    Good review Kris, thanks!
    I still believe there was value in the Sensus screen with all the functions buttons ("swipe right one"), which could be positioned as desired, instead of only the worded menu in Settings which will take a long time to find, not to mention unsafe while driving.

    Thanks for the review. I pre-ordered one of these and am still on the fence about keeping it because of range, but I really want the Google OS. Also I realize it's a bit more work but the whole world would thank you greatly if you edited out or reduced the volume when you say Hey Google. This video set off my devices so many times I had to stop watching until I was in a room without a Google device.

    Good to see tech companies making software for auto manufactures as most of the ones that auto makers include are not that great, but it is another way for the tech giants to collect more data from the driver.

    I enjoy your content, thanks for putting it out there! It would be great if when you use the "hey Google" command in your videos that you mute the audio and overlay an onscreen text saying "hey Google". It always sets my Google home speakers off and dips the volume on the TV and I have to tell my home speaker to stop listening. It's a frustration I have with lots of RUclips reviewers, unfortunately not really thinking about the environments that its consumers are watching content in. Otherwise, great content - thank you!

After I see this UI and the major regressions in CarPlay and wired audio, it looks like it will have to be a used 2021 model. Sadly.

      @guseks8413 3 года назад

      @@fmsantoscar That is not true what so ever. They are known to make updates or facelifts about every 5 years. The XC90 got theirs in 2019 for MY20, V/S90 got their last year for MY21. I don't know why they went with a updated sensus system with "full android integration" in those cars, perhaps they did not think it was ready. Everything you said is right. The new system is very limited so far. The USB ports are only for charging. You cannot connect your phone (iPhone at least) via USB port to the system. It doesn’t support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto by now. You only can reproduce compressed music via Bluetooth connection, even with the Bowers&Wilkins upgrade. It’s very frustrating when you discover all this things after purchasing a new car, which is my case!!

And with the LED lights its not a big deal. So please Volvo - make an update that allows extra lights.

    I have a Volvo xc40 recharge in the UK. At best I can say Android automotive is a work in progress but actually, it’s awful. I expected that being Google it would be a ton better than the petrol xc40 I had before but no, it’s just as bad but in different ways. Actually it lacks key features which makes it worse. First, Google maps doesn’t include speed camera warnings which the non-Android versions have. This is a basic requirements and given that this can be found on regular google maps, is unacceptable. I literally have to set a map destination on my iPhone using Apple Maps or Waze and run it concurrently. Ridiculous! It’s also massively buggy - my Google maps keeps recalculating the route even if I follow what it’s telling me to do. I can be driving in a straight line and it’ll recalculate - and the recalculated route is the same as I was following. The number of apps is really poor. Don’t think you’re getting anything like an android phone. No BBC Sounds app but you do get Canal+. Well that’s useful….not! Also the “ok google” is buggy and underdeveloped: try saying “hey google, turn off one pedal drive”. It works but then barks out an error message. When setting a destination I’ve had the google assistant go into a loop of asking “what value” (clearly computer code language) and when I say “hey google, play LBC radio”, it tries to stream it which it can’t because I don’t have a radio streaming app. It’s a car. Duh. It has a radio built in. It really is utter garbage and although reviewers keep saying “they’ll add apple carplay” and “it can be updated”, the truth is it’s not! As of late May 2020 as I write this, it hasn’t been updated since December 2021 which to me, says they’re absolutely not working on it and if they are, it’s the B-Team. Volvo need to ask for their money back or get it fixed and until then, think twice before buying. Oh…and I love the car. It’s awesome but if I’d know how horrid android car is, I may well have thought twice.

      Yeah, that’s nice. With a lots of different views. (Especially if you have the Virtual Cockpit option, which I think Kris lacks.) You can even have satellite view. *However, the navigation and traffic information is not provided by Google. Only the map.* So it’s like a overlay, like Tesla and a handful others uses. That’s not as good as Google in my opinion. I think both Audi and Tesla is better at estimating battery percentage on arrival though, for the time being.. The Volkswagen brands are also able to give a very precise range estimate (GOM) in km/miles. Mach E does this very well too, from what I’ve seen in early tests.
      Does the e-tron work with Alexa for voice recognition in US/UK yet? That would bring it one step closer, but I think everyone _not_ using a fully integrated Google Automotive system will struggle to keep up. Like Tesla, they still don’t have waypoints and route alternatives in their navigation system..

      @KrisRifa  3 года назад +1

      Yes I have virtual cockpit and a data sim, so I have satellite view. It is not provided by Google. Like others Google doesn’t own its own satellites so they also buy the images. Audi navigation is very good, but it’s no Google maps 😑
