Would placing a stiffener at the point of load application produce a more mathematically accurate result since local failure possibly would’ve been avoided. I did not expect the local failure since the flanges do appear compact.
It would likely be too strong for the press and might cause a failure in the press instead of the beam. Always have to think of that possibility. Stiffeners increase the strength by 2-3x. That would put a hell of a strain on the press.
