Best method I've found for planting trees is about 50/50 pine/oak to start. Oak gets the most logs per tree over time, but it takes sooo long to get done. On the other hand pine nets you 2 every 12 days which is just a little better then birch. So having the pine in lets you get some wood until your first batch of Oak comes in. At that point you can switch some of the pine over to be replaced with oak once it's replanted.. and leave a patch of pine that isn't cut down so you can get pine resin for the Observatory and then making treated planks. The whole thing minimizes wasted growing time since you need mature pine trees for the resin, you're also not sitting around doing nothing while the oaks grow since you can get at least 2 crops of logs off the pine.
49:55 The waterwheel is spinning in reverse because the water level is steadily going down upstream due to being drained by the water pumps. It likely doesn't work that well when the water IS flowing because it's nested in a corner and because waterwheels slow the current, more water is able to bypass the wheel and then backflow at the same speed of the current.
just fyi, you can more precisely manage priority if you keep in mind build order. the way beavers build is they check priority first, then the placement order. for example. you can place 2 water pump, then 2 farmers and then 2 scientist, set 1 of each to high priority and the beavers will build the waterpump first, the farm second and the scientist third.
I played Tripple Canyon last month, its an excellent map. Took me a long while to get water into all three channels but it's very cool to see how much the map changes.
Not sure if you're going to do it later in the series or not, but you can do a 2x2 hole and dump water in it, and it'll work like the 1x1 used to work. Also, very cool that you're doing Folktails! I usually only play Iron Teeth almost exclusively for their stackable log piles and their engines. (and vat grown pups are also nice)
Single wide channel also will also not irrigate much and evaporate super fast. the whole new evap mechanic is something else when you are not used to it
yes but it's been reworked on U5 and it's punishing on wide under 3, learned it the hard way. can work but needs some babysitting at first to see if it's ok
I am having this wild vision of the river having a platform foundation with a levee channel over it to direct the badwater to the other side. If only that could work, but platforms can't support levees, can they?
5:00 Why would you assume it is about political correctness? Seems weird, could just be any whim from someone inside the team making it? Anyway, thanks for the videos!
Any time things change names after YEARS, it's usually because someone has complained about it. Maybe it's about something else, but it smells funny to me, and I hate to see people being bullied.
Seriously? You're upset about the name changes? And don't read so much into that. Who says they're bowing to anyone? You're making an awful lot of negative assumptions on something that doesn't matter. It's a game. Keep it chill.
I shall do and say what I want. Don't limit my freedom of speech just because you dont give a damn. Some people do care about things. I LOVED that my beavers had meditation places, and the lore of having a temple.
I was quite interested in this game until now, thanks for pointing out the devs support political correctness, I won't be supporting the game afterall.
I don't know if it really is political correctness or not. May want to ask them. I just assumed. I hate when stuff like that is changed. But regardless, it isn't worth withdrawing support for the game. It is my top #3 game of all time... really is that good.
@@KatherineOfSky Probably a mistake honestly to call this "political correctness" in the first place. There's no reason to think that there was some kind of serious DEI aim at making this change, with it being a Polish developer and a topic that was likely to be uncomfortable only for very seriously religious people, you know? When you start talking about "political correctness", it's just going to be taken as a dog-whistle for a very specific kind of person, like this exact commenter. It's now functionally identical to blaming something on SJWs or "critical race theory" or whatever. I don't actually think you meant it that way, but that's why you got this response. I'm right there with you about it being a silly change, but if you don't mean to attract an audience who is deeply worried about the threat of dangerously left-wing beaver colony games, maybe... avoid that specific language. 😩 Gotta love the internet in 2024.
@@Nassifeh I have no idea what "DEI" is. And I did say that it was just a guess... I donät actually know why they changed the names, just said that I was disappointed and made a guess.

That's a lot to remember, especially with long build orders.
The yay is real! Timberborn is back! Im really exited to see this series play out.
At 26:30 when the beavers are running out of time to build the dam, just make them work 24h for a day or two.
4:55 An agora is technically any area designated for public gatherings.
Inverter is basically a latte hut with computers and spare parts. Beavers didn't have computers, so the latte hut is 100% accurate
thank you so much for not having a squeeky voice, i enjoyed your narration a lot.
hahaha

I think to get max spread it has to be a 3x3
@@KatherineOfSky I think you are right!
EDIT: Yeah, 3x3 is waaay bigger. Thanks for replying!
That dam being built was SO close.
Yay! the beaver dance is back in full swing!
🎉"we're doing the beavers dance"🎉😂😅
SO glad to see you back at it with timerborn, Love your play style with it. looking forward with what you come up with!
Thank you! I'm happy to be back in it!

Nope. Have to use levees the whole way up
You can put caps on Badwater that stops them unless you open them.
Yep, I noticed that. Seems a weird cheat mechnic to me. Wish they hadn't added that.
I believe you lost logs deleting the woodcutter flags?
Probably a few
Nah, any logs stored in deleted flags now convert to "rubble" and can be picked up by builders.
That's good to know, thanks!@@waltermundt
