Autocar's channel is now known for their shockingly bad audio. How do you guys screw the audio up even with this seemingly proper setup? I wonder what part of the process went wrong, the recording, editing, or exporting? I mean, what is going on here 51:20 Thankfully the guest's voice is largely fine.
Here is a challenge for you . Arrange an interview with both Gordon Murray and Adrian Newey together to discuss cars , f1/ Electric v fossil fuel hybrid and what direction f1 should really be heading technically. That would be pretty interesting
Did you guys use back up audio from Adrian's mic to capture the other two people? Because they sound like they are at the bottom of an empty swimming pool.
@36:40 "Why is the Red Bull team less competitive recently?" "I haven't been able to contribute to the development of the car since April..." "I don't know. I'm not involved". That's why...😂
Adrian made a good point about the rules being too restrictive now. In the 1970s which he mentioned all the cars looked so different due to people being allowed to experiment more with this new "aero" thing.
Large V10s at 20,000 rpm ftw. F1 had a unique sonic calling card; the Netflix audience would have become a cult if that was the sound. Adrian > Pat Simmons
A brilliant move by Lawrence, to secure the talent of Adrian Newey. Thanks to Lawrence, Aston Martin both as a manufacturer and as a F1 team are looking to have much promise.
superbly interesting interview, but how by God's sake can AUTOCAR make such an amateuristic video camerawise and audiowise, not to speak about the the way questions are formulated.stuttering like it was for the local primary school? It is simply a shame. And especially for such an occasion
@@roryforhamRead his comment again, he said Newey is the best F1 designer in history, he doesn't mention not knowing about the two sub par designers you've mentioned
I always knew getting this far down the YT comments would bring mixed bags to the surface, but jeez. Those replies... Calling Adrian Newey the outright greatest does seem like the absolute wrong call. There's just so much stiff competition, from Murray to Chapman to Mauro Forghieri (who isn't given nearly as much credit as he's due for his achievements). Newey is obviously amazing, but his peers are in no way "subpar". The better way of putting it is that Newey is one in a pantheon of F1 engineering greats, because narrowing it down to one across eras and rulesets is legitimately impossible.
Christ, what an opportunity and Autocar screw up the recording. If it was a printed magazine it would be smeared with ink, unreadable, and you’d throw in the bin without reading.
Autocar turns 130 years old next year, by all rights this RUclips channel should be absolutely gigantic yet their online presence is so weak that this incredible interview has only managed to bring in 7 comments per hour and less than 650 views per hour over the 6 hours that it has been live. Look back at the video they did comparing the Suzuki Swift to the Renault Clio; the audio in the introduction is poor despite the fact both presenters are wearing lapel mics and the video is even in the wrong aspect ratio! Very disappointing.
Congrats guys, this was a wonderful interview with the greatest designer of all time. Great scoop to get this interview out just as the official news broke. 👏 Slight echo when Matt spoke in no way diluted the content. Loved it, thanks men.
Adrian is the most successful but not the best F1 technical Technical Director, Colin Chapman, John Barnard and Gordon Murray were successful and more innovative than Adrian. They came up in a era were the engines did not have rev limiters so a missed shift would blow a engine leading to DNF's.
Imagine getting this sort of scoop of interview, and then the sound being as shocking as this.
I think it’s fixable but note they don’t seem to be engaging with comments
😂
Imagine not hiring ONE camera guy and ONE audio guy for an interview like this
Excellent content, but Autocar needs to learn how to handle microphone tech, or use software such as Izotope RX to clean up the file.

Whiner.
Adrian sounds fine.
great interview. such a shame on the audio.

Well you couldn't have screwed this exclusive up with shocking sound equipment or recording. Did you guys use a record player to record this
Get Adrian to have a look at your mic setup.
Two videos with horrible audio in a less than a month. What’s going on guys?

A brilliant move by Lawrence to have Adrian Newey in a key role. Aston Martin as a manufacturer and F1 team are looking very promising.

The audio is "jank" but give it a listen. Loads of great details from Adrian in this interview.
An enormous missed opportunity. .More thought and prep needed. Shame.
Brilliant interview!
Sad, the sound seems really off... >.<
I was so looking forward to this one... >.<
Wait, Adrian Newey sounds perfectly fine though. Huh.
It had to be Cropley! Still the best interviewer in the automotive world and chances are that Newey picked who he wanted to be interviewed by.

Scoop of a lifetime and you give us this audio
Usually I’d say “FIRE THE SOUND GUY” but I don’t think there’s anyone to fire here
Then say: "Hire a sound guy."
The audio is not good but it is not inaudible and is somewhat secondary to the actual content.
Adrian Newey the living F1 legend ❤❤

Fully agree on all counts. A huge shame
Could you have the camera going off a bit more next time please
Good interview
How did you fail this hard on audio? Also, did you really need to take pictures the whole time 🤯
The cast is amazing but the sound is as if it was recorded in an echo filled toilet
You gotta use a noise gate to mute the other microphones for anyone not talking. Still, they made many other mistakes in the audio as well.
First not spam comment lol, what a scoop interview!!
Time for Autocar to put out a job listing for an audio/video expert with a decent salary incentive.
Why take all those mics and then not set them up?
Audio is awful
A bit like watching the One Show when they have great guests and mess it up with stupid questions and then run out of time.
4 months Adrian hasn’t been involved in the F1 car, and look at the result on track!
Audio just as bad as the journalism
Make your audio engineers pay or make them fix the audio asap.
The sound from the main man is clear, so the technical problems with the other microphones doesn't matter much.
Adrian Newey is the best F1 designer in the history
guess you have never heard of colin chapman or gordon murray

Enjoyed the interview butr sort the other sound out
It's not very exclusive, everyone's got an interview with him.
Timestamps where?
They can't even get the audio right for an interview of this calibre, there is no chance that adding timestamps even crossed their minds.
it's to much hall on your mics?

I could have recorded a better audio with my 5 year old phone.
Yeah, the sound is bad, but holy sheet that man could send rock to sleep.
