Beavers build communities | Northern Tails, Episode 4

A heatwave has dried up the local pond and the animals that live there are getting a bit stressed. If the wetlands have no water, what will they do? The neighbours call on their friend, Lou the beaver, for help. Lou welcomes everyone into her lodge but it quickly overflows with guests. She gets to work building a new dam that will help restore the community’s habitat. Housing crisis solved! The grateful critters throw a party to celebrate. Lou’s swimming talents steal the spotlight and bring the forest together. Nice work, beavers.
FACTS
Beavers build dams, made of logs and mud, across streams to block the flow of water. The dam creates a pond surrounded by lush marshy areas that provide food, water and shelter for all kinds of plant and animal species. These natural environments are called “habitats”.
