Comment so based I got to pin it. Maybe your interpretation of Salaquine and some other events gives the mod author a bit too much leeway, but your observations are fascinating. Everytime I cover one of these mods I feel like I am adding to much unnecessary detail in the video (hence why they end up so long), only to then upload them and find comments like yours showing me that there is always more to talk about and different ways to look at things.
@@cotho. thank you. i think you do a good job showing the important parts without spoiling everything. people really have to play them to get the full experience. these mods have depth, like good novels, not school children's essays (cough bethesda), so there is no hope to cover everything anyways. maids2, for me, was like a bad break-up, the first time i finished it. the lack of closure, familiar faces gone, still confused. months later i decided to revisit it, cuz matari still haunted me and i don't like being scared by a woman (i know). it felt completely different this time. i knew when shits hit fans so i was prepared. i knew where the tedious dialogues were and how to skip through. (tangent for modders: skyrim/oblivion's dialogue system is not suited for your enormous creativity, unless you do it the enderal way.) most importantly i knew her endgame, so i knew my goal from the beginning: to resist her influence, that is, not to feel provoked or tempted or scared, but to stay stoic. this time i carefully chose what to say, and even skipped dialogues deliberately. i played the ultimate mind-game. (yes, with an npc, it's not being a weeb, it's called roll-playing.) she was still in charge cuz she set the game and i chose to engage, plus i didn't know every path and outcome, so it was still fun. by playing a character as calm and prescient and manipulative, i started to understand her, and pitied her. yes i got possessed by resisting. maybe that was all just me, or intentional by the author, i found closure anyways. salaquine won't succeed: she has a habit of failing when it matters, maybe due to her nature. she won't stop trying either, as long as the author keeps ... well rip
I had an idea while driving yesterday. This mod should have a secret, C0da ending. When you find “Kasia” in your respective afterlife, instead of stabbing her with the Void Sword, if you drop the Void Sword and put on the Amulet of Silence that Purity put on you, it should unlock new dialogue where you tell Matari you aren’t playing her games anymore and it’s time for you to talk. You (the player) has chosen to disarm yourself, like a certain Dunmer, before facing a Numidium. You use the fact that her own nature is self-contradictory to break down her spirit, and do to her what she planned to do to you. Using the synchronicity created by your reliving her memories to instead Mantle her. To top it all off the final line could be “Now we’re speaking the same language,” before you get the notification (Amulet of Silence has been removed) and Matari’s head comes off like the lady in Beyond Reach.
Wait a minute... Desann?!? That "overgrown kovakian monkey-lizard" from Jedi Outcast? Who was a Dark Jedi, had scantily clothed woman as a sidekick, and looked like Argonian, but 25-30% taller? I remember that guy! He also had face markings, quite similar in shape to the ones on DeSann's face! Interesting... 🤔

Its a seriously great mod specially with how much it knows about the lore, but like you said, one's enjoyment of the story centers around Matari- and tbh im not completely sold on her. Similar beat to Vigilant: higher being wants to use you, get you to some place and then ascend to an even higher status. However Vigilant is framed as a classic (if grittier) elder scrolls story format where you clash with a god repeatedly and also enter their plane of existance, which masks the under the surface the fact that Molag Bal is trying to play you. And it makes sense that Molag Bal can do all of this and return if hes defeated bc daedric prince Here it spoils the surprise to early, and as a result it feels kinda frustrating to know you're dancing to her tune but having to grit your teeth and take it, which includes everyone dropping like flies and shes super monotone about everything which only adds to it. Her powers also kinda over the place like you said. We dont even permanently defeat her or seal her away. I think this is one of those situations where an author was just too enamoured with their villain to the detriment of the story Obviously i enjoyed the video and im hoping for more, its just the antagonist that didnt quite click with me. Two questions tho -what was with the dream where you get married early on? -the bits where it cuts to your character, what house mod or location are those?

The mod author seems too enamored with their villain to the detriment of the story.

