Don't get me wrong I have a lot of respect to the tradition and I live my life with Abada's codes and ethics. If you are not open-minded enough to understand that Capoeira is not standing still, but it always changes, than it's your problem. The Capoeira we are playing today is very different than the Capoeira they played back in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, and even the 90's. It's Evolving all the time, and God bless Mestre Camisa for doing what he does.
A little more about the Amazonas game: Mestre Bimba was the creator of the rhythm. His pupil, Mestre Camisa, invented the game because of his love and connection to nature. Besides, it's a lot of fun!
Capoeira Eterna Arte Negra !! parabens Pelo Video !!!! abraços !!!!!!!
Personally, I like that they are playing this way to Amazonas to teach them body expression, which is important to, among other things, the malendragem of Capoeira. Since Miudinho was also mentioned and people are drinking a lot of hater-ade in the combox it is probably worth saying that both Suassuna and Camisa were students of Bimba and probably have a much better idea what he would think of these kinds of games than any of us.
The Amazonas game is a game in which the Capoerista is mimicking animals' movements inspired by the rain forest and domestic animals. You can see the different moves of the monkey, spider, scorpion, dog, cat, caterpillar, and many more.
This sure looks fun, too bad we don't play this game. Neither do we play miudinho, too bad, because both look awesome :( Oh and for the haters, shut up.
Define tradition, and I might then heed your advice. Til then, your comment is utter bull. It takes a heck load of skill, precision, and ability to do what they did, AND they had fun along he way. Don't criticize something that could very well become tradition a decade from now.
@BIMBAREI "Nao tem mais o que inventar" E. Ate que parece que eles nao falavem isso mesmo com esse tal de capoeira regional quando Bimba estava inventando ele. Open your mind.
You should ask the more important question...where did Africans originally learn martial forms...then ask why does capoeira in its most traditional form resemble movements of animals... Unless u r African...u may not understand the concept of NATURE been the first teacher... Ase o
If you want to learn capoeira and drink from the right fountain, you should at least go to Bahia, spend a few years living in Salvador, and going to places like the Forte da Capoeira, and learning with real ancient Mestres such as Moraes or João Pequeno... living it to the fullest, walking the streets, going to real rodas... if you come to Bahia, the Meca os capoeira and play this crap game called Amazon, you´ll know what I´m talking about, fools!
I keep getting back to this video. I think it is one of my most important influences for Amazonas. what a nice game you guys played!
