    I know I have watched this several times not sure if I ever commented. I love the 4th it’s always a reminder of the granddaughter I lost. She loved the holiday and loved the flag. Some people say that is depressing but I take it as a celebration of her life and the country that we all love! Thank you so much for sharing. I love your videos. You are a great teacher. 🌹🌹💚

      And thank you for all those views Cheryl👍🏼 That’s not depressing at all. How hard it must’ve been to lose your granddaughter, I’m so sorry.

    I love this and love that you used a portion of another pattern to create what you envisioned. The Ohio Star is my favorite block so I would want to turn the blue so it truly looks like an Ohio Star. I guess I’ll need to do some quilty math 🙄

    I enjoyed your tutorial and I love your channel. However many viewers may not be aware but if you hang a flag down like in the villa rosa pattern the proper way to hang it always is with the stars to the left. (See flag etiquette ) I am sure the designer did not think anything about this.

    • @sisterchicksquilting
      @sisterchicksquilting  Год назад +1

      I am aware of that (having taught cub & weblow scouts for many years) and I actually struggled with where/how to place th field of stars so it would be correct. I ended up doing it the way I did on mine because it wasn't a real flag, rather a representation of a flag. SInce the top of the quilt isn't 2 sided I just went with it.
      Thank you for watching my channel.

      @@sisterchicksquilting I actually just recently learned this while reading something that my parents had. My grandfather who passed when I was 3 was a Colonial in the army so it’s been fun finding things in my parents home and then researching items. I have noticed that my passion for American heritage is growing since finding and seeing these things. I just appreciate that your willing to make a flag and even share it in here in RUclips. I love the Lamd of liberty fabric. It’s my very favorite patriotic fabric line. It’s so beautiful!!!

      @@jennytobias6551 I love our flag and country!!I was taught about the flag early by my parents. Your family heratige is very cool. WE have the American flag from my FIL's casket and my dads battlion flag froom his unit when he was in the Koren war. I love that I can include our countrys flag and colors in my quilting! One of my new fave lines came out last year, Belle Isle. I get soemthign RWB every year, I can't pass it up.

    I love this idea. I am going to watch for red/white/blue fabric on clearance this week to make my own. I wish you would have had 13 stripes (instead of 11). Will you hang it horizontally; or vertically (like your inspiration)?

    • @sisterchicksquilting
      @sisterchicksquilting  3 года назад +2

      I hang mine horizontal. I bet you will find some good sales on red, white and blue fabric soon!😉❤️🤍💙 It would be easy to change the number of stripes. Take the side measurements and divide them by the number of stripes you want. Each one or a few can be slightly differenet sizes like mine to make it scrappy looking.

    Hi again, I looked on your website and could not find your pattern for the flag. I would love to find it. Thank you.

    • @sisterchicksquilting
      @sisterchicksquilting  3 года назад

      The pattern to the Moda Love Table topper is linked in the comments below the video.. I used the center of that for the star then, using the side measurement of the star as a guide I cut the stripes to fit that measurement. I Did add 1/2” to each piece I cut for seam allowances.
      There is also a link to the Villa Rose pattern s which was my inspiration.
      I could write a pattern if you want but it won’t be up until next week.
      Thank you for following me, I appreciate you!

    • @sisterchicksquilting
      @sisterchicksquilting  Год назад +1

      I don’t have instructions for the flag. I use the center of the Mota love quilt. It’s a freepattern with the link in the description under the video. Then I added the stripes to the stars, and made longer stripes for below the stars. I made them wonky because it’s not a true star. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching.❤️🤍💙😊🐥

    Where do you get the pattern

    • @sisterchicksquilting
      @sisterchicksquilting  2 года назад

      The star is the center of the Moda Love pattern which is linked below in the description. When that was finished I made the stripes in two sets to fit the star. Note the stripes are different sizes for a Scrappy look. I believe I give the width and height of the project in the video. Just remember to add half an inch to your straight pieces for the seam allowance.
      I hope this helps, thank you so much for watching my videos, I really appreciate it‼️🇺🇸❤️🤍💙
