  • In a bit of a departure, Chuck and Mike take a look at Taylor Swift the Eras Tour movie. Honestly, it was actually really really good! If you are a Swifty, obviously you will love it. If not, you can still enjoy the huge production and theatrics. It was a lot of fun. So, bravo. Do you agree?

There are NO backing tracks. There is a live band and backup vocalists. She ALWAYS SINGS LIVE. Her target audience is EVERYONE. Only people who are to stubborn and think they too cool to take a deep dive into her discography will hate on her. It is no Arenas, it is stadiums. She donates to each cities food banks when she goes to a city. She gave bonuses of 51 million to her crew for this tour. Including 100K to each truck driver.

First, she sings live all the time. She has a complete band & backup singers. All the time. Second, this tour is a stadium tour only. No arenas. Average audience of 70k per night. Lastly, I am a swiftie and I'm most definitely not a young girl, lol. And I spent 5k + to see The Eras Tour in Denver. Traveling from Hawaii. So yeah. A true swiftie.

NO BACKING TRACKS ! Why are you insulting her before watching her live? That’s just insulting. Damn. She sings every song. She has background singers, yes. SHE is THE MAIN PERSON who sings every song. She also has a live band in her concerts. Each side of the stage has half of the band so that each seat sees the band. She writes, sings, performs and plays the instruments. Please reserve judgment for a live show. She’s not Milli Vanilli.
Just ridiculous to think that she’d perform the entire album for an ERA’S TOUR.

Taylor began her career in 2006 when she was 15 y.o. So we "the swifties" grew up with her along the way. So she has a lot of fans in their late 20's and 30's. The thing with Taylor is she knows how to capture the younger generations every time. so she has fans of all ages. I'm a 34 y.o. guy, the same age as Taylor, and I feel like I grew up with her. She knows how to connect with the fans.
The tour movie was filmed throughout 3 out of the 6 shows in a row she did in SoFi stadium. So all the movie performances are from the LA shows. A couple cool tidbits about this tour are:
It's the first tour in history to reach and surpass the 1 billion gross. She did it in less than 60 shows. And she still has more than 90 shows in 2024. All stadiums.
She's doing 8 shows in Wembely stadium in the UK in June. 6 in Australia's biggest stadiums, 6 shows in Singapore's biggest stadium. 6 in France, 3 in Scotland, 3 in Ireland, 7 in Germany, 9 in Canada.. Every city she's going it's multiple shows in the biggest venues. Each show with minimum 70k people

@@TwoGamingDudesMovies it was great. But as a hardcore fan, me and more fans wished she'd include more of her deep cuts. Cause the deep cuts are the ones we love the most. She sings her big hits on this tour, so wish she chose other tracks. Speaking of tracks, she always has live band with her. At all of her tour. Her band members have been with her since the beginning. And those who left, left because they chose to. Not cause Taylor kicked them

I had floor seats for the Minneapolis show ($354/ticket before ticketmaster tacked on almoat $200 in fees and taxes) and i swear, i had *the best* seats. I also went to see it with a friend in imax (she couldn't make the live show). SO MANY of the videos i took line up shot for shot with the concert film which was kind of thrilling.

@TwoGamingDudesMovies yesssss. I bought two at $354/ticket and ended up paying $978, I think? Could've almost bought a 3rd seat for those surcharges 🙃

I must say though, I'd have paid double for my seats, BUT NOT TAXES!, once I got there and realized how seriously great my seats were. It was a once in a lifetime experience for me that I'd gladly repeat (I've never seen her live before, despite being a fan since debut) and to get to live in each era for a little bit was an epic way to do it. I even got a Willow tree tattoo to commemorate it for myself 😊

She's had the same band with her forever, she plays guitar and piano, her backing singers and band do a phenomenal job, they are all performing live.
In the video and your comments you seem pretty attached to this idea that its a backing track with some live support but I think you'll find it's the opposite. All live with occasional technical support for some performances where the choreography or certain production elements of the song make that component difficult or impossible to reproduce live.

The band is live at every show …her back up singers are awesome and so are all the dancers….its a huge production..328 people travel with her for each show not including her band and singers…no lip sync….ever…get with the program

@@TwoGamingDudesMovies her band is at the ends of the stage, and her band is live for all her performances. plus she sings live and has backup vocalists (can be seen throughout the movie). so she always sings live- which is also why when she was younger and not that good/ strong of a singer people have since then generally thought of her as a bad singer and she got a lot of criticism. then she worked on it a lot and is now a much better singer.

Idk, I think she’s got a pretty decent pop voice. What’s really impressive is how mature and complex her songwriting has become. Fun to see the progression.

I have no doubt she's got an amazing live band up on stage - I just wonder if that's the same sound we hear in the theater, or if there's a fair bit of "movie magic" happening. Like if you saw it live, then watched the movie, how different would the sound be? I mean, maybe they did mic up the whole band and got a perfect recording. The credits for the movie feature about a dozen sound editors, re-recording mixers, and sound mixers... could be for the live recording, or could be "movie magic."
