This happened to me today. I was so upset when I still got the error message after I cleaned out all the thread in the bobbin area. I called my dealership repair person and he said that I need to bring it to the shop:😢 Your video was the first one to show when I searched RUclips to see if I can fix the problem myself. I figure I have nothing to lose. Your relaxed attitude about the problem has calmed my nerves quite a bit! Thanks for the good video.
❤❤❤❤❤huge shoutout to YOU! Was making some patches, binge watching your videos… got a thread sensor error on my pr655 😢😢😢😢😮 found your video thankfully…😃😃😃😃😃😃 it worked, perfectly!! Ty, Ty, Ty!
What a great learning experience. Yep when a birdnest happens underneath, majority of the time something isn't threaded correctly from the spool to the needle.
Becky, I did the same thing with my Brother PR620 6-needle, it's old but works great. I was having problems and checked everything else first but the simplest one, the thread path. I had trouble awhile back when my bobbin case broke. Dropped too many times. I ordered one and also bought one from my dealer. I put the one from my dealer in, got the tension adjusted but the thread was being cut too short and came out of the needle every time. I was ready to take it in and decided to put in the extra case I bought, and it worked perfect. The case my dealer gave me was the wrong one. Makes you feel good when you can trouble shoot yourself and save some $$.
Good for you! Yes, once you understand the mechanics of these machines...what makes them tick...you can save yourself so much time and trouble. The very last thing I want is a home visit by my tech or worse yet, to have to take it in for maintenance.
Love youtube! Becky thank you so much for showing when something goes wrong and how to fix it. I had issues with my 6 needle and couldn't figure out what was wrong. :) Watching you clean and then re-threading. I cleaned and didn't re-thread and moment I did my machine started to stitch like a dream.
Glad you got it working. There's nothing more irritating than a machine that doesn't run properly. Glad you could solved the issue without a technician.
Thank you for another great educational video. I have a Brother PR650W, learning with every project. Some time ago I viewed a YT video where the sewist used cotton pipe cleaners, I bought two packs and use one each time I start a new project to "sweep" out the thread ends clipped with the thread cutter in my sewing machine and now the 6 needle... Request, please: Will you PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make a YT tutorial on how to change thread colors/needles (I watched every one of your videos and learned more) both by the spools switch icon and the "three pages" as I call it, plus the "magic wand"? I must have a learning problem 'cause I just don't get it. Thank you so very much for educating all of us.
Forgive additional comment, but in the middle of finishing special gift on the 6 needle machine, it stopped, displayed the message "change to a larger frame!" This was at 3am and everything I tried did not fix the problem or clear the error message. I called dealer tech when store opened, he said "check / tighten the screws that hold the frame in place" I did, they were very slightly loose, tightened the screws and completed my project. I asked why that would cause an error message? He said that sensors are built into the "sockets" that hold the screws and tell the machine which frame is in use... I almost developed a love/hate relationship with that machine. The learning curve is huge for me. Just sharing. Thanks to all for "listening". BTW, all tips / tricks with this machine will be so greatly appreciated. Thanks to all.
I have a Janome Memory Craft 500e Embroidery machine - I can't count the number of times over the years I've used my Birdnest repair set- it is amazing ! Thanks so much for your tips and great video.
THANK YOU!! Will tackle my timing error with confidence! Seriously, good explanation and great video. Glad to know I'm not alone in messing up on my 10 needle!
Becky, thank you so much for your information, learned more about my new 6 needle machine from you (got at Houston Quilt Show) then from website, youtube, ect. I really appreciate all you do!!! Please continue to make videos like this. 🤩🤩🤩
I had a major birds nest and got the main motor error.. I finally got it fixed.. now my threads keep coming loose when its starts to sew on each color change.. very annoying... not sure if the birds nest is the cause, but it wasn't doing it before... I have a pr650 six needle
Love that Birds Nest Tool ❤️❤️❤️. I’ve sliced off many, many projects over the years😂😂😂🤪. I may not use it for months, then It seems like I use it every day until my embroidery karma evens out!
If you turn the machine off... you need to take the whole top plate off.. not turn it sideways.. with the machine off you can slide that blade over to clean under it..
Hi there, just found this video. Thanks for all the tips. I would love to get my hands on one of those 10 needle machines to start my own little store. Do you have to do a lot of tension adjustments with that machine? I saw the 10 dials on the top of the machine. I know I sound stupid but tension always freaks me out a bit.
