Under the Redcoat

In Summer of 1781 General Cornwallis and his troops entered Williamsburg and declared martial law. Enjoy video slideshow of a living history reenactment in Colonial Williamsburg of the Redcoats entering and occupying Williamsburg. Photos include British marching into Williamsburg followed by camp followers, various checkpoints set up, soldiers harassing citizens, Cornwallis on horseback addressing citizens, the wives and camp followers preparing the generals evening meal, and much more. Cornwallis moved his troops to Yorktown where he was defeated and surrendered in October 1781.
