  • Ray's Rants Podcast - Do You Remember? Do you remember.... How many times have you heard that over the years? Do you remember the old Morris Minor cars? Do you remember vending machines where you could buy chocolate bars? In this episode, I look back at things we might, or might not, remember.

I remember as a boy in the 70's going to the swimming baths in the freezing middle of winter and coming out smelling of chlorine and still with wet hair, going to the "Klix" vending machine for a hot chocolate. It was either five or ten pence, and we used to walk home hugging the little plastic cup with it's volcanic contents.
If we were really lucky you could get a Dundee biscuit too, they were as big as your head in those days!
    Happy memories.

Great to hear your voice, like a radio broadcast, I can see this becoming popular for "older people" who like to reminisce and moan, you cant beat a good moan! You fixed an old radio for me many years ago, it's still going strong, all the best.

Hello Ray, i remember Popeye and Micky Mouse but my favorite... Road Runner and Wiley E Coyote🙂 the candy shaped like a hart... I don't visit the candystore much... maybe once a month a snickers from the supermarket...
This is a thing! Hearing those things from years ago... I LOVE IT!!! Born in the 70's for me it was a great time to grew up... the 80's and 90's were also fun... The world was more relaxed as i see it... Yes there were things going on... like now... but how do i say it... i liked the time before 2000.
More pirate stations on the radio... much more fun on the radio, much beter music. I like 60's 70's 80's music. Not what is produced now.
Things that are now forbidden were in that time normal... burning things? No problem... today a fine of €140,-
And no mobile phones!!! everyone is using a mobile phone... talking with eachother? No everybody is watching on their screen...

@@g4nsj I remember the Pirate Radio Ships, up here I could hear North Sea, Carline, and on occasions some Peace Radio Ship. Luxemburg was a bit of a struggle, but then on my tiny transistor radio it was a miracle I heard anything. I had periods of silence where I heard nothing at all.
I remember the Pirates being shut down and the BBC advertising Radio One, the station for the young. It was ok-ish when it started, but it went sour very quickly, with more and more yap instead of music!
Real radio died with the closing of the Pirates. They played music that you would otherwise have never heard!
If it were not for the pirates, some bands would have sunk without trace.
Shame they were still not around, we might have more, better bands around.
With a lot better music and a lot more varied.

I remember a Milk vending machine with a few flavours of milk in it. It stood at a crossroads at Keith, just at the bottom of the high street. I last saw it in the early 70s. Now there is just a mark where it used to stand. It was run by the local dairy, behind Keith Grammar School. Yes, I went there! The RAC vans used to sit just up from there at the corner Morris Minor vans, the old Picture House used to be there, no sign of it now either.
Used to see a lot of chewing gum vending machines, gob stopper machines around. Not so much these days!
