Turok (2008) Underrated and Underappreciated

- In 2008 we were blessed with the reboot of Turok. Upon its release Turok 08 was pegged as mediocre at best. Now, 10 years later we take a look back at Turok 08. Did it really deserve its poor reception? Or was it just misunderstood at the time? Like so many great works of art before it. Come along with me as I take you on a journey, from Turok's humble beginnings and its explosive finale.

The original turok was a mind blow for me as a kid. It truly was my first m rated game because my moms friend thought itd make me smarter to play mature games

Might very well be my favorite game of all time. I dont believe it was truly a perfect game at all, but I’ve never had more fun or nostalgia with any game. I do believe the game was underrated like you said though. That and a lot of games around that time were shadowed by the major releases of the time like halo, cod, and battlefield
I still play it on Xbox 360 and PC to this day, got a few groups going actually if anyone wants to play (we still do as of summer 2022 btw!)

I will never forget how devastated I was as a PS3 player when they shut the servers down. Turok was my life back in middle school.

If your a 2000 s kid you forgot to mention the guy who was killed by the scorpions carter. He was voiced by jason harris who was the host for double dare 2000.

Turok 08 and resident evil 5 was my shit back in the day.
RE5 one of the actual bests of the PS3 generation. God of War 3, Demon's Souls, Battlefield 3 and Resident Evil 5 were my jams back then.
It was a good game although it had some flaws but i liked the game cave area and water monster gave me Gears of war 2 vibes and characters also buff guys with big guns killing enemies like a boss i finished this game on inhuman difficulty i really wished they should have made turok 2 screenshots designs looked amazing i hope someone picks up this game make it for current gen that would look great
Turok 2008 needs a remaster!
I have this game on PC and it's near unplayable for me:
- broken lightning
- a fov that is too small and impossible to change without breaking the game
If a remaster comes I would like it to improve some things:
- checkpoints (like you said in the video)
- 21:9 Support
- Upgraded Unreal Engine 3 or 4 if it's possible
- Human enemies should bleed and explode into pieces just like the Dinosaurs
- minor improvements to the difficulty, gameplay, and AI
I've always wanted to play some Turok 2008 Multiplayer but I don't have it for Xbox 360 or PS3 and on PC the servers are offline.
I didn't notice that Turok looks different in the flashbacks and I never knew that there were so many big names in Turok 2008.
I think it would have been better if you had some Turok soundtrack in the background.
Fun Fact: I used to call this game Turok 4 because I thought Turok Dinosaur Hunter, Turok 2, Turok Evolution and Turok 2008 were the only Turok games. I never got to play Turok 3 and Rage Wars.

I liked this game, was a Turok fan cause of the PS2 game and this one was my first PS3 game, but one of the best ever? Nah. Underrated? Nah. I love Dinosaurs and I enjoyed this game, but the gameplay and gore were too underwhelming to really be considered a great one
This was an enjoyable video. I liked this new Turok and was pretty sad, that we never got the sequel. I'd like them to rerelease this game on Switch or other newer platforms. Or they could reboot Turok again and make it like the original stories with a good production value.
Seriously needs its sequel.

This was one of my very first games on pc back in 2008-2009. I sure do wish they'd at leat release it on Steam some day. Right now the only way to play it is piracy, which is sad.
I have been playing this game since 2010 on PC. I love that game. It's the best.

Turok 2008 was my favorite of all the Turok games, I really wish they would either remaster or remake it.
The commander who gets killed by an arrow, I think that was the bald guy that killed him

This was the first ever game I ever got on Xbox and I Loved it to actual death.. I played it that long until my Xbox went ⭕
I'm grateful as hell that this game is free now on PC, because you can't find it anywhere else now. And yes...it's incredibly underappreciated.
I found a PS3 copy at a retro games store a few weeks ago. Not a common find but they're out there.

Still hoping Night Dive gets around to remastering it for PC, it was one of my first rated M games and I have a lot of nostalgia for it. Hopefully they'd clear up the near-death screen effects though it's pretty atrocious to look at.

I really liked your video, the game may not be very strong because its history is weak, the game is incomplete, and it has small linear tracks, but it's the best action sci-fi survival game of all time, with lots of good ideas and variety.
That on an alien planet, dinosaurs and enemy soldiers with excellent artificial intelligence, must be killed with various weapons, including my favorite knife, which also has special tps animations. The game was even tossed up by the voices of Hollywood actors.
This game is very nostalgic for me and I loved it so much at the time it came out when I was 13 but I can admit this game is fucking horrendous. The only two redeeming aspects about this game is that it has dinosaurs in it and the setting.
I think it still holds up pretty well actually. It's kind of ugly to look at by modern standards, the near-death screen effects are awful and disorienting, the amount of times the player is knocked over is pretty unacceptable, and the quick time events are understandably polarizing, but at its core it's a good game I think. I haven't been able to find anything that can really even come close to its atmosphere, art and sound design. I still think about it a lot, which is more than can be said for probably the majority of 360/ps3 era shooters.

You can put a band aid on your feelings there called drugs lol but i dont recommend them just toughen up.
I thought it was very bland. I played a couple of hours into it and completely lost interest.
This was far more knowledgeable and useful than this two hour redundant video.
