The owner was of Indian ancestry but was born in Kenya.
After graduating from the University of West London, he had just returned to East Africa when the Ugandan president Idi Amin expelled his country's South Asian minority in 1972.
Living in neighbouring Kenya, He decided to move in case "some Idi Amin type of guy comes in and makes you a beggar overnight," he said in a 2012 interview.
He came to Canada in 1975, where, confronted by the cold and the snow, he said he couldn't think of any other business opportunities but to manufacture fire logs.
"When I got into the fire log business it was a big thing to be macho. Get a chainsaw and cut your own wood and bag it yourself," he said in the 2012 interview.
Instead, he offered convenient products that ignited easily and were made from inexpensive sawdust and wax.
His Toronto-based company, became North America's biggest manufacturer of fire logs.
His companies also have made glue sticks, stationery tapes and mailing supplies. He has now shifted his interests to being a financial backer for technology startups.
According to the architect who designed his house, the property includes two outdoor tennis courts, an indoor swimming pool, a home theatre and a five-car garage.

I really don’t understand why people waste things like this. There is nothing wrong with this house. The workmanship that has gone into this is extraordinary. Thanks for showing us this piece of art Brandon. Cheers, Dave. 👍🏼🇦🇺🇨🇦🤘🏻

The feeling of disgust when you said it was going to be demolished for an even bigger mansion was overwhelming. Beautiful home, thanks for the explore, I’m a new follower of yours and enjoy your comments and great videography.

One would almost need a map to find their way around this most incredible home. I can’t in my mind think of any reason one would need a larger home unless people are trying to outdo one another. Incredible features too numerous to list. One of my favorites was the “library” upstairs. There should be a law against destroying the resources and craftsmanship that have gone into this amazing home. People are sick for doing it. Thanks for sharing this massive beautiful home Brandon.

You would think we could solve that mold problem by now! Don't put pools inside and vent these places properly! Just goes to show that money doesn't buy quality craftsmanship. I bet the blueprints were awesome! Thanks for a another great explore before demo Brandon. Cool to see how the other side lives😂👋✌💜

The most impressive ceiling in the entire house was next to the kitchen and you never looked up to see it. It was covered in stone, very beautiful. Those metal things coming out of the walls and that round surface were/are nozzles for water. The round thing was a holding tank and the rock covered area was an area for the water to land coming from the nozzles. Some of the equipment in the basement was to catch and treat the water for the fountains.

I’ve been only watching his videos for less than a week, and I absolutely love his voice as well. It’s so soothing and I love all of his Canadian accents. They remind me of spending time in Canada with my grandma and grandpa and my step grandpa was a Hungarian and he had such a wonderful Canadian accent as well, so he does have a wonderful voice🩷

nice place, too fancy for my liking lol. the ceiling bracing might be from structural damage do to water leakage or the weight load from above was too much for the floor joist maybe, the other room that is stripped of dry wall i would think water damage also, depends on what rooms are above it. drawing safety handles on the wall when your tired of your contractor (cause i dont think your husband is doing renoes when you have this kinda money lol) not doing it so you give then a gentle nudge reminder lmao , wonder if that room with the green board an temperature control was going to be a wine/beer cellar? just never got finished or one big walk in fridge lol, crazy place for sure, thanks for doing this one,

Thanks Brandon! This place is just magnificent! It's such a shame that it was built with faulty areas like the roof. One bad roof over a phenomenal house is bye bye house. Would be wonderful to find out that some people got to reuse a lot of what's left - the crown moldings, the hardwood bookcases, even the hardware from all the doors and cupboards. They were quite nice!
My absolute favorite part of the home was the huge glorious kitchen. The things I could do in there!!

I believe this house had heated floors with all the water lines e erywhere. Also, the small step-down pool like thingy was a step in hot tub in the pool room. Folks won't be scrubbing Cooper much longer since most houses use plastic lines now. The smart boxes might be water softeners? Beautiful mansion, thanks for another great explore! I enjoy your explores because you go through at a good pace and your not afraid to get your hands dirty. But should wear gloves and mask. Then protected from leaving a foot print that you've been and not killing yourself breathing in the toxic shift in the air. Protect yourself! ✌️

Such a waste! I will never understand people with money and how they spend it. This is an amazing house for sure with beautiful architecture and of course a very massive house. I would for sure get lots in that house! Sad that it is being torn down. Can you imagine just how many "normal" houses could be built with that $30, 000,000 or how it could be used to take care of so many needy families! Great video for sure and I always enjoy the respect you give each property, keep these videos coming!
