My man had that cleaner , identical in every way, except the badge on top said the Phoenix major vacuum cleaner.!! Excellent video as always.Thank you.
I remember what a pain in the ass they were to clean , ours had a lever on the side to clear the catchment , that's why we'd save the news paper. ( also to light the furnace ) I never thought I'd ever see one of these again , they were powerful though , could suck up a lamp if you got a hold of the cord .. you got it from someone who took real good care of it , or had wood floors . Thanks for the walk down memory Lane .
What a beautiful machine, was this made before you started with a detailed talk and in-depth look at your chosen vacuum cleaner in your film Studio? 😉. Much prefer the videos now as I'm sure all your subscribers on here will agree with me. We enjoy the chat and it's great you actually spend time to reply to massages as many ask for feedback but never reply to a comment.
Ahhh yeah it was. I used to only do the 'in use' type of video until I got used to, and started enjoying, the to-camera style with an overview. I love hearing from my viewers, I've learnt so much from them over the past couple of weeks!
New to your channel - was hoping to find a website too ??? Who made this machine ? It seems to have a 'Goblin' style to it - a machine my grandmother had. We had a smashed Electrolux (The Smith & Pepper jewellery Quarter museum, Birmingham, England) has one. We also used to use a newer Electrolux which seemed somewhat tired. It was replaced (in use) with the first model Vax - which is now museum-worthy ! The first Hoover I remember in the family was a fridge and the second, a dishwasher. The Hoover dishwasher lasted 3 months. It was replaced by a Hotpoint which survived 2-3 years before losing its mind. After that, an Indesit and a Bosch dishwasher - both needing additional spray holes in the spray arms to get to everything, only last 2 months each. Sick of this, I then bought a commercial one - which I repaired on day 0 and has worked fine for several years. Those that lasted 3 months or less all failed due to 'over-filling'. ????? You seemed to have focused on vacuum cleaners - there are plenty of other old appliances that would add interest to your collection.
@@Kubulek17 Two had 'brain failure' - they lasted a while. 3 of them had 'overfill' errors on the initial fill - and this fault occurred 2-4 months from new. I guess brain failure to count litres going in. They obviously knew it was a faultypart for them to fit an overfill sensor ! If they'd just used that to stop the fill, they'd have lasted a lot longer !
I believe they were manufactured by Pheonix telephone and electric works ltd from 1947 to 1960s before the company was dissolved and sold off. They manufactured small domestic appliances and only ever made two vacuum cleaner patent designs this one and a later boxy version. Could be wrong, happy for someone to correct me.

Oooh that's interesting. I had a suspicion that it might have been a badge engineered machine!
Beautiful vacuum

Was there not a bag that you took to the dustbin and then simply turned inside out with one hand - and then shake all the dirt straight into the bin ?
