    Brilliant idea, mate 👍🏽
    Rubber bands seem to perish rather quickly in my workshed, so I use old bicycle tubes and they haven't degraded at all.👌🏽

    • @christofix
      @christofix  3 года назад +1

      Thanks, Bill! Bicycle tubes were my first idea, but then I thought, everybody has rubber bands, so let's use that. Also, I think a bicycle tube will be too thick. On the other hand, like you mentioned, a bicycle tube will last longer. If you try it, let me know if it works, I'm curious.
      Thank you for watching another video of mine, my friend.

      @@christofix
      I was going through too many rubber bands way to quickly, as they were perishing and snapping without me realising.
      I had some home made wood stains in jars that had no lids so I used plastic wrap and rubber bands, but as I said they didn't last and I didn't realise until I needed the stain, only to find they had dried up somewhat and spoiled...
      I went to our local bicycle shop and asked if they had old tubes they were throwing out, and he gave me a handful, about 6 or so tubes.
      I think experimenting with cutting different lengths of bands and trying out 1,2,3 or more twists and folds to see what kind of pressure it would yeild for different types of pressure required for different projects.
      Not sure I will get around to making any soon, as I'm quite busy, but I do intend to give it a go. Will let you know as soon as I do.👍🏽

  • @b3arwithm3
    @b3arwithm3 3 года назад

    I bought something like this on amazon and i think its concept makes it hard to use. If we want a good firm hold, we must increase the tension, but it makes it too hard to pull the jaws open. I much prefer your corner clamp using the long bolt. But for light use, these are good as we can open and close them in a snap!

    • @christofix
      @christofix  3 года назад

      Hi, thanks for watching and taking the time to write a comment. I appreciate that. After these first tests, this clamp seems to work well, and by tightening the rubber band I think I can make this clamp tighten even harder. However, I have not yet been able to test this on larger pieces of wood and only on lighter material, as you mentioned. But I suspect these will do a good job on bigger material too.
      Greetings, Christophe

    Thank you very much your corner clamp. You say there are free plans of this clamp in your link. But if i push your link it ask some questions. I mean it is not free, directly not be downloaded. In my opinion free is free and should be free without asking something.

      Hi there, and thanks for your interest in the corner clamp plans! I completely understand your point about wanting free access without any additional steps. Let me explain a bit more about why I ask for an email address. It's not just a formality - it's an integral part of how I can keep providing these plans for free.
      When you enter your email, it triggers my automated system to send you the plans directly. This system ensures that you always receive the latest version of the plans, including any future updates or improvements, all at no cost. It's my way of ensuring that you have the best possible experience with the tools I design.
      I invest a lot of time and effort into creating these resources, and by providing your email, you're helping me understand who benefits from my work and how I can continue to support and update these tools effectively. It's a win-win - you get free, up-to-date plans, and I get to keep improving the tools I offer.
      I'm really passionate about woodworking and about helping others in this craft. Your feedback is valuable, and I hope this clarifies why the email step is there. Thank you for your support, and I'm looking forward to sharing my work with you! 😊🔨

    I would like to see springs instead of rubber :-)

    • @christofix
      @christofix  3 года назад

      A spring was one of the ideas when I designed this corner clamp, but because of the bulky size of a spring I had to make the clamp a lot larger, and I did not want to give up on that. The compactness of this jig makes it possible to use it one-handed and is easy to work with. But still, a spring is a good idea.
      Thank you for watching, Kamil. I appreciate your comment.

What do you think?

    • @christofix

      Those are indeed smaller springs, thank you for taking the time to search for it and share it here. That is much appreciated. We don't have a Home Depot in Belgium, but I'm sure I will find this kind of springs in another store here.
