0:36 That "Back To School Jam" was actually Kool Herc sister's idea. This was Kool Herc's 1st Party with his sister Cindy. Herc was 18 years old.
It is the START of Kool Herc as a DJ and NOT the start of "Hip Hop". Extending Break Beats was already happening way BEFORE Kool Herc.
The OG B.boys Trixie, SaSa, etc... started at OUTDOOR Jams breaking on concrete/asphalt.1520 Sedgwick Ave is INDOORS at a recreation room.
The actual "Rec Room" is small - You couldn't fit more than 100 people in there comfortably... It's ONLY a "rec room" inside an apartment building

The attempt by Kool Herc and his sister Cindy along with others to say at her "Back To School Jam" "Hip Hop" was invented is pure nonsense!
1520 Sedgwick Ave isn't even in the South Bronx!!! It's in the West Bronx and was considered a middleclass neighborhood back then.
There is no EXACT Date for the Birth of HIP HOP... The DJ's, Break Beats, M.C.'s, B.Boys and B.Girls were all present at prior jams...
The name/term "Hip Hop" wasn't used by anyone yet and this was just another "JAM".
(An INDOOR JAM where Herc and his sister Cindy started a business relationship.)

Rap is music, Hip-Hop is a subculture. Rap started in the South, Hip-Hop started in New York. Rap is sometimes called Hip-Hop because it's the music of Hip-Hop.

This is inaccurate Toasting is Jive Talk Kool Herc didn't introduce Toasting to the United States. Jamaicans got Toasting which is Jive Talk after listening to Black American Radio DJs do Jive Talk on the Mic which is chanting and rapping in between and over songs. Jamaican music pioneers like Count Matchiki and Coxsone Dodd have said this on camera. Toasting which is Jive Talk has always been apart of Black American Culture. ruclips.net/video/Dc8GXMRK0ac/видео.html This is from 1957 Jocko Henderson doing Jive Talk its dubbed over a modern beat but you can clearly hear him rapping and chanting on the mic over and in between songs. This is what Jamaicans were hearing on radio stations being picked up in Jamaica from the United states and that's where they got Toasting.
