    Another option that I learned from one of Donna's videos was chopping the old clay and putting it in a food processor with your conditioner, then hit the pulse button a few times, to get it going.

      True, Miss Robin...absolutely true. I just want to get my clay going without having to have another device to condition it with, and if all it is is putting a little vaseline or oil into the clay to get it moving...well, it works. But thank you so much for that bit of information!! Sending hugs!! :)

    I have watched every video on conditioning clay that I can find on RUclips BUT...this is the absolute best one ever! Conditioning the scariest thing (next to reducing) in getting started with polymer clay.
    Even if conditioning seems uber elementary to you...this is a really powerful video. Thank you so much.

      WOW!! JUST WOW!! What a fantastic compliment!! And really it was my goal... Like you I have seen videos on conditioning clay...but they never "Show" the process really well. I was hoping I did so here and that it would make a difference. Thank you....so sincerely and with humbleness in the heart...thank you!! Big hugs your way!! :)

    Hi Laura.
    First, I want to tell you how much I love your videos! Thank you for all the ideas 😊
    As I was watching this one on conditioning old hard blocks of clay, it made me wonder if you had ever tried a food processor. I had an old one, and got a new one. I decided to keep the old one for clay, and was so glad I did!
    I have been amazed how fast and easy it is!
    I put a few drops of mineral oil in with the hard clay and turned it on. In no time, it was so soft and workable, I couldn't believe it!
    I have rheumatoid arthritis, so that's HUGE for me. I love my clay, and this makes it possible to keep working with it 😊
    Thank you so much to see all the different things you can condition with. I had no idea there were so many options.

      Awwww, Miss Taunna!! Thank you so much for this!! And actually, No. I have never used a food processor...keep thinking one of these days I will get one, and yet...LOLOL!! I either put it off, forget, etc. I really should get one...something to put on my list of to do's and to gets... And WOW!! Thrilled this worked so well with using your mineral oil too!! I love there are options out there when it comes to the conditioning of clay and that you don't always have to use a name brand conditioner to do so. Sending you my hugs your way!! :)

      Awwwwww.... and thank you for being so kind in your compliment and comment here. I try to cover as much as possible in my videos and get what I know out here. I am human, so sometimes I might miss something once in awhile, and that's hard on the perfectionist in me. LOL!! But I will continue to do my best. I just thank you for letting me know I am making a difference. Big hugs your way, lady!! :)

    Hi, love your videos. Can you do an experiment on how these addictives bake up after they are added? Seems like the cooking ones may brown the clay.

    • @laurajschiller
      @laurajschiller  5 месяцев назад

      Thank you so much! I am thrilled, but you enjoy my videos so much!… As to the additives baking up that I’ve added in I have never had any problems when I have added in the Vaseline or even the baby oil. And the conditioners that have been advertised to work in Polymer Clay I have never had any problems with those either. My only major suggestion when it comes to using either the baby oil or the Vaseline as an additive to soften up your clays is that you use them sparingly. Do not use gobs and not gobs of it… You are most likely get gout in the end and you don’t need that. And just so you know, yes I do use the Vaseline in the solid brick form of Polymer Clay and the baby oil in the liquid Polymer Clay. Again, Never had really any problems in doing so. With this said though, I will put that on my list of videos to do in the future. Again sending you my thanks on your compliment towards my videos and my work here on my channel as well as for the idea of using the additives in Polymer Clay. Sending you my big hugs your way!! 🤗👍🏻❤️

      Oh my goodness!… You are so right! I do laugh at just about everything! And yes, I should not laugh at funerals!🤣😂🤣….this can be such a very dangerous thing for me… And probably why I should avoid funerals in general!! 🤣😂🤣 thank you for your compliment, though lady… This had me laughing today and I absolutely needed it. It is such a huge thing for me to get people to laugh and hopefully give them a little joy… And hopefully I do that for you too! My personality usually runs towards laughter on a regular basis, as well as trying to keep on the windier side of joy… I’m thrilled that you don’t mind that at all… And I’m also glad that you are enjoying my videos as well and that you will continue to do so! Sending you my biggest hugs, always!!🤗👍🏻❤️

    i have put clay in a plastic bag and hit it with a hammer lol, had to add a bit of liquid clay in it and hammer in the bag. doesnt take too long and great if you dont have a machine

    • @laurajschiller
      @laurajschiller  8 месяцев назад

      Yeah, I never really tried that… It’s a good idea, though! Mine does seem to get everywhere. I probably should just put it in a bag and make it easy on myself! Thing for me is though I always using my pasta machine to help condition my clay, kind of makes it nice because then I get a nice slab and I could put it in my deli sheets right away… But it’s a good idea. I have to try that! Thank you for that advice. I definitely will have to do this… Especially if I have a lot of anxiety to work out!🤣😂🤣 which I think for everyone is most every day!!😂🤣😂 sending my biggest hugs lady!🤗❤️👍🏻

    Como limpias tu máquina de pasta sin desarmarla?

    • @laurajschiller
      @laurajschiller  10 месяцев назад

      Thank you for this question!! And that is a good one. I "clean" my pasta machine by running through a piece of white clay, that I don't care about, through the machine over and over again until I get most all of whatever color I was dealing with before out of the machine. I know that there are those that like to "take the fenders off" their pasta machines, but it never really worked for me, so this is the method I use. It picks up the dirt and in a way "cleans the machine". I hope this helps you some. Big hugs! :)

    The color of your clay will go back to original color once baked. The translucent appears whit unbaked but will become translucent once baked

    If you don't want to smell like baby oil, mineral oil is the same thing without the scent.

    For the price we pay for clay, you'd think the companies would at least put an expiration date/best used by date on the products for consumers. I've noticed over the past three years, my clay is almost always hard. I mainly use the beige original Sculpey and purchase the 8 Lb box. So, I've started slicing up the clay in 1/8 inch pieces, then put about 10 drops of the liquid Sculpey softener in between each slab, wrap it back in the plastic and store it. The next time I use the clay, the softener has had plenty of time to soak into the clay.

    • @laurajschiller
      @laurajschiller  16 дней назад

      I so totally agree with you!… when the clay sits and it’s not used right away, it starts to harden up over time. But like you said if you put a little bit softener in it eventually seep into the clay and the clay can be usable again. But you’re right it’s a pain in the____. LOL!! Trying to be good here with my language. Anyway, I will have to try your method. I haven’t tried that one before. I hope you’ll always continue to play the clay though, and that you enjoyed it even though it has its faults at times. Sending you my hugs your way!🤗❤️👍🏻
