I always loved and admired this man.
He is very clever, he is « Le maître du théâtre de l’absurde ».
That’s so true !
Thank you Mr. Ionesco. Thank you radio Canada.

My favorite subtitle was when around 3:49 he says in French 'I soon get bored with others around' and that's translated much more philosophically as 'I feel more lonely with others around' :-)

Pourquoi ? "

He seems to have a certain humanity, despite his self-declared misanthropy, knowing his writing style, I always imagined him dry and repellent

He he he. You can't judge a writer by the covers of his books...

Taught french in high school from 1936 to 1938. In 1938 began my doctoral thesis at the sorbonne. Also Worked for a publishing company. Adopted the style of a puppet show. The theatre for him must be simplified and grotesque. To him the world seems grotesque, absurd, ridiculous, and painful . His theatre is called the theatre of absurdity, it's our existence itself I find unimaginable, unthinkable. Puppets communicate with each other, that are foolish and insane. Presents it comically. The world is comedy because it's ridiculous. It's comical because it's tragic.

A Romanian man who, with little words, strays from his heritage and praises his French upbringing. Sad to see this internalized shame for his own roots.