11:56 Okay I feel the need to correct this. I have actually played the Mythic Dawn creation and to say that they have an active Oblivion Gate is misleading. First off, the Oblivion Gate was not one that was actually summoned during the Crisis. It's the fragments of several gates cobbled together to create the physical structure. Even then, the gate itself is not active. It only becomes active once you finish the first quest. And this was a VERY specific case that likely can't be repeated easily. Second- this isn't really anything new here. In Dragonborn, Miraak is attempting to escape Apocrypha back to Solsthiem which should be impossible if Martin sacrifice truly separated Oblivion and Nirn. Hell, in Skyrim, the Daedra can still influence and even summon themselves to Nirn (see: Nocturnal and the Thieves' Guild Quests and A Night to Remember). And even further back- The Shivering Isles DLC contradicts this since we know Shivering Isles is canon and The Champion became Sheogorath and is ruling the Shivering Isles. This doesn't work whether the DLC comes before or after the main story: Before- Sheogorath shouldn't be able to return to his plane of Oblivion. After- Can't get to the Isles in the first place. I know this sounds very nerdy and dick-sucky but I feel like with as much hate as Bethesda has earned- an effort is needed to correct it when it's not.
You compared Matari to The Black Owl, but as presented and all the hype and how your enjoyment of the mod revolves around her, she feels more like Ja'zel, from Glenmoril. This is both flattering and not, though I'm sure that will come up when Glenmoril 1.0 is finally out, eventually. Great vid, btw!

My favorite whack mod. It has no right to be as good as it is. The suggestive stuff included, is suprisingly tame and there isnt all that much either. I expected it to be wayyy worse.
48:28 I have to disagree. Mantling is described as "walk like them until they must walk like you", but it's not that simple. Martin Septim only transformed into an avatar of Akatosh, he didn't *become* the deity. And the bard certainly didn't mantle Molag Bal, he had nowhere near the power to do that - Molag Bal all but consumed the part of the bard that became Bal. Now, I haven't played Maids in its entirety, but I doubt mantling is what Serenity did, it's usually brought up in the context of mortals attempting to ascend - for example, some claim that whoever is/makes up Talos became him by mantling Lorkhan.
You are 100% on the money with this one. Idk why but I kinda glanced over that section without a second thought and kinda dropped the ball when it came to finding examples of manteling. Although some still believe than manteling CAN take many forms such as Martin and Akatosh (both having to give up their powers for Nirn), it is wayyy more likely that Martin just manifested himself as an avatar of Akatosh using the amulet of kings. Don't know much about mantling in offical lore other than u take their position and replacing them. But in the vigilant mod that molag bal is confirmed to be the bard by the bard himself narrating that he is molag bal in one of the ending. You can also confront molag bal on if he was a mortal once. He confess that he was.

But to address your point, the bard calling himself Molag Bal happens in the worst ending, and it's not literal - the bard calls himself that to draw a parallel between his actions and the traits/domain of Molag Bal; basically, it's a very dramatic way of the bard calling himself a piece of shit. As for Molag Bal admitting to being mortal once, it refers to his past as the Dreugh King in the previous kalpa. When he says that it was so long he doesn't remember, he's actually telling the truth, it's just a feeling, since Daedric Princes cannot overcome the kalpa resets on their own (which is actually the reason for why the Vicn trilogy happens)
I think the problem is that the mod spends a lot of time introducing new interesting NPCs and then just killing them or making them disappear (all the citizens of the new town, or the members of the factions) Kasia and Lilith included...
The prison part was annoying. Thankfully I just dumped my gear onto Sophia and had her glitch into my cell. And as you can probably tell, I don’t fight fair😈
Did not expect a video with 2k views to be this well thought out, developed, and thorough review for a mod named Maids II: Deception. Befitting the mod as well, since that too was surprisingly good. Makes me wonder how much better it could have been without the strange anime-esque writing at times and the inherent horniness (mod, not the video).
I'd also like to posit some ideas. techically, we don't know the names of all of the lesser primordial spirits, and many of them may not have had names, so Matari may have been such an entity, one that remained factionless among the spirits, thus the designation the Dwemer gave her of, Anomaly, because she is aberrant. And my problem with the lore issues in this mod, at least the way you presented them since I haven't played it myself is that they aren't well explained. they easily could be explained in a way that would make sense, but the Author lost the project before they could be answered.
Donno if you have heard of this mod, but a mod called Akavir-Curse of the immortals just came out with a 2.0 release set in the Tsaesci kingdom on Akavir. Its an entirely new land and language is in Russian but has an English translation. I played it years ago but a 2.0 release came out. Any chance you might try it?
I have heard good things about this mod, so I'll probably integrate it into my build at some point. But I'll have to put a lot of work into it to make it fit.

