- The first sail of the season!! And what a start!!
Launched Forager for the first time after all the mods and maintenance this year!
at the start the wind was from NE and around 6kts but forecast called for 12Kt-22Kts so great sailing was on the cards and it didn't disappoint. Sailing aimlessly Bruno and me just set sail upwind...just for fun!!

Ola Jose!
I feel for you there, but rest assured our "dirigentes" are not that clever either! 😬
Abrazo,
Teo
Jaja...yes!!!
I've had a propper bad week with things going wrong, and this weekends in UK it's tipping down and blowing a hoolie - sailing for me is cancelled. But hey, what an amazing video! All your hardwork ... perfect conditions ... boat looking fantastic, and gave your friend a run for his money lol. Great new camera angles and editing. You put a big smile on my face, thank you so much for sharing :-)
Hi David!
The topper is hard to beat when I have a reef on but It sure was a lot of fun!
We are under strong winds now too (up to 30kt) but I hope I can go sailing again by week's end.
Hope you have a great week!
Cheers
Teo
gorgeous boat, location, conditions. and that magic, support-pole-erasing view from forward of the bow is pretty spectacular! thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it! 😁
Such a great show pal, I've just returned to the UK after 10 years living in Alvor Portimao,
And you're tempting me into building a skiff now,
Obrigado
Max 👍😎
Thanks Max!
Well, anyplace is a good place to build and sail a skiff!! 😁
Abraço
Teo
I love your videos! Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to get my dinghy on the water
Thank you!
Nothing beats sailing a dinghy one has built!
Good luck with your build and keeps us posted! 😉
I wish you a good season. Cam actions are very nice.
Thanks Yalçin! 😄
Muy bueno, a disfrutar!!!!
Obrigado Delio!
Great video, thanks! Enjoy your adventures!
Thank You PJ! 🙃
Great footage
Thanks dude! 😎
Buen sailing!
Thank you Edgardo! 😉
Ah the joy of sailing fast in a small boat close to the water, brilliant. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it Des! 😁
Since the temperatures here (holland) are still far below T-shirt weather, we are condemned to watching other people sailing. Started friday and enjoyed your whole content. Incl. this one right now! Keep them coming. Nice people and nice boats! Makes happy an understatement. Regards, Paul
Thank you Paul!
Temperatures here are ok now, the water on the other hand was still a bit cold! 😁
Cheers,
Teo
Imagens muito porreiras :)
Boa temporada :)
Obrigado!
Só foi pena um dos bacanos que aparece nas filmagens não ter vindo tambem!! 😁
@@TheBoatRambler eheheheh e concordo a 100% :)
🤗 Woohoo, your back in action 😀 all looking good and wonderfully sunny compared to wet cold windy uk 😊. I hope some of your sunshine heads our way soon 🌞👍🏽.
Hey Dave!
Having lived there for 10 years I must confess I'm not too hopeful about the UK+Sunshine combo!!! But I wish you all the luck! 😁
The summer is almost here and I cant wait for those hot summer days full of afternoon winds! 🌞
Exhilarating. Sunshine, clear sparkling water, near capsize; does it get any better? Fair winds to you
Thank you Andy! 😉
Such a good feeling, the first time sailing and start a new season! Best wishes and greetings from Bavaria! 🌬️⛵🍀
Thank you!
Yes, the start of every season is always special... 🙃
Great, fast sailing!
I'm not sure I like that extra wide lens producing big distortions, but your video is really dynamic and great!
Have a great season 2021!
Thanks Robert!
I'm still trying to figure out what angles work better with this camera.
It will be a learning curve for sure....😉
Your fancy 3D camera's looking great for this season!! NIce to see you on the water.
Thanks Daniel! 😉
We opened this season also ) this saturday we even did some Laser racing )
Hi Konstantin!
Nothing like getting back on the water right? 😎
@@TheBoatRambler absolutly!
Just awesome! :) That 360 degrees cam definitely worth the price, whatever it was!
Thanks Istvan!
the camera is an insta360 One X2, it costs about the same as a GoPro...
Awesome man, thanks so much for sharing your first rip with us!
The 360 cam is a nice addition too 😎👍
Thanks!
it was my first video with this camera, need to get used to it! 😉
@@TheBoatRambler i loved it, the edits and music were awesome. And you didn’t over do it either, which I really liked. But mostly loved seeing you rock the goat 😄 The lug did pretty good against that other plastic boat lol!
Thanks!
Bruno had full sail on the Topper which is a bit heavier and can take more wind before taking a reef.
Me on the other hand had a reefed sail from the start. when sailing solo with winds up to 8-9Kts with full sail the GIS might be just a bit faster overall.
But it's always fun regardless! 😉
Nice to see such a great day for the first sail, with lots of Vitamin D :)
Hi Tusk!
I can tell you that the water is still cold tho! 😬
..but yes it was a great first sail! 😁
@@TheBoatRambler haha no it looked balmy
Thanks for these last few videos. I wanted to see how a lug sail was used, but I am blown away with how fun your hobby of sailing is!
