I love this freaking thing. I upgraded mine with all kinds of stuff and lifted it to give it more clearance. The motor I put in it is entirely too strong and keeps breaking spider gears in the diff. Or snaps axles. Or snaps the entire drive shaft off of the trans, like you do. I am rocking a mamba X with the ESC, Reefs 555 servo, some random high voltage mini servo for shifter, light bar, winch, lifted by 1 CM, and rigged up the smoke system from the MRAP onto it. Love the upgrades you put on this! and love the color!
i have a video that shows how to remove the motor the easiest way. trust me, I know how you feel, I need to be able to start and finish some jobs so i dont forget where things connect to.
Nice job on the reconfigure. It’d me great if you could post something after you’ve got a few more hours on it and give us an update on how it’s running and durability. 👍
I have just received my Desert version of this truck and the first thing to break on it was the steering servo after driving on long grass {i presume?} I've ordered a 20g servo so hopefully that will fix the problem. Another thing i want to do with mine is attach a spare wheel on the rear hood. How have you attached your wheel?
i marked where i wanted the center of the wheel, drilled a hole and used a nut and bolt that fit. the tie downs are for show. i have 4 small eye posts and the small bungee to make it look like their holding it down
With the brushless engine are you able to still utilize the 2 speed transmission with the high and low speed settings? I might do that to mine if I can but idk about it.
Ok. Sweet! I’m also not a fan of the big remote they give you lol. Any good options for a aftermarket one that can still shift between high and low range?
I do own a hg p408 to and its stock . But when i reverse and then drive forwed it have that kinda of drivetrain slopp is that normal on the 408? I notice it the most in low gear
@@ccdbcvtrider1 yea it does not feel like that qwalite u expected for that price the car is nice but not really that good mechined parts a Nice and tight drive train is what u expect. Sorry for the bad english 😂 cant really spell not even in my own languge
interesting! I too had a rethink of the 408. Check my channel if you have time. I'd still recommend brushed, but then I use a RC4WD GRU to give scale speed. I love that you've tackled the rat's nest of wires! these trucks are great mechanically, but the electronics are awful. You need a new servo for surez and a new BEC. Like the colour! 👍🍺🇬🇧 ps I can match that crawl speed and better the drag brake with the GRU 🤓
I watched yours just now. I am wondering how much you lifted the body. sure seems to make a difference in what tires you can then put on it. Good stuff your videos.
@@ccdbcvtrider1 about 8mm front, 4mm rear, and 6mm in the middle. You will need to drill the chassis for M3 bolts. Be aware that the plastic is very brittle and the original skinny bolts actually make sense..Well, until you need a body lift. The back ones you can drill up through the floorpan and use a nyloc to hold the body on. The front works best with course self tapers. TBH it's one of the things that put me off the 408, it's sort of perfect and hard to do anything with, hence I binned the body and just kept the chassis and mechanical bits. Btw the stock electronics are garbage grade 👍🍺😎
4:08 actually the HG P408 is actually closer to the 1/10 than the TRX4. A Land Rover Defender 110 has a 279cm wheelbase while the TRX4 is 324mm, that's not 1/10 but 1/86. The Humbee has a 330cm wheelbase, that compared with the 329mm from the P408 makes almost 1/10 which is very accurate. I dont know why they say SCX10 based rigs and Traxxas, etc are 1/10 if you make your maths you will see none of them are even close.
Great job. The fusion motor is in 7 of my crawlers. After seeing this I’m now going to buy one and modify it immediately hahaha
thats awesome.

@@ccdbcvtrider1 indeed! It’s on my actual channel (this is just my personal account) other channel is called “Call Me KevBot”
Do you have videos of yours
@@mikealexis Yep. I have a couple of driving videos and some general review/upgrade talks videos. Its on "Call Me KevBot" channel.
What "too strong" motor are you using ? (is it also a Trasped Humvee?)
You upgraded Humby in a cool way!~~~ You did a great job!~~~^_^
thanks. I try
nice shoes btw!
You make it looks really nice
thanks.
Great job👍I’m debating getting one, looks like all metal chassis 👍
chassis is metal, its a very heavy rig.
You should its a well build rig
@Bill Chisholm Well since after my post I actually got one...so far so good only thing I replaced is the controller
@Bill Chisholm sorry you had a bad experience with it. Im not connected with the company at all. If I was, Id help.
@@mikealexis Hope yours runs good.
Very Nice, greetings from Brazil.
Brazil seems like an interesting place to live.
I ordered the HP 8x8 don’t get it till December but after I save some more “fun” money I’m going to get the humvee
its a good rig, really is
I’m having trouble wiring my 408 all my lights are working except left and right indicators and my sound don’t know what I’m doing wrong???
Ill have to take a look of how mine is wired for ya. Ill do my best to describe it
Man you did a great job. I need to change the motor in mine as well. The wires and complexity scares me to be honest.

Went to look for yours but did not see any video on your channel

Yes, the 2sp trans is separate from the motor. the spring you see in the video is the tensioner for it. youll be all set

there is a rather large (in my opinion) dead spot where the rig can roll forward or reverse before the drivetrain is engaged. that is your "slopp"

honestly, I never actually tried to do the math to see how accurate any of them are.
What size figure driver did you use?
I get the Wrestling figures from Walmart or thrift stores. I usually take 5mm from their midsection and put them back together. I make the clothes.
@@ccdbcvtrider1 ok. I have a John Wick figure, 7 inches tall (1/10 scale)