Once I set the tension on the dials, I've never had to fiddle with it ever again. You should just see 3 of the lines above the rim of the base that the cap sits in and it's perfect. I highly recommend this machine. I just love the easy user interface. It's the same as the Baby Lock 10-needle but just a bit less expensive.
Do you know where you can get one of the spacers in your bobbin are on your 10 needle. Also I would like one of the screw drivers you use for your 10 needle.
Are you referring to the spring? Look for 'bobbin spring size L' You might have to either get more springs than you need or a new bobbin case altogether. amzn.to/3PCXLQH
Hi there! Thanks for the video! I was curious if you would share the “duster brush” that you use? I like the look of it! The one I have, has these little bristles that eventually end up getting stuck in my machine while cleaning. Thanks so much!
Can you show oiling your PR1055. I have trouble with the oil container that came with the machine. If you use a different oil container could you tell me.
I don't use the one that came with the machine either. I love this one. amzn.to/3b50fIT I did a blog post on where to oil too: powertoolswiththread.com/2021/05/25/where-exactly-does-that-drop-of-oil-need-to-go-machine-technician-advice/
Loved it when you said you could perform an appendectomy with the blade!! You are so funny!!😊 As usual, you showed us proper use as to how to use the tool and what sound the machine should make! Such great information!!🥰
Thank for this video. I need help. My story is I took the small screw off the cutting knife in the bobbin area; nest lost that small screw so had to order from Baby lock. Now after putting it back together several time the cutter won't cut. All I get is wiper error. Any one know what I should do next?
The wiper error relates to the arm (wiper) that pulls the thread tails up into the bar behind the needles. That means that it tried to pull thread up and it got hung up somehow - usually because of a trim error and the thread didn't cut properly. Once you fix the trim issue and re-thread the needle, the wiper issue should resolve itself. If not, turn the machine off and on again to clear the error and it should be fine.
Did you ever test your new stabilizer from sulky you were talking about a while back? Just wondering if you liked it and if it worked better or the same in the scan n cut.
Thank you ssssoooo very much for this video! When you said, "This is normal, so don't start freaking out!" I thought, "Oh my goodness! She's talking to me!" 🤣😂Again, thank you so much!! So very much appreciated!! 🥰
Omg!!! I'm still laughing at the donkey... On one of your older videos you mentioned if you have an embroidery machine.. You need a bird's nest kit. I picked one up.. I had to reach for it once.. And I said.. She's right!! Thanks for all your tips!!
Not sure I would clean out the bobbin case this way. The plate needs to come fully off to prevent damage to the plate like this lady is doing. Removing the plate helps you to look inside and see it there is any other thread out of there and oil the bobbin case daily.
I have a prs100 and for some weird reason it would start embroidery and stop within seconds saying check upper and bottom bobbin, the upper seem fine when i look under the fabric it’s a slight nest in different errors; i checked the bobbin, cleaned the trim how you did in this video and I’m still getting that stoppage.. I’m not sure what to do next do you think it’s the timing knife?
I'm sorry but I don't understand "it's a slight nest in different errors' under the fabric. Also, check to see if it works with a long bobbin tail vs. a short one that has been cut by the knife. If you pull the tail to about 4 inches and start the machine and it catches fine, but it won't after a regular trim, then the little spring that holds the thread tight to be cut is loose and should be replaced.
@@PowerToolsWithThread the machine start stitching when it start off the design than stop immediately when it’s about to speed up with a “check upper or bottom bobbin message”, it’s not catching the bobbin underneath, it’s bunching underneath not showing the bottom bobbin thread on fabric, under the fabric is all the top thread color i use instead of showing a good pulled tension.
AT LEAST YOU SHOW YOUR VIEWERS THE STEPS TO TAKE TO FIX A MESS. YOU DON'T FIX IT OFF CAMERA. HOW IS KEITH COMING ALONG WITH HIS PROJECTS? OR IS HE TOO BUSY WITH THE SEAM RIPPERS, ETC.?
His seam rippers have been on hold because of the heat. His lathe is in the outdoor non-air conditioned garage. It's been over 100 for weeks now so he can't be in there too long.
Thank you for adding the last part where you checked the threading. That was my problem too.

Thank you so much for this video. I know you could have edited it out but this will be great if and when it ever happens to me.
What a great learning experience. Yep when a birdnest happens underneath, majority of the time something isn't threaded correctly from the spool to the needle.
Thanks for the running repairs tips. I have a PR-620 which has had bird nests and didn't know about removing the bobbin housing plate.
I wish the dealers had a class on repairs. Unfortunately, you can't show a repair unless you have an issue and that is so infrequent.

What kind of hoop is that?

Your sweet baby needs to go into the repair shop. Fixing that is beyond my level of expertise.
I recently got a Wiper error. What do you do for that error?
The wiper error relates to the arm (wiper) that pulls the thread tails up into the bar behind the needles.
