You're not going to believe it but I last watched this video about 10 years and for some reason I wanted to watch it again. I kept trying to find it find it find it, and finally found this video again.
Well I found your video more than 6 years later and glad I did. Congrats on accomplishing your journey, very well made video and done with a smile, humour (whiskey nudge nudge) and no bullshit. If anyone is thinking whether they should do their first solo cycling adventure, then they should view your video first, very inspiring. My first solo cycling adventures came late in life (ie after I retired) so glad I did them. Best of luck for the future Andy !!!
Hey mate I just wanted to let you know I've watched this video so many times, it's probably my favourite video on youtube, the highlands are so beautiful and magical, Tin Sparrow are now one of my favourite bands and your video is fantastic. In fact I loved it so much you've inspired me to do the exact same things and I leave in two days, cycling pretty much the exact same route except starting in edinburgh and going the opposite way round. Legend mate, cheers, Liam.
A great video. Looks like you had a real adventure in Scotland. Cycling and camping are the perfect combo to see the world! You should put Wales on your list, too, amazing scenery. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Thanks for posting Andy as it was enjoyable to watch. Boy did you look cold at times too. Travelled the route you took a few times now but on a motorbike so its so much easier than how you did it. Regards.
Love this vid, reminds me of my early days of cycling adventures. Hope your still having lots of adventures and doing crazy stuff. Like the music as well. Downloaded the music and it's really good.
Enjoyed your video thanks. Well done toughling it out. You must be made of rugged stuff from good Scottish stock. I hope you staked your claim on Eilean Donan castle while you were there.. was there myself once when I was about your age as a film extra on my student holidays. I recall leaning over the bridge and having to adopt a look of horror as someone was being dropped off it. Ah happy days!
Aah. Wow. That was one of the best "traveling" videos I've seen in a while.. Just simple and so real. Nothing extravagant or some sort of bullshit. Very intimate actually! Next time some gore tex and merino Wool! but it think you got that hahaha Thank you for this!
Love this video.I have to say though, cycling around Loch Lomond in August, if you don't get a good soaking in the rain, the midgies will eat you alive!
Wtg Andy.nice vid and well done. My brother and I did a zigzag tour about 25 years ago starting at Inverness and back To Kirkcaly totalling 700 miles but just doing hostels.
Well done Andy, great effort. You were a brave man going on the roads though.Me and my mate did the Great Glen way off road at the same time as your journey. Bet you will packed thermals for your next trip eh!!!!!lol.
Nice mate great effort. You went for it bro, I would have brought a lot of different kit but you handled the elements like a boss. I especially enjoyed your riding drunk :)
Am planning on doing LEJOG in July next year, and although I'm a Brit I bloody HATE the cold, cold being anything below 15c. Am saving up hard for the most amount of merino wool I can afford and a 4 season sleeping bag which *should* stop me from shivering all night. Yes it seems OTT to a lot of hardened people who can hack cooler temperatures but I have Reynaulds and there's nothing harder than getting on the bike when your feet and hands have been white/blue all night in a tent. Am hoping the weather is a tad warmer when we head in July ;)
fair play man that looked a great trip. me favourite part was you singing i want to ride my bicycle after a few drams. class. also your a ringer for beck hansen.
Try putting your saddle up a bit if your knees are sore Andy. Sounds like your saddle is too low, and possibly move it forward to where you have a reach without stretching to bars
Andy no doubt a distant memory by now but thanksfor posting as I enjoyed watching it.Looked to be very cold at timesand I hope you aren't an alchi by now
Magic video, But do you not get wet weather gear back home. Really good trip shame it was so wet and cold, this year its been very hot, well highs of 25 with clear blue sky's, hopefully better weather next time your back ( tip for you mudguards and gore jacket) Happy travels.
I'll get dull now!, it's actually an old nautical term where 'Brass Monkeys' were the tripod arrangements that the cannonballs were stacked on a warship, when the temperature dropped sufficiently the brass contracted and the 'balls' would roll off - hence the expression "cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey". The bike is packed and ready, so all that's left is the leavin' of it all..Cheers
Next time, consider a tarp system. Due to the fact that you can set up a small camp fire under the tarp, build thermal walls around you and keep warm. Most importantly, you'll be dry. Btw, epic adventure brother, I'll be going on one like this my self :)
Well done Andy, great tour of Scotland you did there... Not an easy climate to be outdoors is it? Where did you get the mapping software? I make travel films and lack such things in my films...
Great videos dude :D I definitely felt your excitement!! Can you tell me in what month you made this adventure? I'd like to avoid the cold when I ride in Scotland this summer.
Fantastic and well done. Great music choices as well making it a great journey and video. Thanks for sharing it with us and for those pronouncing and political correctness police , naysayers and all naerdowells..there is also two ggs in bugger off.
Hey Andy we watched your video when prepping for our trip o Scotland, we have just uploaded our Scotland Bike Tour video, would love it if you check it out, let us know what you think. Keep Pedaling :-)
A good way to learn is by correcting peoples mistakes, if you don't people end up learning and passing on incorrect information, but yes well done to him it must have been hard as our landscape is very hard to tackle on a bicycle.
You're not going to believe it but I last watched this video about 10 years and for some reason I wanted to watch it again. I kept trying to find it find it find it, and finally found this video again.
Great Film and Stunning Scenery - Loved it

you are -have been- a genius !!!!
Nice one, I'm off on a similar trip starting in Feb 2015!!..
Isn't it really cold there during this time of year?
Absolutely 'brass monkey', but I have the time and its the present, so here goes. Kia Ora..
Chris Brady :D 'brass monkey', nice term.:D So I'll better travel the highlands in April.
Chris Brady Never knew that, cool!
Really enjoyed that. "I love Scotch" LOL
Good job bro!
Damn, I can tell it's freezing there. Your nose is bright red in every shot haha.
I'll be doing the same in May, but slightly different route
Next time, consider a tarp system. Due to the fact that you can set up a small camp fire under the tarp, build thermal walls around you and keep warm. Most importantly, you'll be dry. Btw, epic adventure brother, I'll be going on one like this my self :)

Loving the videos. I recently did a cycling tour like you and created a video vlog on my channel. You might like it :).
Hey Andy we watched your video when prepping for our trip o Scotland, we have just uploaded our Scotland Bike Tour video, would love it if you check it out, let us know what you think. Keep Pedaling :-)
I recommend functional underwear mate "D
Loch Lomond is pronounced "Low -mond"
picky!!!! what about saying "well done you young man for getting out there and doing!!"
My thoughts exactly!
A good way to learn is by correcting peoples mistakes, if you don't people end up learning and passing on incorrect information, but yes well done to him it must have been hard as our landscape is very hard to tackle on a bicycle.
comb your hair!
