      It doesn't explain the grammar at all and the progress tracking is wrong, I'd recommend using something else like ttmik or RUclips 😅

      @@sage73738 there are grammar patterns explained, you can find them attached to the every lesson. I personally combine Duolingo with more resources, RUclips etc. and can't complain :) don't use it as the only source of studying tho

    Ooh, nice informative video! When i say goodbye in korean i often say 안녕히 계세요, because I'm the one leaving and the other person is staying. They say 안녕히 가세요, and i say 안녕히 계세요. We also say ~요일에 봐요, depending on what day we'll meet next, like 금요일에 봐요 ^^

      If you don't mind me being curious, but I saw "...I often say...", and
      wonder where? My humble knowledge 'says' multiculturality is not rare
      there...... Let the 3,000th be smth from Unnie! haha
      안녕히계세요!
      (I remembered that the way I used mind wasn't right at all,
      so the question came out quite confusing, even contradictory.
      But you still understood! I was trying to make it short, but
      that sometimes "eats" important peaces of information :)

    • @EmBee084
      @EmBee084 6 лет назад +2

      Danijel D not sure i understand the question, but i say 안녕히계세요 or other korean words/sentences when i meet with korean people for language exchanges in the city where i live. Like you said, multiculturality is not rare, especially not where i live haha

    • @danijeld8669
      @danijeld8669 6 лет назад +2

      It was an introduction with no ? Didn't put any sentence after! Sorry,
      it slipped - I have shortened everything. It is really great to have such
      opportunity. 'Only live'(one we use) lang. can stay longer in our mind!

I've been tired of saying 잘 가 and 안녕 everytime, because of not knowing any other way to say goodbye and also struggled when I needed some more polite ways to say good bye :) I'm from Poland and we often informally say "w kontakcie" which has the same meaning that 연락할게 and 문자할게 do! How is it that Namjoonie learned English by WATCHING friends and I can't learn Korean, I've literally watched about *11* times boys over flowers and playful kiss *and* every single thursday I used to have art and my art teacher is Korean and sometimes I used to talk to her In Korean I litteraly only said hi, bye & thanks at every opportunity I had to say that but I watched videos to learn Korean and practiced everyday with like five apps and I still don't understand or speak korean how is that possible????
    Anyways youre videos had helped me understand Korean but I still don't know how to speak it but Im working on that

    • @justahumanpassingthrough5544
      @justahumanpassingthrough5544 4 года назад +18

      Lol I know how you feel but don't worry -- when Namjoon says he learned English from Friends, I think he means it was the biggest reason why he is so [nearly] fluent. In reality, all students in Korea learn some English in school, watch movies in English, and are just generally more exposed to western culture than westerners are to them.
      And remember, Friends has 10 seasons, and most dramas are less than the equivalent of one Friends season. So even if you were to watch B.O.F 100 times, you still wouldn't be hearing/watching the same amount of scenarios.
      P.S ~ Boys Over Flowers is life 💐👌🏽
      Also, "Beating Again" (순정에 반하다) is an amazing drama, possibly my top favorite, and I would recommend it to anyone who watches K-dramas.
      Edit: I realize the original comment is a year old, but sometimes commenting on old stuff is worth it in case someone reads it 😅
      And yeah, just watch as much stuff in Korean as possible, the more you hear it (and study) the better. And don't forget to have fun ~ the key to learning anything really ♡

      You wrote "너무" twice so just in case you meant "나무" it's:

    I can't believe Unnie left one out (#6) and that there is a difference! Unnie left out Annyeong hi (he) gye/gae seyo. Which is formal/polite/honorific and means something like: Be/Go well. Goodbye stay in peace. Which is used for when your leaving and someone else is staying (behind); as opposed to Annyeong hi ga seyo which is formal/polite/honorific and is used when you are staying and the person you are speaking to is leaving (the place you are at). It means something like: Be/Go Well. Goodbye go in peace. Annyeong is Informal speech usualy only to be used with those Who are Close friends and those who are younger then you are. Annyeong Haseyo is Polite Goodbye. Then there are all the ones Unnie mentioned.

    You ended the video saying 안녕 ò_ó
    The one I've heard the most is 잘가, so I thought it was the most common way of saying bye.
    There is a song by Hong Jinyoung called 잘가라 but it's translated as "goodbye" so I don't know what does 라 add to the meaning if it's translated the same way. How is 잘가라 different from just 잘가?

      Wilderman Niño With the 라 it gets even more informal and sometimes even rude.

      Hi! I know of that song and enjoy it myself! Haha.
      If it's alright, I'd like to answer your question. The suffix "라" is an indicator for an imperative sentence/statement. An example would be "하세요" vs "해요" vs "해라". I'm sure you're aware of the first two - "Please do it" and "Do it" (simply put). "해라" can be given/received as a demand compared to the two others.
      ie: 빨리 해라! = Hurry up (and do it)!/Do it quickly!
      It may seem rude or aggressive, but that's not always the case; the nuance/tone can be changed depending on your delivery and situation. Furthermore, this "라" suffix is usually used by people higher in status or older to people of lower status or younger, also among people of similar status and age (friends). Something to keep in mind is that this ending is a casual one, a step lower from the standard/polite "~요"
      A situation where it can be seen less aggressive would be a parent telling their child to eat breakfast: "아침 밥 먹어라".
      In the case of "잘가" vs "잘가라"...
      As you may know, "잘" meaning "good/well", "가" meaning "to go"... "잘가" would literally mean "to go well", as KoreanUnnie explained. The nuance is that you're wishing the person to go safely - that kind of feel. On the other hand, "잘가라" would be the imperative version of that. Rather than wishing them to go safely, you're telling them to go safely. In this usage the term "demand" doesn't really describe it well; moreso, asking them to go (well) is more fitting.
      Hope that helps! ^^ And hope you have a good day~
