    Also, Blogstatic doesn't seem to have the $39 a year plan anymore. Any idea what happened?

      Hi Jacobo, blogstatic updated the prices since I made the video. The 2 main reasons:
      1\ people where abusing the free plan;
      2\ blogstatic is now a better platform than when they started and decided to update the prices to reflect that.

    Can i migrate my audience and my work from substack to ghost in future if I wanted to or when I earn enough from substack that I can buy a ghost plan?

    • @thestackjunction
      @thestackjunction  2 года назад +1

      Yes, you can export posts, and subscribers and keep their subscriptions active when you move from Substack to Ghost.
      Go to settings, scroll to the end of the page, look for "Export your data", and click on "Create new export", then download the data.
      The next part would be on Ghost: clicking on "Members", Gear icon on the top right, and "Import members".
      It's also possible to import your posts from Substack to Ghost :)

      @@thestackjunction so is this feature available on every platform?

    • @thestackjunction
      @thestackjunction  2 года назад

      I'm *not sure* about all, but it's becoming more and more common for platforms to allow importing and exporting of contents.
      EDIT: *not sure*

    Is converkit better than substack and how does it compare to ghost?

    • @thestackjunction
      @thestackjunction  2 года назад

      Ghost: The most complete solution. Ghost has good SEO, is easy to use and is okay for newsletters. So, it's the perfect Substack replacement for blogging and sending newsletters IMO.
      Convertkit: better if you only want a newsletter (like if you already use WordPress), they have the better newsletter tools of the 3.
      Substack: would be better if you want to use to publish a mix of content (blog, newsletter and podcast), this way you can post everything at the same place potentially for free. But is bad for SEO

      @@thestackjunction How much time will it take me to grow on SubStack as a beginner? And also I have found out about Hubpages, is it good? Like does it have better SEO, Editor than substack?

    • @thestackjunction
      @thestackjunction  2 года назад

      Growing on Substack depends on several factors, from the experience of others: Substack growth comes mostly from social media. So, if you already have a big following, it could be much faster than someone starting out.
      I haven't tested Hubpages, but I looked at their website for 5 minutes and wasn't impressed.
      As a general rule: hosted publishing platforms like Hubpages or Substack, if you don’t use a custom domain, you don’t get any SEO benefits. And you are essentially building their SEO by publishing in their domain.
      Some hosted platforms are better than other, but the rule is: No custom domain = no SEO benefits to you.

      @@thestackjunction I'm a student, dependent on my parents for money and I can't afford to spend money on these platforms. I'm a complete newbie and I have never ever started a blog. I want to start a blog so which website would you recommend me which is free and have comment section for interaction between the audience. Like if you know any website which would be perfect for me, please tell me brother because it would be a GREAT help!

      In that case, Substack is your best option. It's free and has a comment section. Substack isn't perfect, but fits your budget and requirements. Hope this helps :)

    What is the simplest platform to get started on? By 'simple' I mean no necessity to link to fb and other social sites. Just register, load your initial contct list one email at a time. Then load first newsletter and send.

    • @robharris5467
      @robharris5467 2 года назад

      An initial free plan needed as well.

    • @thestackjunction
      @thestackjunction  2 года назад +1

      (Short answer)
      The simplest platform with a free plan I would recommend is ConvertKit.
      (long answer)
      To me Ghost is by far the best Substack alternative, but it only has a free plan using DigitalPress which have some limitations.
      That's why I recommended ConvertKit in the short answer above.
      ConvertKit is amazing to send newsletters and has a free plan up to 1k subscribers. At the start I understand that you need a budget-friendly decision and CK has that.
      But if you use ConvertKit instead of Substack you have to create a website elsewhere. Substack is a hybrid (newsletter+blog) and ConvertKit is newsletter-only.
      That's why Ghost is the best directly replacement for Substack.
      On Ghost you can create a newsletter with ease and also use it for blogging. And Ghost is much better for SEO, this way you don't need to link to social media sites like you mention.
      If you consider that you can have a newsletter + blog, 9 USD/ month for Ghost (Pro) is good value.
      Summaryzing:
      - "easiest" option for newsletter with a free plan: ConvertKit
      - The best option and my recommendation: Ghost CMS.
      - Beginner-friendly route: Use ConvertKit and move to Ghost when you can justify paying for it
      Let me know if this helped you :)

      @@thestackjunction Thanks. I'll take a look now. Is there some newsletter on Covertkit that I could take a look at? Friends and family will open and read my efforts but the contacts I would have most chance of monetising are not going to open anything that doesn't look interesting and professionally presented. BTW did you know that Greg Gutfeld promoted Substack on his show a few days ago? That's what got me looking for a platform. As I recall Greg was talking about a content provider who was having a hard time getting his stuff out through normal media - print etc. The print media in my country (New Zealand) has lurched heavily to the Left and their various columnists can have any nonsense printed with impunity. Thanks again.

      Look at the Extra Focus newsletter using ConvertKit (screenshot here: share.cleanshot.com/MozlAh)
      I didn't know Gutfeld promoted Substack.
      Substack makes it super easy to write and publish. That's why the platform is so attractive. It's almost like a trap, IMO.
      They make it so easy that people get used to it, and then they are scared of moving to another place. Then they keep paying 10% commissions which are much, much more expensive than other platforms that are better (like Ghost which is much better for SEO and still super easy) - yes, I might be biased towards Ghost has I use it for more than 1 year and love it.