Is there any particular reason to prefer a lug over a triangular sail?
Triangular sails require taller masts which in turn require shrouds and it all this makes it much more complicated and time consuming when you need to remove the sail and mast. With my setup I can have my boat ready to launch in 2 minutes!
Thank you, anti-skid then is next weekends project!
Fantastic! Very nice to have you on the water again.
The distorted view is pretty fun! Slipping along in the smooth water by the island is just beautiful with that distortion. But it would lose the surprise and start to be a bit boring if every video. I think you would have to call it an initial success though! :)
Thanks Michael!
I will try to find new/better angles for the video as I get to know the camera! 😉
Enjoy all your sailing presentations - except this one! Seems the camera work has overtaken the sailing. Might have helped if there'd been a camera working from the other boat.
Hi Greg!
Thanks for your feedback, and sorry you didn't like it.
Contrary to what you say, this camera actually allows me to sail without worrying if the camera angle is the correct one, I just press record and that's it! So less worries and MORE sailing for me! 😁 The angle might not be the best tho, but I'm still experimenting with the camera.
As for cameras on other boats... that's up to the owners to decide if they want the extra hassle or not. 😉
Great your out there again! :)
She sails so nicely and quick!
Just an aside the scene changes in the first 20 seconds were almost painful to my eyes. Too harsh JMO.
Have a great season. :)
Hi Kevin!
Thanks you so much for your honest feedback!
Those 20 seconds are just for ppl to know what's coming and can make an informed decision if they want to waste their time watching it or not. 😉
What was it at the start? The short segments? or the ZoomIn- ZoomOut transitions?
Thanks again!
Cheers,
Teo
Hi Teo That's a great idea. Your photography is so very professional and it makes for superb viewing. The weird bits for me were: Particularly at 0:05 / :06 and 09:/0:10 its the weird loss of focus and also the speed of the zoom. A slower zoom would be easier on my eye. 0:16... again the speed of the transition.
Though some people might be quite happy with it.
It does not help to see you skimming the waves in fantastic sunshine... Can you look like your having a miserable time for once? (Laughing).
The weather here has been awful. A great pleasure to watch as always. Be well.
Thank you Kevin!!
that is brilliant feedback.
I will look for some softer transitions on next video.
As for UK weather.... I know how you feel!! Why do you think I returned to Portugal after 10 years there? 🌞
Cheers
don't need to move the straps, just get longer legs !!!
bigger shoes might be enough...🤔
Great fun, great video. What is the bow camera? You can control it?
Hi Paul,
the camera is the Insta360 X2, I can't control it but it records 360 degrees so I can choose which direction I want when editing.
Hey, I'd like to know what 360 camera you have mounted on the bow and what you think of it. What a great video and great sailing. Love your videos. I've been to some of the places you have filmed at. (I went to a bulfight and running of bulls in Moita. And the restaurant on the water where you dove in. I'm moderately certain I've eaten at that restaurant when I was younger.) Best wishes. Obrigado. Meus avós eram de Portugal mas eu não falo muito bem. Sou de 2da geração americano.
Hey Dave!
The camera is an Insta360 One X2. It is great but I'm still trying to get used to the angles and the 360 editing software.
If you ever come to Moita again drop me an email! 😉
Abraço.
@@TheBoatRambler Hey. Thanks for the info and the quick response. I am going to ask for one of those cameras for Father's Day.
Hey, check out our playlist "Harpoon Dreams": ruclips.net/video/ZGHyw1-LR1g/видео.html
Looks like you had fun. The camera out front makes the boat look very slim. Presumably it has it's own editing software as it does a 360 degree view?
Hi Benedict!
I will try to get the camera a bit higher next time to get a less sharp bow!
This was the first time I used the camera so didn't know what to expect.
The 360 Studio editor isn't fun to work with either...for now! Maybe I'll make a 360 video soon! 😏
@@TheBoatRambler It isn't a problem or complaint but an observation. I can bet the editor isn't fun!
The upgrades look awesome Teo... feels good to get back into it right???
...how did you get those front on shots???
Hi Phil!
Yes nothing like being back on the water!!
The front shots are taken with my new toy...Insta 360 One X2 camera! It has two lenses which records 2x 180 degrees videos(back and front), then the software just stitches them back together and "hides" the selfie stick automatically!! Technology....🙃
@@TheBoatRambler fantastic... yer a pro!!!
Well Forager obviously did not find too much to eat this last winter, she looks so skinny, maybe her new dress is responsible !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's because I ate all the food!! 😁
@@TheBoatRambler Well I did not like to say so myself far too rude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So...how fast can you make your boat go??
Hey Axel_X
Don't really know as I only got the GPS now. But during this session at some point it registered 10.4Kn....not too shabby with one reef on!! 😁
What camera are you using out the front?
Hi Lex.
it's the Insta360 X2
