Even when I am an experienced quad builder, I came across this video and decided to watch it. What I have to say is THANK YOU for taking the tine to help the entire hobby with your excellent and detail videos. I will watch the rest of the series as I am sure I will learn something new.
Hallelujah! Though for me being SO new and trying to understand it all, as there seems to be SO little instructional material from the product sellers (even the RR CL1 kit that JB demos came with a selection of components that I had to guess how to use-like the demand was so strong that they cobbled it together and left me hanging for specifics......until I happened upon a video that helped) and, even here, there are still terms and procedures to comprehend, this is what I've been hungry for. Thank you JB.
J.B. This info is exactly what this old man needs! Thanks for the work! I am taking your Sim lessons and watching several of your vids. Only about half of what you say is going over my head after about 3 weeks. However, water doesn't flow like electricity. More like air. Unless the sum of the input hose equals the total sum of all connected and opened. All your doing is dividing the flow by four. 10 gpm inlet equal 2.5 gpm by 4 outlets.
Bro, this is needed and definitely useful!!!! Our newer people need to KNOW this to just even begin. there was a reason you were probably begged to produce a video like this. I will use it to help new ones who ask me about how this stuff works. thanks!!!
Thank You Mr. Bardwell. I am 61. I have owned and flown kiddy drones until I bought a Mavic air 2. I enjoy the Mavic but I found out about this acrobat mode in fpv and decided I had to do it. I bought a Taranis X9D and I now have about 5 hrs on velocidrone in acrobat. Sure I have a way to go but I can hardly wait! Worse than a 12yr old kid. I bought a 3" bumblebee and I am going to learn from you how to build the 5" I have already ordered 95% of the parts. I will contribute to your devoted hard work, you have more than earned it. Thanks a retired 37yr Boeing employee so yeah I like things that fly.
I'm the new guy and I have dived in head-over-heals for FPV without ANY electrical experience to speak of (so I've wired some outlets and light switches)... Never soldered before kind of new.I have a QAV 250 I'm currently building (months of trying to get the time with 2 kids under 4), and now I have a Pico X on order I'm super pumped about! Yeah, and I haven't even flown one yet (yes I got the kit I have to build) THANK you so much for videos like these. Keep them coming!

Not only is it a very helpful video, you managed to feature both the PDB and FC (Matek and Rotorgeeks) that I have for the build I am procrastinating about getting started, and it was the one thing that's been making me nervous, and you covered it, so thx.
Joshua, you put it nicely. In clear language, there is lot if lack of knowledge about the DIY flight controllers. However, your videos are complete and clear, and I got additional information specifically related to iNav-Taranis-flight controllers and GPS that I think, round up my questions. Thanks for this. I just finished building my first quad where I wired up the FC by following a build video that showed me the "what" but not necessarily the "why". This video has confirmed some of my assumptions and taught me new things. I know it's not the sexiest of topics but, as a relative newbie, I really appreciate the solid fundamental instruction. Such a valuable series! I needed that a year ago, still amazing for newcomers. I remember me having spent DAYS on end trying to figure out how to wire up my old Naze32. Pretty daunting task if you dont have experience in the field of electronics.
BEC= Battery Eliminator Circuit and that was the label for the first ESC's long ago when the they included a linear voltage supplier to supply power to the Rx/servos. A switching and better regulator came a bit later on some ESC's. The ESC's included one of the red JST plugs and is sometimes referred to as a BEC plug. Along with the BEC plug you also needed a BEC switch with the red JST plug to power the Rx/servos and to control the on/off function. Many times you eliminated the ESC BEC because they were problematic and used a better regulator or smaller onboard battery(5-6V) to power the radio gear.
I hope it's not too late to comment on an older playlist, but just wanted to thank you for posting these 4 videos (FC wiring). I needed a primer, and your content is most useful! Thanks for all you're doing to improve this hobby!

OMG finally someone think about others! all the thanks in the world, you helped a lot!... one of the things that keeps away new people from joining the FPV, and I hear about the same electronic fear from many people like me, who really want to start FPV, but electronics keeps them away... not even one FPV-RUclips channel gives proper guidance, yes there are a lot of videos on the subject, and everyone talks in terms that only they can understand or an electrician can understand, but what is PDB? what all the components on the board are? what is a Resistor? I'm 3 months into this Hobby and I already feel like I need a degree in: Fluid Dynamics Electrical engineering Physics Material science Piloting And probably three others that I'm forgetting. And I'm having the time of my life!
Looking forward to the rest of this series! I'm in the middle of my first build, using a Betaflight F3, my cheap 20W soldering iron couldn't heat up the large ground pads very well, so I'm waiting for a new 60W adjustible temperature iron to arrive tomorrow. Hopefully that'll do the trick!

Hi i am electronic tech for over 30 years and yet i was unsure of where to put voltage input until i watch this video ,so thank you for taking the time , i have watched lots of vids and never been sure of where the power goes . lets hope i get it right first time now cheers

I needed this video! For the last year I've bought pro built drones because I'm lazy. I fly acro freestyle well but can't build. I'm literally sitting here now with a new frame, motors wired to esc's and my matek pdb wired and I am frozen. Lol. So next video we go.
It must be confusing for a beginner having so many options. I was lucky enough to start when the only real option was the Naze32 running Baseflight. I found a great video by a guy named Mochaboy that really helped me get started.
Just stumbled over my frame from 6 years ago,... PDB was a proto board with battery connector and ESC leads directly soldered to it and dipped in liquid tape. The FC was powered by one of the ESCs BECs...
Don't get me wrong - I really love these videos, but I could have used an overview as a starting point here;- what is a FC, ESC, etc., and how do they all connect - flow diagram style. I'm struggling to find a good "anatomy of a quadcopter" video. But it's just a minor gripe - I love this channel.
Glad you're here. For what it's worth, the info in this series is showing its age. There are some new things that have come along that aren't covered, and some of the assumptions about what equipment you'll be using aren't right any more.
My brain is frying from the steep learning curve in quadcopters. This is nice, thank you.

ok well my 24 pin on the spf3 has a dead short but i can power it from usb , so trying figure a work around
+Ronald J Kirby if there's a dead short you have to figure out where the bridge between the pins is coming from.
