheatly to redeem himself in the end cause I liked him a lot.
Well, he does apologize.
There's also the Lego Dimensions Portal 2 story. It's not canon, but it's something.

I really doubt that Cave is Chell's daughter.
it would make a lot more sense for her to be ratmans daughter
@@SurrealLemon yeah
But old aperture was built in the 50's chells estimate age in portal one was 20. Portal one takes place right after the combine invasion which is around 2022. Why cant we just have a character that has no backstory and enjoy their story forming.

yes, they are very well known things that I've heard before. i have also seen a video with almost the same content, just presented better.
The legit weight INSIDE of the Companion Cubes ARE OTHER TEST SUBJECTS!
CaptainBlue777 But that's just a theory... A GAME THEORY!!!
Seriously though, you see the cube get emancipated more than once this video and no bodies fall out, so I find that unlikely. You know, unless they're programmed to recognize dead bodies as something to be emancipated... :/
Dead Matter And Other Things That Are Dead Are Emancipated, And Quicker Than Other Things.
Christopher Gaming Really? Where did you find this out?
CaptainBlue777 Don't take Game Theory as fact/canon. While it mostly makes sense, it doesn't really fit. Most Game Theories are incorrect, but it's fun to see the speculation.
CaptainBlue777 Hola como te va
Did you know that the Companion Cube sings the song that the turrets are singing at the end of the game? It's true! They ARE alive!
They _are_ alive, but I refuse to believe that bullshit theory about there being a person inside.
Ps, I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that.
TwighlightLugia in the chamber with the companion cube (in portal 1) i got to an almost silent room and got right beside it,i could here things, creepy things
You can hear electronic beeps to the tune of Cara Mia. That's it. I believe they're sentient, but not a fucking person. Just an immobile robot.
TwighlightLugia yea thats it,but im just freaked out i have a GRAVITY GUN IN PORTAL.
That has nothing to do with this discussion.
1:50 I saw the moving surfaces, but because my mind was like: "You cant place a portal on moving surface."
I didn't even bother to place a portal on it and spend like 45min there trying to figure out what to do XD
I like when he keeps going back to hear what Wheatley says. Wheatley is my favorite character in portal & portal 2
wheatly wasnt in the original portal
Tommy Sandal yes, but the lore said he WAS one of the cores out of many tried on GLaDOS before they finalized on the last 4 cores on her

Caleborg it was probably from caves influence to do it honestly
Caleborg
GLaDOS doesn’t pick the test subjects. The scientists did. Chell’s now the only one alive. 🤦♀️
@@S_hiiny you would think the scientists would be smart enough as well to know not to put their ceos daughter in line for testing as well.

It literally translates to
Beautiful dear, my beautiful darling!
My little girl
Oh, Chell!

I read this whole thing and i dont regret it
One small issue: in chapter 9, a test chamber (defective turret death trap) is moved over a catwalk, the portals can’t be placed on the side until the chamber stops moving.

ITS YOUR FAULT!! 🔶🔷
Ryan Mitchell But you knew about the Borealis, so that wouldn't have worked either way?
Syyborg Gaming
I know, but still.
"legally obligated"... bruh. It's a youtube video.
A good way to debunk the "Chell's the child of caroline and cave" is, cave's been dead, and Caroline's GLaDOS
"Now you're thinking with portals"
My #1 question about the world of portal.
How come PotatOS doesn't get emancipated?
A potato is organic.
But, that still doesn't explain why the GLaDOS-y bits don't get emancipated.
Wheatly maybe prevented it for his own amusement. He also was designed to make bad decisions, so keeping the one thing alive that could usurp you is the reverse of what you should do.
Makes sense.
Also- that supports the companion cube theory, seer
Celebi Gamer What do you mean? Could you expand on that?
Holy shit that's a good question I want answered too
Maybe a lost tank ? Gas ist storeable ^^
(To the question: The same is on the portal wiki. Unexplainable ^^)
@DeltroxTv Good to know I am in the right xD
The moving your portal thing also applies to: the first escape in chapter 9 (blue portal on the wall, blue portal under you) and in the moon section (orange portal under Wheatley, orange portal at the moon)
"..just remember what I said in slow motion."
well i think number 1 isnt really deserving its place. but number two was hilarious
You can find singing turrets in a chamber but I dont know which one it is
It's in Test Chamber 16 - it's one of those chambers with the turrets; you specifically have to point the laser at a turret that's sitting inside a crawl space, which will also blow the entrance to the space open. Inside is one of Doug Rattmann's secret dens - and from there, you find those singing turrets: ruclips.net/video/fbzUT-99w88/видео.html
Where you burn turrets with lazers
For Number 6
You can do the same thing with Wheatley in Chamber 2 of Chapter 2
Also in the chamber where you get the Final Transition Achievement
(Chamber 6 Chapter 2)
You can use a Edgeless safety cube to power the button and try to bring the cube with you but it can't go throught the door.
So if I watch this video two times? The second time I already know the ten facts, so may I live a dislike then?