Glad you liked it. I fell in love with it when I played it. I don't care if some TES lore-nazi doesn't deem it "compatible". We're talking about a game where the lore bends at every turn. That being said, I really felt for the NPCs encountered in this mod. Something incredibly rare. Good story, combats, dynamics, gear, locations, interactions, development and I could continue. A mod anyone should try at least once.
this really is one of those hidden gem type mods, presents itself almost completely as a piece of coomer bait content on the nexus, an already pretty coomer-heavy community (atleast for bethesda games), you wouldn't know how much there was to this unless you actually played it
powerful characters not using their abilities earlier is not a plot hole. at best it's an inconsistency. you could make a case that she wanted you to believe that just to feel hope.
I finally watched through this video and decided that its not my cup of tea. The horniness and the lore dumping just isn't fun. It kind of reminds me of a bunch of infamous quest mods for Fallout 4 which claim to be lore friendly but they end up literally retconning multiple previous fallout games. Also they have a strip club in a highly radiated hellhole.

48:28 I have to disagree. Mantling is described as "walk like them until they must walk like you", but it's not that simple. Martin Septim only transformed into an avatar of Akatosh, he didn't *become* the deity. And the bard certainly didn't mantle Molag Bal, he had nowhere near the power to do that - Molag Bal all but consumed the part of the bard that became Bal. Now, I haven't played Maids in its entirety, but I doubt mantling is what Serenity did, it's usually brought up in the context of mortals attempting to ascend - for example, some claim that whoever is/makes up Talos became him by mantling Lorkhan.
You are 100% on the money with this one. Idk why but I kinda glanced over that section without a second thought and kinda dropped the ball when it came to finding examples of manteling. Although some still believe than manteling CAN take many forms such as Martin and Akatosh (both having to give up their powers for Nirn), it is wayyy more likely that Martin just manifested himself as an avatar of Akatosh using the amulet of kings. Don't know much about mantling in offical lore other than u take their position and replacing them. But in the vigilant mod that molag bal is confirmed to be the bard by the bard himself narrating that he is molag bal in one of the ending. You can also confront molag bal on if he was a mortal once. He confess that he was.

But to address your point, the bard calling himself Molag Bal happens in the worst ending, and it's not literal - the bard calls himself that to draw a parallel between his actions and the traits/domain of Molag Bal; basically, it's a very dramatic way of the bard calling himself a piece of shit. As for Molag Bal admitting to being mortal once, it refers to his past as the Dreugh King in the previous kalpa. When he says that it was so long he doesn't remember, he's actually telling the truth, it's just a feeling, since Daedric Princes cannot overcome the kalpa resets on their own (which is actually the reason for why the Vicn trilogy happens)
I think the problem is that the mod spends a lot of time introducing new interesting NPCs and then just killing them or making them disappear (all the citizens of the new town, or the members of the factions) Kasia and Lilith included...

Did not expect a video with 2k views to be this well thought out, developed, and thorough review for a mod named Maids II: Deception. Befitting the mod as well, since that too was surprisingly good. Makes me wonder how much better it could have been without the strange anime-esque writing at times and the inherent horniness (mod, not the video).
I'd also like to posit some ideas. techically, we don't know the names of all of the lesser primordial spirits, and many of them may not have had names, so Matari may have been such an entity, one that remained factionless among the spirits, thus the designation the Dwemer gave her of, Anomaly, because she is aberrant. And my problem with the lore issues in this mod, at least the way you presented them since I haven't played it myself is that they aren't well explained. they easily could be explained in a way that would make sense, but the Author lost the project before they could be answered.

Donno if you have heard of this mod, but a mod called Akavir-Curse of the immortals just came out with a 2.0 release set in the Tsaesci kingdom on Akavir. Its an entirely new land and language is in Russian but has an English translation. I played it years ago but a 2.0 release came out. Any chance you might try it?

this really is one of those hidden gem type mods, presents itself almost completely as a piece of coomer bait content on the nexus, an already pretty coomer-heavy community (atleast for bethesda games), you wouldn't know how much there was to this unless you actually played it

I finally watched through this video and decided that its not my cup of tea. The horniness and the lore dumping just isn't fun. It kind of reminds me of a bunch of infamous quest mods for Fallout 4 which claim to be lore friendly but they end up literally retconning multiple previous fallout games. Also they have a strip club in a highly radiated hellhole.