If the portals can't move then they can't exist because you are allways constantly moving from a certain refference frame.
Flat Earth theory confirmed.
TGV JeReMy Even the flat earth would be moving from a certain refference frame.
I think it depends on the amount of motion, or how much you're fighting gravity.
Rusty Fisher You don't get it. Lets imagine that I am moving near the speed of light in relation to the earth. This means that the earth is moving near the speed of light in relation to me, flat or not.
***** Are we even talking about the same thing?
I really thought I would be able to dislike this video... I really did. good game.

Rapid000 TF2 シ HI RAPID
Knew them, but have a like for the effort.
SITS Industries Yay!
Does Glados' voice at 2:41 sound a bit off to anyone else?
Yeah. Ellen Mclain must've been feeling tired.
It’s not been the auto tuned thing. They probably realized that “oh shoot people can trap themselves here and the fame releases in 2 days” and didn’t have time to edit all it in.
thats the original one
from portal one i believe so
Sounds like they forgot to add the filters, or they purposely did that to try to hint at GLaDOS's human side.
Disappointed -she's- it's disappointing
About the "Valve saves you by moving portals", they did that bc people would get so confused when they'd die bc they didn't realize they placed the wrong one.
I did know all those facts, but I'll give you a like anyway. Not because you told me to do the opposite, but because I feel like it. Enjoy your new like.
XerxiesLv426 That's cheating, but I'll allow it just this once. :P
Syyborg Gaming Phew, I didn't think I was gonna get away with that one. :p
Luckily for you, your God is a merciful God. :P
Syyborg Gaming I don't have a god, I have a potato, his name is Charles and he has served me well over the years. All hail the mighty potato king!
WRONG, MORTAL! I AM YOUR GOD NOW! CHARLES HAS NO POWER OVER ME!
Did you know that the cube you got from the end is the cube you burned in portal 1
I know
I'm so fucking proud I knew all of these from all the other ''top ten facts: portal 2'' videos.
Fuck yeah
P.S. anyone wanna be friends? im lonely :3
no
i will
As many people know, the companion cube sings. But when I put the cube on the button in test chamber seven, I heard it and I was SOOO HAPPY
I watched twice so i already know it all therefore i can dislike lol
Me too lol
I hate to say it. But I know all 10 Facts you stated. The funniest thing is I never played Portal 2. I am not lying on what I am saying. Reply back to me on how I know. Don't worry I won't dislike your video. I find that kind of mean. However, I won't like your video either. Seems fair enough. I don't know why people wouldn't know these facts. Even if they didn't play it...
how do u know this stuff if you've never played portal 2?
Ian Tennant It's simple. I learned all 10 facts as soon as the video told me all 10 facts. It sounds cheap I know. However, you can't deny the fact you and I now know all 10 facts.
true. I like your logic.
Ian Tennant Thank You. I appreciate it. Although, now that everyone would know this information, I wouldn't like to see this video get loads of dislikes. So I am suggesting, if you follow my logic, then don't dislike the video.
actully he said "if you didn't ALREADY know these facts". its not much of a loop hole if it doesn't work...
I played this game 3 times through and im still crying at the end.
LEAVE ME ALONE
Actually, if you translate the song that is sung to you by the turrets at the end then it reveals that Chell is indeed the daughter of Caroline. Also after you are thrown into the pit by wheatley and you meet up with GLaDos there is a painting that you can find that has both Cave Johnson and Caroline together implying that they were married or a couple.
